I visited this facility

I liked Atria Forest Hills. It's beautiful. There's adequate parking. Everything is close. You don't have to walk a great distance. I saw a one-bedroom and a studio and they're lovely. Everybody was so friendly, even the aides walking around. Everybody knows names. They had more structured activities where you form your own games. Everything was beautiful. They showed me a menu. They offered to have me come for a meal, and they told me to come with my son; I just haven't yet. The library was not as extensive as I would have hoped and it's not that big.

Atria Forest Hills was nice. They were very friendly and kind. They showed me the shared room where you share a common area and a kitchenette, but you have separate bedrooms. They have a one-bedroom. The rooms were very clean and well kept. I only met with the manager and the nurse. They were very nice. The outdoor gardens were nice but a little small. They had a library. Everything was nice and clean. They have someone there, but the guest can still leave and walk out. Some older folks may wonder, so that was my only concern.

Provider Response

Hello Dameon, Thank you for visiting us, and please don't hesitate to reach out again if we can support your family more in the senior living search.

Atria Forest Hills is a very good facility. It was very clean. The upkeep was really above par. The staff who gave me the tour were very helpful. I looked at assisted living and independent living.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom moved into Atria Forest Hills Assisted Living two weeks ago. It's a beautiful facility and very friendly. The room is very, very nice with a beautiful view of the park. My mother is very happy with the food. There's a whole range of activities from arts and crafts, to movies to lectures, to exercise.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother moved into Atria Forest Hills. She doesn't have any additional needs. They don't do any showering for her, give her medications, or anything. She's in independent living. The people are so kind and so helpful. They know all of their residents. It is clean and pristine. Everything is new and comfortable. The care is phenomenal. They check in on her all the time. She has choices for meals. They have lots of activities. She's been to about six activities since Saturday, where she never went to anywhere before. It's like starting a new life for her or reverse of life because she's been living alone in a three-story house. She wasn't able to get out or see anybody. Her life has changed to where she cares about what she looks like and is happy to meet and talk to people. I could not be happier. This place is a God sent and the people that work there. They are perfect. They are fabulous. It's a little expensive, but well worth it.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm in Atria Forest Hills. It took a while to adjust to being in senior living, but after a while it became all I hoped it would be. It fulfills all of my needs that they can in a good way. I am happy with the services. I am very happy with the staff and the people that I deal with. I think that everything that was promised to me in terms of care, of medical attention, of cleaning and maintenance, of food, all of that are excellent. The issues I had in the beginning had to do more with an adjustment to the idea of being in senior living, getting used to the idea that I really need help in caring for myself. I wasn't as fully independent and that took a while. What helped is the staff and actually other residents. It creates a real feeling of community among the residents themselves and among the residents and the staff. I know all the staff whom I deal with, I know their names, and they know my name. They greet me when I see them. We can chat and things like that. It really relieves a feeling of isolation that comes with old age. My room has wide windows that overlook a very nice neighborhood, Flushing Meadow Park which has a lake, and I have a view of the Queens Zoo, a museum and other things. There is a playground right across the street attached to a school. There are always people in that, so that's good. It's mainly a residential area. There are beautiful homes in the area. It's safe, and it's fairly easy to get around. We have a driver who will take us within seven miles of the facility. If we need further, they will arrange for that, too. Covid was a very hard time. We were in quarantine for probably six months or so and we're confined to our rooms. We had very limited contact with staff and no contact with other residents. That was not a fun experience. Ordinarily, there is a wide range of activities here. There are games and things like that if you are interested. There are movies every day, there are learning activities, and a person comes in once a week to lead us in a session on current affairs, that's very popular, another in which we debate current topics. There's no swimming or things like that. There are two morning sessions of physical fitness that are very popular by a staff. From experience, they are more than the equivalent of what you would get if you went to physical therapy. It's at least a half hour or more of activities for different parts of your body. It's well attended and helpful. My only concern is not something that they have control over, it's expensive. It's in the high price range for what it offers. Eventually, that may cause me to have to leave here because the price goes up a certain percentage every year. That's really my only complaint about it. As a facility, as a residence, in terms of what it's offering, I don't have any complaints.

I visited this facility

I went to Atria Forest Hills. The rooms were too small, and they didn't have a kitchen. It made me feel like a resident in a facility, and it didn't seem like a real apartment. It seemed like I was not an adult anymore. The staff was wonderful. The food was good. The place is attractive and attractively set up given the area, which is a city area and not a country (not even the suburbs really). However, I felt like I was becoming a dwarf if I move in there. It really didn't give the feeling of being spacious. You felt cramped there.

Looking for the right assisted living community for your loved one can surely be stressful and time consuming. So, here I am in the hopes of making this process easier for many of you. If you're looking in Queens, New York, Atria Forest Hills will not disappoint you. Christina, the community sales director, has been such a pleasure to work with and beyond helpful in my search for the right assisted living center for my aunt and uncle. Thank you, Christina, for treating us like family. We are forever grateful for you and this experience. From the stunning greenery around the property to the "home sweet home" vibe suites, it will warm your heart knowing your loved ones will be in such a wonderful place.

Provider Response

We couldn't agree more, Natalie! Thanks for sharing your experience!

