The best part about this place is the people that work there and the personal touch they provide to your loved ones care. My mother was there for rehab this year. I live out of town and when the facility brought her home, they arranged for groceries to be delivered to her the next day. My mom was in the hospital for almost 15 days and was at Carrrington Place Rehabilitation and Living Center for nearly 20 more days. She lived by herself at the time. The fact that this facility actually thought about my mom having fresh food to eat when she got home...is outstanding. I am still shocked at the generosity and thoughtfulness of this gesture. If you are looking for rehab and you haven't been to Carrington Place in Matthews...You truly do not need to even consider anything else. They are consummate professionals and caring about the people, is more than a cliche...They knock it out the park.

The staff that handles the meals, can’t seem to get the diet he is correct. TheDietitian has been into speak to him three different times because he had to send The meals back that was brought to him because of his diet, and the food that he has been able to eat it’s always been barely warm or even cold. The health department would not approve of the temperature of his food that has been delivered to him

My father was a patient at Carrington Place for the last seven months. I would definitely recommend this facility. We kind of stumbled on it after a hospital stay but were very pleased with the care that he received. He made a lot of friends among the staff and other patients. He enjoyed the activities like bingo and thought the food was pretty good. His caretakers were very courteous and friendly with him. I was around frequently for visits and did not see anything that was concerning about his care. I also really like the setting and many of the residents enjoy sitting outside in the little garden.

My father was discharged from Novant Hospital last month and we chose Carrington Place in Matthews, NC, for his rehab. THANK GOD! He has been to other rehab/nursing homes, which all came recommended to us by previous social workers at CMC (Carolina's Medical Center), but Carrington Place (for some reason) was never recommended to us from any of our (several) visits to CMC hospitals before....we were discharged from CMC 3 times last year and each time we were told to go to Sardis Oaks and Huntersville Oaks, (which are farther away from our house than Carrington Place) but we didn't choose Carrington Place because the CMC social worker did not "recommend" Carrington Place for rehab.... After several terrible experiences at the CMC Hospital "recommended" rehab nursing homes...we ended up back at the hospital. The most recent emergency, we went to Novant Hospital-Matthews, and after a week there, the social worker talked to us about rehab (here we go again!). However Carrington Place was actually a "preferred " rehab according to the nurse at Novant Hospital. When we visited Carrington Place, we weren't very impressed. It looks more like a home, than a top notch rehab...boy were we surprised! The care there was excellent!!! The nursing staff and therapy staff educated us, and helped plan ahead. Dad's nurses were the most genuine I've seen. We both learned more about his medical conditions in 3 weeks at Carrington Place than the previous 3 different rehabs combined When he was successfully discharged back home, he and I were both finding ourselves "missing" those special caretakers we had...If you need rehab, or a nursing home, go to Carrington Place. (Beware of the rehabs recommended by any of the CMC "case manager" nurses. ---It's very odd that the best rehab we have been to, was not recommended one single time until we went to Novant Hosptial

My wife's mother was recently at Carrington Place for rehab. We did not know what to expect and did not plan for this to happen . She suffered a stroke and spent a week in the hospItal and I trily did not know what was going to happen after the hospital. Carrington Place had decent reviews and was close to our home, so we visited. I was not overly impressed at first, though it was clean and the hallways smelled clean. The director of nursing was wonderful and the nurse "Penny" was so kind and made the overal day to day care better and better. My only suggestion would be to do some cosmetic upgrades to the building, but do not change the way you are!!! My wife and I were very impressed with the medical team and nursing team and my wife's mother got outstanding care there.
Thank you to all the Carrington Place nursing staff and therapy staff for such an excellent job. I know you guys don't hear thanks enough. (Usually people post only the negative things). I admire the hard work you guys do...I know how crazy and difficult us family members can be...

My family and I were not pleased at all with the care our parent received there. The staff was lazy, the Cnas complained all of the time and our parent did not get the proper care he/she was supposed to get. My family and I complained all of the time for lack of attention our parent received. We will not ever recommend this place to anyone. They also doubled billed us for services paid a year ago. Not a good place for anyone!!!

The staff has a huge lack of concern for their patient's families, extremely slow service to even get a simple answer, my family and I didn't feel safe leaving our loved one in their care (he fell multiple times and was never treated).

very disappointed in this facility. A few of the caregivers you could tell did not want to be there by the way they treated my family member. If you ring the buzzer it took way to long for someone to come to room. Witnessed nurses sleeping at night away from the station with buzzers going off.

Carrington Place seemed to have more staff than the other ones I've visited. It smelled so bad; that was the first impression when we walked through the front door. I probably should go see it again because it might just have been a bad day; someone could just have had an accident. The people seemed alright, and the facility was fine. The residents seemed happy and had a lot of visitors. I was there at about lunch time, and there were lots of people visiting their loved ones, which was nice. They seemed to be friendly. The lady introduced me to the physical therapy person and somebody else, and they were all very nice. I looked in at the rooms, and they all pretty much looked the same as every other place, so nothing jumped out at me. They were adequate in size.

Pineville Rehab was dark and dingy, and the smell of food hits you in the face when you open the door to walk into the place. The room was very small, but the girl was fairly knowledgeable. She was pretty good, and she worked with the different patients. Out in the hallways, the rooms were all kind of dark and dingy, and the nurses and the CNA's were right out in the hall around a desk; it was like chaos. They did have the E-stim, which is the new thing, and they are trying, but they are not to that point just yet. They didn't leave me feeling comfortable with the level of care they could give her because many of the staff were congregated in the hallway where I felt they should have been tending to other patients. The people we met were very friendly. The problem with Pineville -- it was old, dark, and kind of dingy; the rooms were like old paneled walls, and it was dark. It wouldn't be my first choice. They had a very small rehab room, but from what I understand, it's good; I just don't know anything about it. The director of rehab has only been there for a couple of months, so she was fairly new.

Carrington Place is nice, but I didn't have all the care that I needed for him. We need a little bit more than assisted living. We need a lot of therapy. I think the biggest problem is he has a bag because they removed his lower intestine. He has a colostomy bag that calls for a nurse because he doesn't know how to change it. It calls for a little bit more than just assisted living right now.
