We chose to move my sister to Arbor Terrace of Asheville because of their friendliness. It was more of a home-type setting to me than just a business. So it's more comfortable. I just liked everything about it. It's inviting. They are very efficient, friendly, and helpful. They do daily activities. They have a salon, therapy, and things.

Many of the staff members of Arbor Terrace Senior Living had been there for years and we felt that they took good care of the residents. They seemed to have a high level of satisfaction working there, and I think that's important that there's not a lot of turnovers. We toured the memory care area, but we focused on assisted living. The place was clean, but it could use some sprucing up. The lady who did the tour was knowledgeable and took a lot of time with us. She knew and answered all our questions. They have a salon and a small outdoor area that was very peaceful and beautiful with a mini fountain. They also transport their residents to doctor's appointments, but some doctors come in on-site too.

Arbor Terrace of Asheville was a lovely and high-end facility. They put a lot of time into first impressions in terms of furnishings and decor. However, the facility was small, so the physical common area space was very small. The hallways were narrow and tight, and they had few rooms on the first floor. Most of the rooms were on the upper floors, but the dining room was on the first floor. They have two different sizes of studio apartments, and then there are 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments. They told us about activities, but they're a bit more limited. They have an activity room, they can do arts and crafts, they have a small library onsite, and they have a beauty shop onsite. Its location is in a more commercial busy neighborhood part of South Asheville. However, it's significantly more expensive, not just for the base rate, but for the activities of daily living levels. The tiers are significantly more expensive. The staff who toured us was wonderful. She was very kind, very thorough and very informative. They showed me the menu, but none of us tried it.

Arbor Terrace of Asheville was very commendable. It was very clean, and the people were friendly and very caring. The actual rooms were large enough to be comfortable like in your own home. The staff was very nice, very cooperative and very friendly also.

I went to almost every place in town, and Arbor Terrace seemed like they gave me the most information. I felt like that the residents were taken care of; the best care out there of any place that I saw in town. They got back to me immediately. The menu is catered to individual residents. The dining room is nice. They have more activities depending on how severe the dementia is. I like how the staff care for the residents.

I don't think anybody will come close to Arbor Terrace. It is only two stories and there are only 40 residents on the assisted living's side. Against the other facility, that's where Arbor Terrace of Asheville would win out because it is a very intimate physical situation and because it is smaller and there are fewer people than the other facility. I met all of the staff, they know me and I know them. It is just very intimate. The ratio of staff to residents is much smaller. What my mother does is that she gets up every morning bed, makes her bed and goes down to breakfast. It almost feels like a home there. After breakfast, she goes to the activity room, which is right next door. The activities director is there all day. They would bring in people from the outside that could sing or play instruments or an animal doctor and then they play games like bridge. When you go to that room, there is always something for you to do. They are active as they want to be and that's really a personal thing. My mother loves the place, she picked it herself. I think it is also because she feels the love from them. The staff is very loving. The intimacy puts them into position where you can actually feel that. My mother had been to two other places and when she walked in, she said, "This is it" because "It just felt like home." The place is very warm and intimate. It didn't feel "clinical" like you're in a facility. Some of the people who come to see my mother who are not quite ready for assisted living say that's where they want to go. I can call the executive director anytime. I can call and it doesn't matter which I speak to, they know my mother's situation. They rotate the nurses so that the nurses could know the residents and the residents could get to know them as well. The leadership there are hiring the right people at work, so it is clear that people have been trained to be caring and loving.
Arbor Terrace of Asheville is an assisted living community in Asheville, North Carolina, which enjoys proximity to state Route 146 and the Pigsah National Forest. Residents and their loved ones give consistent high marks to the facility's kind staff and intimate family environment. The attractive dining room also receives accolades, and residents especially appreciate that the menu is customized to meet their individual needs and preferences. Residents' loved ones appreciate the relatively low staff-to-resident ratio and the approachability of the staff. The cleanliness of the facility also makes a good impression on guests and residents.
