I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My family and I highly recommend Arbor Landing. My mom and Uncle lived there and absolutely loved it. Darlene and all of the staff are so helpful and caring. They treat each resident as a family member. They always have a lot of activities and social gatherings. I highly recommend Arbor landing if you’re into making friends and having a fun time.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was a resident at Arbor Landing at Hampstead. The food was terrible. The executive staff was not friendly. They had bingo. They put out a calendar every week, and the special activities like their Halloween dance and things like that were wonderful. But a lot of the stuff that was on that calendar didn't even exist. The amount of money we paid was just unbelievable. And everything that you needed, if you needed any nurses or aides or anything, it cost a fortune to subsidize. So, it wasn't worth it.

Arbor Landing at Hampstead was very good and very positive. Everybody I spoke to was great. They had just about everything there. They have a movie theater and a pool table. They had quite a bit going on there and had big rooms. The facility seemed very clean. I felt like they had a good vibe there. It's a very positive and energetic vibe.

Arbor Landing at Hampstead was a very clean and updated facility. The bedrooms looked more like a room than a hospital bed. The person that did the tour was knowledgeable and very nice. It seems like a very nice, well-maintained place. They had some nice things. They had a therapy dog there and one of the resident's families donated a little putting green. They also had raised beds for anybody who wants to plant plants or vegetables. They organized activities for everyone.

My sister and uncle moved into Arbor Landing at Hampstead. It was bright and cheerful. The facility is relatively new. It's only five years old. The apartments were some of the largest that we had seen. I like the staff. They are very friendly, professional, accommodating, helpful, and have excellent feedback. It's very clean. We like the bright and airy look and the modernist feel of it. It had a kind of beachy look in the dining room. They had very pretty light fixtures in the hall. They have activities. We appreciated the fact that it was more affordable than many of them.

I liked Arbor Landing at Hampstead very well. I liked everything. They were very friendly. It was clean and nice. I didn't see the amenities because we primarily were looking at the locked area. It was the nicest I've seen, but it was very high priced, so I have to consider that, too. The staff was very nice. There wasn't very much outdoor space. It had a courtyard, but it was rather small. There are restaurants nearby. It's not close to a hospital though.

We chose Arbor Landing at Hampstead for my parents because of its proximity to us, and the place was just immaculate, new, and clean. It was great. The staff was very responsive. They bring everything that my parents are going to need, which is a huge help and very convenient. They bring in the physician's assistant once a week. There are lots of activities. There is the assisted living onsite if needed and that's a big relief. They have housekeeping provided once a week, so that's very convenient as well, as helpful.

I toured Arbor Landing at Hampstead. It's very nice. It's for people who are fairly independent and don't need a lot of care. Unfortunately, my dad does need quite a bit. The staff was very friendly, nice, knowledgeable, and very, very helpful. I saw a studio, and it seemed pretty roomy. It looked like it was unfurnished. You have to furnish it yourself, which is fine. It looked like a very clean and new facility. There was a dining area. There were lots of little gathering areas. There were some outdoor spaces for sitting and gathering. There's a piano. The maintenance looked like it was fine and great. I didn't see any problems.

The Arbor Landing at Hampstead looked very nice. It was well-decorated in a very nice beach motif. The rooms were very spacious, and the staff was very friendly. It looked like they had a lot of activities and a lot of common areas, too. They had a movie theater set-up with a large-screen television and exercise areas. It looked like they had buses and vans to take people to activities. It looked very adequate. It's sort of in an isolated location, but it was a very modern facility with very cheerful décor and spacious rooms. We saw their independent living during our tour.

My wife is now in Arbor Landing at Hampstead. It's an assisted living area, but they have small memory care in the rear of the facility, and she is in there, and they only have 12 patients. I think they're probably understaffed there, and they're not equipped to handle patients that have emotional outbursts. It's primarily assisted and independent living, so that's what they're concentrated on, but they want to get into memory care. I think they're understaffed, and the nurses are somewhat scarce there. They're only there on weekdays and on weekends, usually, they're not there. My wife has meals three times a day with snacks. She is in memory care. She has to be fed and dressed. Everything has to be done for her. I like the way it's put together. However, she has a fairly advanced disease, and she can't participate in any kind of activities. Value for money is a 4 because they're cheaper than most places.

I visited this facility

I went to look at Arbor Landing at Hampstead. I love this place as well. It is much newer. It has more modern finishes with the decor. They do not offer a furnished suite, so you have to bring all of your own furniture. They also had one and two-bedroom units, as well as studios. Then they have a separate living space. They had a patio and an outdoor seating area. They have an activity room where they do all of the crafts. They have a calendar full of different activities. They have a room where they keep a television on all the time, and it stays on a news channel. If you want to watch something else, you go to a different area, so that everybody always knows the news is on in one room. They have other meeting spaces that you can go and read a book or meet with friends. They have a private dining room that you could have a birthday party on. You just need to reserve it. They had a hair salon. They had a podiatrist. They had an on-site home health care if you need those types of services that you would normally get from an assisted living. Not all residents require that, so that's why they call it independent living. And then you just add on packages if you need the home health care portion.

