I'm at Five Star Premier Residences of Yonkers. It's a nice place. It's an 18-story building. Lots of people live here. The occupants are mostly of the Jewish faith. There are a few Christians, and they have a lot of activities. You get two meals a day. It's expensive. There's independent and assisted, and I'm independent. They have a large staff turnover and that's the problem. A lot of people come and go. The food is not to my liking. They determine the menu for us and we don't have much say in the matter. They have lots of activities. We have bingo twice a week, and we have people who come in and give lectures and have music. We have happy hour once a week every Thursday where they serve wine and hors d'oeuvres. We have a gym. We don't have a pool, but they go to the Riverdale Y once a week for those who want to swim. The amenities are up to par. I can't complain. I love my apartment. it's very comfortable. We have housekeeping that comes in once a week and cleans. We have a laundry room for the tenants to come down. We have a beauty parlor here if you want to get your hair done or whatever. We're all seniors, and we're not working anymore and every year, there's an increase. Last year, there was like an 8% increase, and that's a lot for seniors. It's quite expensive.

There were a couple of things that we liked about Five Star Premier Residences of Yonkers. The grounds were very nice and both of the units we saw had a lovely view of the Hudson River. The location was very good because we have a lot of friends on the west side of Manhattan. In 20 minutes, we could get in the car and go down to see them. They also had a very nice garden. I only met the salespeople and one couple who were living there. I like that there were several couples who lived there and since we're a couple, we were attracted to that. Several of the places we went to were overwhelmingly single women. My wife has early stages of Alzheimer's, but they're not going to force us to be separated. The choice is ours. The facility was nicely kept. We had a sample meal there and it was very good. They had a nice library and a room for watching movies.

I toured Five Star Premier Residences of Yonkers for myself. Everyone there was very nice. I was just a little disappointed with the closet space and the 1-bedroom apartment was a little too small for me. Relative to other independent living situations, it's probably one of the better ones. But to me, I didn't like the architecture of the particular apartment that they were offering me. I was disappointed with the machines they had available at the gym. I felt it wasn't thought out very well. I was also disappointed with the library, it didn't look enough like a library to me. But the layout of the whole facility was fine. When I was there, none of the residents were around and that was disappointing. I would have liked to see more community activities, although it might have been because of the particular time I was in, which was early in the afternoon. I did not try the food when I went there for the tour, but they sent me home with a delicious piece of apple pie.

I toured Five Star Premier Residences of Yonkers. They were very nice. It was beautiful. I loved the outdoor garden where you can walk, that was lovely. It was very, very clean. I liked their gym. I liked it for my mother. I think it was larger, and my gut feeling was I thought she would like the other facility better because it was smaller. It was more like a high-rise building and the other facility was more like the apartment building she was used to. Those were the main things. It was larger with more residents, and my mom is very shy, so I thought she would do better with a smaller place. The staff was very nice. The follow-up was very good. I know they want the business, but they were very nice and not pushy. It was good follow-through, and it's a beautiful location, too. It looked very well-maintained and very elegant. The few rooms that I saw looked well-maintained. Another thing was that they had stoves, like more of a full kitchen, and at the other facility, they do not have. So, for safety, I thought the other facility was safer in that regard without having this stove in the room.

We have placed my mom in Five Star Premier Residences of Yonkers. She is living there now. The staff there is very helpful and very friendly there. They're very thorough regarding taking care of my mom. The food is really good. It's good quality. I've tasted some of it, and it's very tasty. We also have our own some kind of managed care, so that seems to be well. The nurses are diligent about ensuring that she is taking her medications and that things are working well. So far, I've been really happy with the place. The place feels like a hotel. It's comfortable. The staff is accommodating. I feel that she's in a good place. My mom has her own apartment. It's a bedroom, a living room and a kitchenette with a nice big bathroom that accommodates a wheelchair. It's just a nice apartment. It's clean, and it has its air conditioner and heater. She can control her heat or air. It's relatively modern, so that's good. It's a nice place. She has been there for two weeks now. They have assisted living with nursing care and the other facilities were not as accommodating, so this one seems to be the best place.

My aunt is at Five Star Premier Residences of Yonkers. It is a lovely place, and it looks like a hotel. It's very clean and beautiful. The rooms are very nice. She has a 1-bedroom apartment there, which is more than adequate. The building is kept very well. They have nice activities, but of course now everything is suspended. She is very happy there. I have eaten there, and it was very good. They have Bridge, weekly cocktail parties, lectures, and movies. They have a salon, a library, and a nice auditorium where they can sit and view either a movie or go to a lecture. They have a beautiful outdoor garden where you can sit. We would stay there if we had enough money.
