Questions about The Wellington
Describe the overall population of assisted living residents at The Wellington . What is their average age? What are their favorite things to do?
The average age of our residents is 84 years. We have many who enjoy Bingo which we play twice a week. Many others enjoy the live music that we have 2-3 times per month.
What programs or activities does The Wellington offer to enrich residents' well-being?
We have an exercise class that meets every morning at 9:30 a.m. We have a chair exercise group that meets twice per week. We check on our residents a minimum of 4 times per day...breakfast, lunch, dinner and bed time.
What places are near The Wellington or within walking distance for assisted living residents to enjoy?
Some of our residents enjoy walking to Dakota Square Mall which is just a short distance away. We have a small lake in our back yard that is enjoyed by all who live at The Wellington. It attracts wildlife and provides a peaceful setting to watch from our back patio.
What transportation services does The Wellington offer to assisted living residents?
We provide transportation to all medical, dental and vision appointments. Activities includes a variety of trips around town throughout the week...WalMart, Kmart, the mall, Dollar Tree, driving around the countryside to enjoy the sights in the Spring and Fall.
What makes the chef or dining program at The Wellington exceptional? What kind of menu can assisted living residents expect?
We provide a variety of menu items. A resident may choose a sandwich or soup if the day's entree does not appeal to his/her taste.
What safety features or security measures does The Wellington offer to assisted living residents?
Our building has a sprinkler system throughout to include all apartments. We practice safety drills (fire, tornado, etc) on a monthly basis.
How does The Wellington keep residents' families informed about their loved ones?
The Wellington produces a monthly newsletter and activity calendar that may be sent via email to any family member. Staff will call family members if something should happen to their loved one while in our care.
What is the care staff-to-resident ratio at The Wellington during daytime and nighttime hours?
During day hours, there are 3 care staff available along with an LPN and RN for varying hours during the week. We have 2 staff on overnight to assist with any resident needs.
If The Wellington accepts dogs or cats, what indoor/outdoor areas can they enjoy?
The Wellington feels pets provide great benefits for residents and welcomes both cats and dogs. The Wellington location is fairly secluded. There are areas for pet roaming on the east end of the building.
What ongoing senior care training does the staff receive?
Training is completed with all staff on a monthly basis. Training topics vary by need and requirements.
What safety features or security measures does The Wellington provide to protect residents who wander?
The Wellington does not specialize in memory care.
