I visited this facility

We went to Summit Place of Mooresville. It was excellent. The tour person was excellent. The place was clean. All the staff we met for good. I can't say anything bad about any of them. And equally, the people who lived there were friendly, too. A couple of them invited us to their rooms to check them out, so it was very nice. It's a good experience. I went with my sister so there were two of us there and we said the same thing. They had a nice activity room where they did crafts and things. They said they had activities like movie nights and things like that for the seniors. They had things like multiple trips and things. One thing that I like is that they provide transportation for doctor visits within 10 miles of the place, so that's a nice thing. They had a nice dining room area, and they were redoing the outdoor. They had a small garden and I think they were going to expand that. We like the place a lot. I was impressed with the place. The residents looked happy.

I visited this facility

I looked at Summit Place of Mooresville. It appeared that the residents were out and moving about and appeared to be active. The meal menus looked appealing and appetizing. I was surprised that the private room I was looking at was a little bit bigger than I thought, and that made it more comfortable and configurable for my mother's stuff. However, the staff did not have a lot of financial information. Other than that, she was knowledgeable about the place, and she showed us around. They had a big living area and there was a nice big TV. They take the seniors out on trips, too. They have transportation to get them out and about. With regards to location, there are hospitals and major restaurants nearby.

Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we did. We hope you have a great day!

I visited this facility

Summit Place of Mooresville was very nice and very clean. They took time with me, we talked for about 30 minutes and then had about a 20-minute tour of the facility. My mom has dementia, so they showed me the assisted living side as well as the mental health/dementia/Alzheimer's side. The staff members looked like they were engaged with the people there, and the person that gave me the tour was very knowledgeable and could answer any questions that I had. They showed me a model room, which was very nicely set up with a bed, a dresser and TV, and a chair. They also explained how they did not have any visiting hours, so family members can visit whenever we want to. And they have a very nice courtyard where they involve the residents in gardening, bird watching, or whatever they want to get involved with. The staff was very knowledgeable and was very nice. A room was set up to have a movie night last night, and they had a room that we met in or a dining room that your family can rent for special occasions. So it was an individual dining room. They have a library area, a small barbershop, or a beauty shop, and they had another room where they did crafts with the residents. They had specific dementia and Alzheimer's training for their staff, so that was very appealing to me. The other thing is that my mom can start in assisted living and then go into memory care if needed, whatever the nurse's assessment was.

I toured Summit Place of Mooresville. The unit that they showed me was a good-sized, but it was outdated. Cleanliness was not that great. They have a washer and dryer on-premises, so they can do their own or they can have it done. The lady who gave the tour was very nice. I think she's done her job well. She gave me a whole calendar that had a lot of activities going on, like outings, going to a restaurant to eat, bingo/other games, and just all kinds of things. Something was going on every single day.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband's grandmother lived in Summit Place of Mooresville. The employees in the memory care were very, very kind, and they took good care of her. It's clean, and pre-COVID, they had lots of activities. There was a hair stylist on site, and someone else would come to do their nails. It seemed like a pretty friendly and welcoming place. She had a good-sized bedroom. It was more of a studio room, because she didn't cook or anything. It was nice and big for her. It had a sitting area, an area for the bed, and a nice bathroom. She had her own furniture, chairs, and other things. She enjoyed the food too. She liked eating her meals in the dining room. I was impressed with how nice it was when I walked in. It seemed very open and they had a very impressive reception area. I knew that it was quite expensive for her, but I think it was worth what they paid.

Provider Response

Jaime, thank you for the high star rating!

My mom is already living in Summit Place of Mooresville. I am 100% satisfied with the staff. They are awesome. My mom likes the food they serve, and that makes me happy. Their dining room is not a 5-star restaurant, but they cater good food to elderly. The rooms are very nice and always clean too. On the other hand, my mom is blind, so she cannot involve herself into many activities. They do offer several different activities all the time. I would surely recommend this community.

I am a friend or relative of resident

Having to move my mom to an assisted living facility was an extremely difficult and emotional decision for me, especially givien the fact that I do not live in North Carolina. That being said, every time I visit, it feels like family. The facility is always clean, fresh smelling, and I can't say enough about the staff! They are always courteous, helpful and so caring with my mom. The dining room is lovely and food delicious and the staff checks on each resident to make sure they are eating and/or happy with their meal. This is a wonderful place for my mom and the staff, headed by Susan, could not be more helpful and gracious.

Summit Place was beautiful. It was really nice. It had everything that you could want to put someone in assisted living. I am looking for a place for my mother. The people were excellent and very nice. The nurses were very nice. The facility was very clean and very neat. I haven't tried to eat there, but I know the food was very nice because I know somebody who was there. The surroundings were very good. They're just very comfortable. They were like homes. They had all kinds of activities. They do the exercise classes, the yoga classes for those who can, and they have stretching exercises for those who can't do very much. They have other kind of activities there too. Overall, this facility was excellent.

Summit Place of Mooresville is a very nice facility. I moved Mom in there, and she is very content. Her room is just fine. My mother loves the food. There is something going on all the time there.

We placed Mom into the Seasons (Alzheimer's, Dementia) section of Summit Place when it became too difficult for her to live with us and she could no longer live on her own. This was an emotional and even guilt ridden decision for us. However, the staff did everything they could to reassure us that this was a good decision for Mom. They are able to give her full time 24/7 care that we could not physically provide. The facility is beautiful and she has her own room with familiar furniture and momentos from home. The staff truly cares about each resident. The area is safe with locked alarmed doors, so residents cannot wander off. The staff lets us know if there are any concerns and immediately phone us if she needs medical attention. The cheerful gathering area for meals and recreation is warm and friendly with plenty of space and a garden outside. I used to feel guilty because I could not do it all for Mom, but now when I leave Summit after a visit I am at ease and thankful for the wonderful care she is receiving. Alzheimer's is a terrible disease that affects every member of the family, but the Seasons area at Summit has made this long journey a lot easier to bear.

when the time comes that your loved one(s) can no longer live alone and you need to make that heartbreaking decision to put them in assisted living, you need to know that there is a time of adjustment for everyone. Your loved one will most likely resist the changes to you,but my experience was that my mom was thriving in her new life/home. She is once again by people her age and can talk about the past to others who can with what she is speaking about. The activities are designed to help their memory. I have witnessed my mom go from a withdrawned person to a happy woman enjoying her 'golden years'.