We were very impressed with everything at Arbor Landing at Hampstead, except the price is high. Our experience during the tour was very positive. The facility was clean. They seemed to interact with the patients. But it's like a double of what we're paying right now. The staff was very, very good, knowledgeable, she knew about the facility, and she was able to answer our questions appropriately. The unit is set up very uniquely. The nursing station is in a sector of all the rooms. So it's kind of like they could see all around what's going on, and we thought that was good. The location was excellent. For us, it would have been perfect. The staff showed us the activity calendar and how they deal with them.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

If you are considering Ridge Care’s Horizons Memory Care at Arbor Landing in Hampstead, NC for your loved one PLEASE READ. Horizons kicked my mother out at the end of her life and under hospice care because she could not stand, pivot, or assist with a transfer. She was in such bad shape the only place that would take her was a nursing home one hour away from the closest relative. She died 16 days later. We were told numerous times this is an “age in place facility and she could stay there until the end of her life.” This was a lie. Arbor Landing’s Horizon Care is a one person assist facility with no equipment to move people who forget how to walk or are in such bad shape they can’t. Their on-call nurse can come in anytime and deem “their care level has changed” and kick them out. They are also protected by NC regulation laws. Please look elsewhere for your loved one. Many memory care facilities have two person assist and have the equipment and desire to help dementia and Alzheimer’s residents all the way through to the end. 70% of dementia patients lose their ability to walk so please do not let this happen to your loved one. Moving my mom was the most difficult experience of my life as it was hard on her and contributed to her quick decline and death. On moving day we had to physically move our mom ourselves and no one from Horizons helped or said a word. Not even goodbye. Just shameful.

I visited this facility

Arbor Landing at Hampstead was originally where my mother was going to live. It's an independent living community. I visited there and we had an apartment set up for my mother and we were moving her there from another location in North Carolina just to be close to us, but then she ended up getting sick and she couldn't go in. However, they're excellent. If there's anybody ever looking for a senior living community, I would highly recommend them. It's lovely. The people that run it are excellent. They have activities that you can imagine. We weren't able to partake in it because my mother couldn't live there after all, but I know they were very active and they had lots of things going on. There are studios, 1-bedrooms and 2-bedrooms, and they're very nice. It's like three years old, so they're more modern. It's a lovely community for people that are still independently living.

My friend has lived at this facility for several months and has spoken highly of everything. Recently I had the opportunity to have a couple of meals here and I thought they were very good. One meal was pork tenderloin and stuffing with gravy, along with a broccoli and cauliflower combination. I was hesitant about the broccoli and cauliflower because I don't like nor usually eat these vegetables. But I tried them and they were good.

I really liked Arbor Landing at Hampstead. It just opened in August so it was really brand new. Overall, between regular independent and memory care there were around 90 apartments, so it's a small facility. It was beautiful-looking, very homey, and my mom's there now and she loves it. They have home cooking, the whole nine yards. Everyone's very nice. Everything's brand new, sparkling, and it's decorated beautiful. The entrance has a winding staircase going down, so it looks like you should have a wedding there. It's very pretty. They have a cinema media room, exercise room, Bingo, arts and crafts, and there are always people in the activity room. They try to do a lot with the residents. They have three meals a day. At meal time, different people are in there from the administration. The executives also help in there and talk to the people so it has a homey feel. My mom is in independent living but she does have someone come in three times a week to give her a shower. So far, she really likes it there, everyone's been so helpful, the food is delicious and she's happy with that. The two desserts I had there were absolutely to die for and you could see they were homemade because they weren't totally perfect. The main thing for her is everybody is pretty new there, so there aren't any people there who have been there for a long time where they have little groups. Everyone's new so everyone's reaching out to each other. It's a nice experience for them. They also have religious service and a priest coming in every Sunday. They will transport you within a 30-mile radius. They go to stores and outings. It's also an excellent value. It's $3350 for 1-bedroom, three meals a day, and the accommodations are lovely.

Arbor Landing at Hampstead was wonderful and had a wonderful staff. It was rather expensive and they had no pool and we do cardio in a pool, so that was one of our requisites. They have cards, the usual board games, and a lovely dining room. They have a studio, 1- and 2-bedrooms, and they're gorgeous. The studio was just very tiny. The 1-bedroom was lovely, had a great size closet, and the bathrooms were senior-operated. All these things were great and beautiful. The greetings were always there, and you weren't ignored. When we got there, they were having lunch, and it was lovely the way it was served and was presented. The staff also interacted with the people, which was nice.
