I visited this facility

I went to Waltonwood Cary Parkway. I liked the layout of the property and the ease of getting around the facility. The prices for the rooms and stuff were fair. The staff all seemed to be very knowledgeable, friendly, outgoing, and willing to offer any help. Overall, there's a general feeling of comfort being there. I didn't have the food, but I sat down with one of the people who works there, and I thought the food was very good. They have a chef who prepares the meals, so that was a good sign. They have a swimming pool, a hot tub, a fitness center, a barbershop, a beauty parlor, and walking trails outside the facility.

My husband and I moved to Waltonwood Cary Parkway, the place is excellent. It's clean and bright, there's a lot of natural light, and they are in the process of redoing the carpeting and updating the facility. The people themselves are awesome. They have lots of options for using various areas for activities and things like that. They have chair dancing, they have crafting, they have art, they have manicures, and pedicures on site, they have a hair salon on-site, a library, and a courtyard. And in the courtyard they have like a miniature putt-putt course, they have a pool table, and they have a poker club. There are just a lot of activities available for different people. The food has been very good so far and the servers are awesome. The food has been very high quality and low in salt, they don't add salt to any of their entrees, it's just a natural occurring. So it's been very good for us. The staff has been fine, everyone that I have met has been very kind and very willing to help in any way that they can. They have a move-in coordinator that helps you coordinate changes, if you need to put something on the wall, they make sure that it gets done. He also makes sure that the people that are moving you in know how to get into the facility as easily as possible. He was very helpful in many ways.

I visited this facility

I looked at Waltonwood Cary Parkway and that one, I was not impressed with at all. They were supposedly showing me a certain type of apartment, but what they showed me didn't match the description. Plus the amenities for the bathroom I didn't think were good. It had a short toilet for like kids instead of one for seniors. The shower seemed inadequate. It had a chair in there, but the sliding door that they had was so narrow that if you were overweight, it would be hard to get in and out of. And it only had an overhead shower, so you had to be able to reach up higher than I could reach to use the shower room. I was not impressed at all with the apartment, so therefore the rest of the place didn't interest me too much. They provided two meals a day, one of which was breakfast, but breakfast was only from 8:30 to 9:30 in the morning, and that wouldn't be at all attractive to me because my legs don't move well that early. I just wrote that one off; I'm not intending to consider that one. The staff was friendly, but they didn't seem to respond well to questions or criticisms I had about what they were showing me. I was not that impressed with their amenities. I don't even remember exactly what was there because after they showed me the apartment, I wasn't too interested in the rest. They had a dining room, and it was OK, but it just didn't seem accommodating to people.

Waltonwood Cary Parkway is a multifaceted community. It takes in people that are in bungalows in independent living, assisted living, and then memory care, so it has a full line of services for each level. The people are very supportive. My sister is in independent living right now. They provide all of her meals, except for lunch; she has her lunch in her apartment. She has a two-bedroom-two-bath apartment. It's lovely and it has a balcony. There's a nice amount of space for her. They have many activities. They have a pool, they do brunch every other weekend, and they provide a bus to take you shopping as well as to doctors. So, they provide a lot of services. They have physical therapy on site, and they have a movie theater on-site. It's private pay for her. She has been there for two months now.

We visited Waltonwood Cary Parkway; it's a big place, I liked it. They have assisted living, and it was nice. I know someone there from our synagogue, and my wife and I went and visited him and his wife for about an hour. He didn't like the food too much, but we saw the place, it's nice. We were more interested in the villa there, they were very big, and they had one car garage. The one they had available for us, we weren't interested in. They had a waiting list for the other ones. We just didn't like it, it wasn't nice. They had everything, and they had all kinds of activities. It had a pool, game room, library, art, and exercise room, the usuals. The staff was very nice, and the woman that helped us was very nice. She brought us some food, that was very good. It was sweets and things like that. The facility is very good; it's a big place, my wife didn't like it as much.

My mother just moved in, and all I have to say is we still have stars in our eyes! EVERYTHING and I do mean everything was the highest caliber from the facility to the staff. The room is airy, with a lot of light, a great little lawn area (my mom has a little dog so this is perfect). Lots of storage and little nice touches like having the wall switches enabled so that they can control standing or desk lamps. The grounds are very pleasant, accesible and well lit. But the staff are beyond phenomenal. Each employee we encountered was genuinely friendly, helpful , interesting and kind. They were energetic and engaged and it made such an impression on us. Their activities are varied and they go out of there way to make them fun, like having a “bingo “ auction at the end of the month where they can spend all their “bingo and trivia” winnings betting on prizes. So very clever. The maintenance staff helped us repeatedly and were very attentive and went completely out of their way to accommodate us. Martha, not sure of her title but she coordinated everything and was so informed and helpful, fun and such a problem solver. She approached everything with a can do attitude and we appreciated that. So just have to say we are delighted and so very happy to land here.

