I am/was a resident of this facility

I was at Glenaire for rehab for two weeks. I was greeted when I came in there and the people were very cordial. I stayed in a private room and I had my meals on site. It was a cafeteria type, but it was served to us at the table. The beauty of the place was that I had all other people to talk to and it was the same people. So, I developed a friendship with them, and then medicine was given to me at the appropriate times by the staff. Everything was very clean. No smells and it was just a very pleasant two weeks that I spent there. I had physical therapists who came in and occupational therapists that provided services and I got back on my feet. I was able to safely go home. They also provide medical assistance. They would come in and do your blood pressure and that type of thing. There was somebody looking after you. The cafeteria staff was very pleasant and would get your selections for the next meal and serve it to you. The food was very good. There was an outside courtyard that you could go to, but because you were unstable in your walking and so forth, they made sure that you stayed under supervision. There were just a few activities. Medicaid paid for my stay there, but the value was good.

Glenaire was putting together a new facility right now. I liked the fact that it seemed to be very well-maintained, well-run, and well-equipped to handle any issues for different levels of care. They would provide the meal plans, as well as maintenance of the apartments. They would also provide immediate medical care if necessary. The only staff I met during the tour was the interviewer. I was given some literature to understand how the place was running. She was informative. I liked the fact that this was a large organization. They had many other properties throughout the country.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I visited friends in Glenaire. It was great and it's a nice facility. The options available to the residents were numerous, and the staff was just really good. The food was fabulous. and there are options for the residents, too, so that was nice. They have entertainment there, and they also have church services and crafts.

I like Glenaire. It was nice. They showed me a one-bedroom apartment and it had a stackable washer and dryer. The washer was top loading, which meant the dryer was higher than was useful for me, so that was kind of a negative. I like the apartment itself, but I can't use some of this facility. Apparently, they have a newer part that they're building but it's not done yet, and those apartments probably will have a washer and dryer that would work better for me. It was nice. They were supposed to have an indoor heated pool, but I didn't look at it because I didn't feel like walking that far. It's a bigger facility than some of the other ones, so, therefore, there's more walking to do to get some of the available things. They have a gym, a heated pool, and places to play games and activities. They also have a long waitlist. The staff was really good, too.

I am going to Glenaire. I visited there, and it just felt good. I liked what I saw and what they offered. The facility was appealing. The staff members were very helpful, eager, and gave a good sales job. They did take COVID precautions. They require masks.

We toured Glenaire. We loved that place. That's number 1. The nice part about their place is that it is continuing care. Also, the waiting list is for like 10 years, so we might never get there, even though we loved it. We toured the independent living because you have to go independent at that place, but they do have the continuing care, and that's why we like that. But I don't know that there's any chance of getting in because there's such a waiting list and everybody loves that place. We just saw the independent living, we did not get to see the other care facilities, but they have it right there. It's lovely. Now, this is an older facility, and yet it is updated beautifully. They just did the reception area and it's gorgeous and has a beautiful restaurant, and they have two new cafes. Then they're building a whole new apartment complex right next to them, and they'll be three more restaurants and you can eat at any of them with your allowance for the month, so it's a very nice place. What stood out the most is that it's continuing care and the place is beautiful and clean. The people are very nice and it's very active. People were walking all over the place. You could walk to downtown Cary from that nice. It's wonderful. We saw two apartments and they're very nice. They're not big. They have cottages, but they're quite pricey. The location is excellent because it's near downtown Cary, so you could walk to it. They're building a huge park in the middle of town, so it's a very, very good location. They have an indoor pool and a beautiful workout area, all new equipment, that is very modern and up to date, and the place is so nice and clean. We didn't eat there, but the menu looked amazing.

Glenaire had independent to full care. It was very nice, newer, well kept, and updated. However, it was a little too structured for us. It was reasonably priced and had a buy-in. The age for entry is 62, and if you're in a couple, the second person has to be at least 55. The staff was fantastic. They had small exercise rooms, a nice indoor pool, a small library, and three small restaurants: one for finer dining, one for casual dining, and one for relaxed dining. However, there wasn't a place to walk.

I live at the Glenaire Continuing Care Retirement Community. I think it’s great, and I give it high praise. It’s hard for me to imagine how things could be done with greater consideration by all staff. The rooms are great. We are completely satisfied with our living circumstances here.

The Glenaire was absolutely excellent in every way. The people were great, the facility was great, and we were very impressed with it. The thing is when we get to the point where we need a CCRC, we are not staying in North Carolina; we are going back to Illinois to be by our kids and grandkids. They have a bus service to take them around town, and they'll take them to doctors' appointments and everything. We liked the facility very much. We thought it was a very nice and modern facility, and their amenities were great.

I did visit Glenaire Retirement Community, and this facility is very good. They got everything. The staff has been very good, and I haven’t got any problems with any of the staff. The rooms were fine, and their food looks alright. They do have activities as well. If somebody wants to go to Glenaire, I would say it is a great place.

Glenaire was a beautiful facility with beautiful grounds and fountains. It was a lovely place and I could see why they would have a waiting list. We were shown the facility, the dining room and an example of the room that would be available. The room was well equipped and they went over the menu, too.

At last check, the facility had 66 residents indicating that it is 93% occupied which is about average within the state of North Carolina. The provider accepts both medicare and medicaid programs, and provides resident counseling services. This nursing home and assisted living facility, is located in a continuing care retirement community (CCRC). As of July 2011, the medicare rating for Glenaire, was 5 stars. Only 13% of nursing homes have 5 stars in North Carolina.I have compared the detailed Medicare data for Glenaire with other senior care providers in North Carolina. The most recent health inspection was on 01/06/2011. When comparing the health condition of long stay residents to other nursing homes in North Carolina, for low-risk residents to lose control of their bowelsto have pressure sores for high-risk residents to have pressure sores. When comparing the health condition of short stay residents to other nursing homes in North Carolina, it is less likely for residents to have moderate to severe pain and to have pressure sores.

I am a friend or relative of resident

In the past, both my parents have stayed at Glenaire. After my father had a stroke, we decided to move them out of Glenaire and into a facility that had more substantial assisted living services and closer to where we live. Also, we wanted a more affordable retirement community. Glenaire is very luxurious and has quality care, but their prices are also very high (compared to other available options). Something else you should be prepared for is their entrance policy. Glenaire requires a substantial deposit before being put on a waiting list. Having said that, the community is very comprehensive with a chapel, beauty salon, lots of activities and beautiful landscaping. In addition to apartments, they have duplex cottages and detached homes. This is definitely a unique feature (with a substantial pricetag), since most retirement communities don't offer separate houses. I liked the fact that Glenaire is a Presbyterian sponsored community and they encourage residents to attend chapel services. Glenaire wasn't the best fit for my parents, but it may be a good choice for someone who has a larger budget and wants lots of luxury.