Atria Forest Hills was beautiful and I loved it from head to toe. Christina was amazing. For a queen, it was perfect. I couldn't say a bad thing about it; it was absolutely stunning and clean from head to toe. The people were so nice; she was lovely. I'm so disappointed that I couldn't take my dad there because it's an adorable place. It's small being only ten floors. The rooms were adorable. They have studios and one-bedrooms. Assisted living is set up to where you'll do everything that the independent living does, but then if you need medications or help with showering, it's extra money. They were friendly, they went out of their way to make me feel comfortable, and they introduced me as Patty to everybody. They were just overall amazing people, every one of them I met. I met the director, I met whoever was there, I met the people, and I met the older residents. They were sweet. You can walk around the grounds, and they were very, very nice. Everything was clean and in its place; everything was spotless.

Provider Response

Thanks for sharing your kind compliments of our team, Patty. Our staff takes pride in going above and beyond. Thank you for sharing your experience!

Atria Forest Hills was beautiful, but you have to have a lot of money to go there. It was like $6000 for a one bedroom but includes everything. It's a beautiful place, and you get everything. It was like a hotel, and everybody was wonderful. We checked a 1-bedroom with a little living room and a little place where you have a refrigerator.

Atria Forest Hills was spectacular. This place was gorgeous and located in a very nice residential neighborhood. The building was very nice, bright, and airy. The one-bedroom apartment was big, but it was also very expensive. The woman who helped us was very pleasant and very knowledgeable. They have a country kitchen with snack bar where the clients could get a snack of something like cookies.

I like the location of Atria Forest Hills in relation to the city. It's a nice place, comfortable, and generally well-run. The employees are nice and know what they're doing. The food is generally good; it's not necessarily perfect, and when you have a complaint, they do try to work on it. They have an excellent physician who's here twice a week. They clean your room every day and do your laundry weekly.

My father moved into Atria seven weeks ago. It was a little small, and their dining area is not quite efficient. We chose this because of location.

We were treated very well, and they gave us a really nice tour. Atria Forest Hills was in a very high end residential area, no place to walk to, even though there was a park right there, and it overlooked the highway. Depending upon the apartment that you had, you could watch the planes fly into LaGuardia, and you could see some of the New York skyline, but other than that it was just an apartment building in the middle of a residential neighborhood.

My friend chose Atria Forest Hills because when she visited the facility she had a good feeling of the place. The facility seemed very attractive and well designed. It also felt very comfortable. She is in a studio apartment, and it has a beautiful view outside. It overlooks a park. My friend seems happy. It seems the staff were attentive and pleasant.

I went to visit Atria Forest Hills. The facility was fine, but the residents looked terrible. They were all white as ghosts. They looked like they never went outside. I have a small apartment in Manhattan, but the apartments at Atria are even smaller.

My dad is in Atria. The staff seems to be very amenable. They seem to be caring people, and they seem to get along well with each other. When I was eating lunch there, the chef came out, introduced himself, and gave me some jam. I like they way the rooms are furnished, and I like their taste in furniture. The showroom is actually the room where my dad is living now, and he has a good bed. The place is clean. It is nicely built and decorated. The layout is good, and I thought, "Wow! I wouldn't mind living here!" However, my dad is critical about the food because he said, "They could put more spices on the food." He likes more spice and not so bland.

We had an excellent visit. They had planned a very complete tour for me. The staff was extremely helpful. They answered all my questions and showed me different options. I was extremely impressed with the facility and the residents seem happy and well occupied. They had activities going on and it was a very pleasant location. My daughter and I liked it so much that we went there and made a deposit, unfortunately my mom passed away two weeks after that. I wouldn't mind going there myself someday when the time comes. It's a very, very nice place.

This center is located in a naturally occurring retirement community so there are many resources for the elderly. The care here is great and provides my grandfather with many activities to do. It is closeby, so I do have the chance to frequently visit.

My grandmother lived at Atria for 11 years of her life, although she wasn't as happy as she was before she had assisted living it was easy to tell that the people at Atria are friendly, well trained and truly care about making Atria a new home for these Senior Citizens. Everything in Atria is kept very clean and sanitary form the lunchrooms to the bedrooms you can tell that Atria has a fantastic cleaning service. Also, the food is far from what you would expect form a nursing home as the variety of food choices makes it impossible to get bored of it as my grandmother told me. Even though my grandmother passed away a few years ago which brings me great sadness, i take comfort in that she was able to enjoy that last few years of her life in what is my opinion the best nursing home in New York State. Atria Forest Hills is an upscale retirement home located in Forest Hills, NY. I recently visited an elderly friend of mine at the facility after he was admitted to Atria last Fall and I was extremely pleased with almost everything Atria provided for my friend. Upon entering Atria, I was greeted warmly by the staff at the front entrance and proceeded through a rather lavishly decorated lobby to my friends room. It was immediately evident that Atria was an upscale retirement home; it didn't even feel like i was in an assisted living facility. All of the hallways, the rooms, the dining area, even recreational areas were pleasantly decorated and didn't have the hospital-type feeling that is notorious with these types of places. My friend even raved about the treatment he was receiving at Atria; he made a point to complement the nurses and staff for being so nice and attentive with him. He also seemed to love the planned activities that the retirement home had planned for its residents, such as card games, live performances, movies and even occasionally trips outside the facility. Atria Forest Hills made a great impression on me and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable, upscale retirement facility.

The assisted living facility names Atria in forest hills is a very clean and welcoming enviorment. The nurses are kind and very efficient at their job. I would visit my friend every so often and he would always be content with the service he received. Even though many people have mixed reviews about this place. I am fully content with the care. I would though recommend an increase in staff, there is a need of more nurses since the population is growing. This is expected when a place is really good. If it was not it would be a silent boring place to leave your family.
