I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I can't speak highly enough of Laura and her entire team! We transferred my mother here from another facility and the care is like night and day. The care team is knowledgeable, loving and friendly to mom and our family. Mom's hygiene is great. Her room and bedding is immaculate. They have plenty of staff and most are long term employees. Mom is 95 with severe dementia. The staff is dedicated to giving her the best life possible under the circumstances.

We have been sadly disappointed with this facility. Things we were told about staffing and the care proved to be untrue. We have been disappointed that we are not welcome as family members to participate in our loved one's care. Our observation has been that there is not enough staff to adequately serve the residents, and the weekend scheduling of staff is very inadequate. We have, however, seen that most of the staff genuinely care about residents.

My mother moved into St. Andrews Assisted Living Center, and we're very happy with it. It's a very nice, clean facility, and we love the staff. It's not a large place, but we like it a lot. They have activities during the day, ice cream socials, bingo, and a courtyard with a nice, little garden. She's in a clean, private room, and the best part is that the staff is very nice. She's very happy with the people and really likes them. The facility is one level in a renovated church.

Thank you is so very insufficient for what you and your staff have done for my Mom over the past 2 years. From the moment she arrived, she has been treated with love and kindness. She has been listened to, noticed, and taken seriously. Even when she is abrupt and sometimes rude, her treatment has been respectful and always patient. The staff is a marvel. I have watched them be ever attentive and positive. We never walk into the building without a warm greeting and someone saying "your Mom is in her room" or wherever. She is included in all she will do. I see staff encouraging her to participate and making it easy for her to feel confident. The variety of activities is amazing and ever changing. The amount of work that goes into the special days and occasions is exhausting to contemplate and it's obvious that the staff goes all out to make these things happen. I think the high standards that the Administration expects motivates all at St. Andrews to consistently strive for excellence. We are very grateful to ALL the staff at St. Andrews and feel blessed to have Mom there.

I visit a friend who is there. The staff over all are friendly and courteous, what I have a problem with are the NURSES and Laura the person in charge. We have been told that we need to limit our visits, I find this to be a ludacris statement as the person is at the end of life under Hospice care. I feel at this point family and friends should be most important and the staff should be glad. If a CNA shows the patient extra attention she is told that the family does not want them around the patient. There are nurses watching cnas and to me it's ridiculous that they ALL don't put and effort to work together as a team. Laura should understand what families are going thru. This is a paying facility and it doesn't matter if it wasn't. ALL persons deserve respect, honesty, compassion and families should never have to second guess about their loved ones when they walk out the doors. Laura needs to realize these people are sick in a facility she is not a principle running a school.

My mother-in-law is a resident at St. Andrews Assisted Living. She is 95 years old and has been well cared for by the staff for the past year. The facility is always clean and well-staffed. We have no complaints regarding the care she has received.

I visited this facility

When I was there at St Andrew, it was clean. The rooms are adequate for one person, but it is kind of a minimum space facility. They were very kind. All they did was show us the rooms where we were to replace the bibles, and they sort of went back to their job. I would like to see more parking spaces. I did observe that it will be a problem because it is a downtown location.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My experience at St. Andrews Living Center Inc was terrible -- the worst I ever had. I had a friend there, and at one time he told me that he was having a heart attack and they called me and told me to take him to the hospital. I said asked why they didn't take him, and they told me that they didn't have enough staff so they couldn't just take him. I said call 911, and they said "You want us to do that?" I said yes, so they did, and then they called me at 1:00 A.M and told me to come and pick him up and take him back to the home. I said, "Why are you calling me?" They were supposed to take him back, and they said they didn't have anybody to take him back, so I got out of bed at 1:00 A.M and took the man home. A year later he had another heart attack, and they told him to use his own cell phone and call the emergency room. Every time I went there to see him, I'd have another horror story to tell. It smelled bad when you came in. I can't even think of anything sanitary about it. The dining area looked bad -- it just looked out of date -- and he said the food was not good.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My Dad suffers from Alzheimer's & Parkinson's and when I could no longer keep him at home finding a facility that filled his need was difficult until I found St. Andrews. He gets wonderful care from a staff that is friendly and loving and treats the residents with the dignity & respect that they deserve. I no longer worry about his daily care.