My mother has selected Waltonwood Cary Parkway. I did a virtual and an in-person tour, and it was a very positive experience. The staff was very helpful, informative, fabulous, knowledgeable, and very understanding. They were excellent. There was an empty apartment style room that I was able to view. I saw the dining area from a distance. My mother is moving from her own private room. She was very concerned with the space that she would have for herself personally, so the apartment style at Waltonwood was one of the deciding factors for her, on top of the care that they would be able to provide and the activities that they offer. Just having the living space apartment style was a very important factor for her, not just being in one single room. They provided muffin or a cookie on departure as a thank you that the chefs prepared. The facility may be a little bit older, but it's very well cared for and clean from what I could see. I know someone whose mom was there at Waltonwood, and it's been an extremely positive experience for them there. It was kind of a personal stamp of approval of what I was feeling and that made me feel a little bit better in making our final decision.

We visited Waltonwood Cary Parkway. The staff was excellent, very warm, and they seemed to know all the residents. It was very large, and the apartment they showed was a very long walk from the entrance, so that was very hard for my mom. However, the staff was great.

Waltonwood Cary Parkway is excellent. I'm quite satisfied with their system. The facilities are neat, clean, and modern. The food is quite good. It seems to be a well-balanced menu. It's conveniently located. My room is freshly painted. The carpet is not new, but it's very close to it. It's neat and clean and my furniture fits into the room well. Everybody is friendly and helpful. It's not perfect, but it's very near it. They have an exercise program every morning on weekdays that starts at 9:00 and runs for 20 minutes to half an hour. It could be affordable to a lot of people, more than some of the others I found.

I would be careful about moving in to Waltonwood Cary. The building looks nice, even though it is a few years old, it has been maintained very well. I toured with the Executive Director of the community and she was aloof, seemed disinterested and made what seemed to me as very objectionable comments of other races. She would not look me in the eye nor did she smile at all. The other staff that I saw seemed a little more friendly but not much. I went back on a Saturday unannounced and things seemed to be out of control. I only visited two times but I would be nervous moving my mom into Waltonwood for any reason.

Waltonwood Cary Parkway is a beautiful facility. Their rates are comparable, but they're expensive. I like the fact that they have the cottages for independent living, and you can bring care in. I like the balcony on the 2-bedroom where you could sit out on. They were open, had windows, and seemed bright. They could improve on the availability of seeing all of the different units, and it would nice to be able to set up an appointment to see everything.

This is an attractive facility with good options from apartments to cottages. The staff is generally helpful but turnover is high. Some food servers are surly and clearly don't want to be working there. The food, however is often terrible -- at times inedible. This has been a chronic problem since my mother moved there 2 years ago. As she has her own kitchen this is less of an issue although she pays for two meals a day. On the occasions when family are invited or corporate executives are visiting the food can be quite tasty and well served. Day to day, it is just awful. This would be a top notch facility were it not for the food and high staff turnover.

We're living at Waltonwood in a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment. It's very nice. They have excellent equipment for working out, and the food is excellent. They have a whole list of activities like bingo. My wife is interested in the pool and swimming, so that's very important. They have an excellent library, so that keeps me very happy.

I really liked Waltonwood Senior Living. The people there are professional. They helped me out since my aunt was not really receptive on visiting a facility. I thought that this facility was a good option, but my aunt is not ready. I really liked that they have a movie theater, a pool, and a gym. It seems like they have different activities for the residents living there as well. It was a good option in terms of social interaction which I am trying to change for my aunt. They have transportation to take the residents to the malls, errands, and doctor's appointments.

Waltonwood has a low patient to staff ratio. Mom is in the memory care unit, and the staff is knowledgeable and very good. They have activities throughout the day, like they play games, take them on rides, and they take them out to eat. The place is clean and homey, and they have done a really good job with my mom.

I had come across Waltonwood through the Internet. The staff was very wonderful. They showed me everything that I needed to see. They also answered all my questions. The rooms were very nice and kept up. At that time of my visit there, I saw people doing puzzles, people playing cards, and people visiting and chatting in the common areas. It was a very nice and very busy community. They have a nice amount of activities for the residents.

We had the pleasure of touring this great community today. We are looking for a place that Mom can be as independent as possible, but still get the assistants she needs. When we walked in we were made to feel like family from the very first hello. We have toured 3 other communities in the Cary area and feel we have found Mom a place to call home. The residents all looked and acted like they were happy and well taken care of. The community is beautiful, but after meeting the staff and residents that was just the icing on the cake.
