I am overjoyed to have discovered this community for my mother. She's made a lot of good friends, she enjoys all of the activities. All levels of staff work hard to make it a pleasant community, and I believe they genuinely care about my mother and everyone who lives there.

I went to the Lantern of Madison to see a patient. I loved the area where it was opened up, and they had lights that would dim to make it look like night time for 'em, or the lights would be bright when it was supposed to be sunny. They have live plants in there, they have a fountain, things like that that I haven't seen in other places. One area did have a urine smell, but then again that's what they can't control, which I understand. It wasn't really, really bad, but there was an odor. Somebody could have just been cleaned up, I don't know. It looked pretty good, pretty average for everything that I've been in. It was more homey.

Understaffed facility that is not equipped to deal with patients that require them to "think outside of the box" in regards to their care. If your loved one displays any forms of high need, agitation or upset due to dementia (something they can't control and are not doing intentionally), look elsewhere where staff are properly equipped and trained.

Understaffed facility that does not take the time to truly listen to the family when considering the needs of the resident. If your loved one is not combative, calm and easy going, he/she will do fine here. If your loved one has issues that need to be attended to, or would require staff to think outside of the box when it come to their best interest, look elsewhere. My loved one was never bathed nor was his room cleaned regularly because staff was afraid of him because he swore and threatened them. He developed a terrible UTI that the emergency room declared was one of the worst they've ever seen. We have since moved facilities and we could not be happier with the care that my loved one is now receiving!

Not really delighted with this facility, recently heard from my family members that my parent with Dementia/Alzheimer's who has resided there as resident for some months now, was able to walk right out of the facility without being noticed by staff or any alarms sounding off. Thank God, he was reported to police by a by stander, NOT associated with this facility, THIS should not have happened!!!! This could have turned out to be a horrible and sad outcome!!! This facility needs to upgrade their ability to monitor their residents more closely and be attentive to the families when it is being questioned as to how this had happened!!

Lantern of Madison was a lot bigger than other places, but it didn't seem as homey. It was a lot more clinical than it was at the other community. I believe we would have to bring our own furniture.

Lantern of Madison was very nice, and they have very nice things but I wasn’t real happy with the location where the people for dementia were. It was in a lower level of the facility, and I just wasn’t impressed with that part of it. The dining area seemed to be fine. The people were very nice, very friendly, and very informative.

The Lantern was clean, seemed well taken care of, and had everything we needed. The staff seem to be very good. The dining area seemed fine, very convenient, and very well kept.

My mom chose Lantern of Madison. She likes it because it’s in an area that she is familiar with. The place is very clean, and it seems to fit her. With their outdoor activity, I don’t know if it's a monthly thing, but they take a little trip somewhere whether it's to a restaurant or a show. They also have a family get together once a month. They also take them to doctor's appointments on Tuesdays.

Lantern of Madison is a very good place. It is assisted living, and it has a good staff. Everything is good. It is clean and well taken care of. My aunt moved in for only a week and a half, but she had to return to the hospital.

We put my mom in a place which is nearby here. It is called Lantern of Madison. This is our choice because we like the atmosphere there and it's clean. They also said that if my mom runs out of money, she can still stay there and she won't have to move. They said they will give her ongoing care. Right now she is at level 3, and they go up to level 5, so they would take care of her there no matter if her condition worsens. We're just glad not to have to move her. They also have a separate section for people with Alzheimer's and dementia. The staff is very competent, friendly and prompt. When she needs anything, they're there within a couple of minutes. They do their best and I think they like what they're doing. Her room is very nice. It is big enough to have her bed and then a little sitting area with TV, etc. I ate there once or twice and the food is pretty good. It's not gourmet restaurant but it is decent food. My mom doesn't mind it. Overall, she is very happy there.

Lantern provided good care for my step father while he was there. However, after he passed on, they withheld $800 of the deposit, made a mistake in sending it to him instead of his heir, then refused to cancel and reissue the check. causing unnecessary delays in issuing the refund. That left a sour taste in my mouth after an otherwise good experience.

The building itself is not that impressive from the outside appearance. However, the inside is comfortably and tastefully renovated. There is a theater for movie viewing and several dining areas. Rooms are not very big, but client privacy seems to be important to the staff and they treat the clients respectfully. You are allowed to bring some items from home to make your room more personal if you like. There could be more food choices available on the menu. There seems to be one set menu for the day and not a lot of alternates to choose from. The food is not bad, but not what I would expect for the monthly price of the stay there. Medical care seems adequate and my family member gets the care she needs. Overall, I would rate the facility better than average. However they could improve on the food and the outside appearance a little more.

We chose this facility because they accept Medicare. The facility is very clean and she has her own apartment. They wash her clothes, cook for her and she receives 3 meals every day. The staffs are very caring. She wears a necklace that she can push every time she needs something and they respond immediately. They have activities too. We haven't joined her yet because most of them are in daytime and we have work but some activities including bus rides, trips to restaurants and many others. They get the residents to go out of the facility. I can't think of anything that this facility needs to improve; its being ran pretty well.

My mother lived at the Lantern from 2006 until she passed away. I cannot say enough good things about the care that she received. The staff were like 2nd family. It was apparent that their goal was to make sure all of the clients and their families were happy/healthy and content. Thank you.

This facility is beautiful. The staff is so attentive and caring.From the minute I walked in the door, I felt as if we had known all of these people all of our life. The people that live there seemed very happy and satisfied. 1 of them even told me, if she could not be at her own home, she wanted to be at the Lantern. I was set for my grandmother to move in but unfortunately she had a set back and passed away suddenly. I urge people to go tour the Lantern before you make any decisions.
