Assisted Living Reviews for Atria Crossgate

I visited this facility

We visited Atria Crossgate. I liked that they were very friendly. The people seemed happy and very nice. The staff and guy who took me around were friendly. It was a very friendly place, and the people seemed like they were in good spirits. I thought the kitchens were a little shabby and should probably be updated for the residents.

I am/was a resident of this facility

The staff at Atria Crossgate give me the support that I need. The people are wonderful. My room is very nice, and the dining room is fabulous. We have a chef, and the food is very good. They have movies every night and games as well. We also go shopping. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother-in-law is in Atria Crossgate. I find that it is an adequate facility. I sense that the residents are kept safe, well-fed, and clean. It is not a luxurious facility. There are aspects of the building that are not as first rate as they can be largely because of the age of the facility. There are many activities, and there seems to be very caring personnel. I think that I am satisfied. The dining room is welcoming. The food is varied. There is a chef from the Culinary Institute of America. They attempt to make the meals appealing. They seem to have many choices. The one thing that is clear is that the size of the dining room is not sufficient for the number of residents, but they do have two sittings. Indirectly, that is a good thing because I know that at many places have controversies for what time they like to eat. There are always people that are early risers who eat dinner early and go to sleep early, and there are people who feel that that is too early. So by actually having two sittings, they are probably being more accommodating to their residents' needs.

I visited this facility

The Atria was my least favorite of the places I visited. It is a very old building. It has low ceilings. The rooms are really small. The paint and all the woodwork need a paint job on the inside. The air conditioners are in the windows, and they have aluminum foil around the air conditioners so the heat doesn't come in. It's a really a cob job everywhere you look. It was clean, but it was still really old. The pipes, when you go into the bathroom, might have a little rust on them. There was one girl to show us around, and she was great, very friendly and knowledgeable. The dining room is just small, like the cafeteria, and then there are little tables there. You're right on top of the table next to you; there's no room in between the people. Outside is nice looking. It's the inside. Some of the rooms, if you're in that part of the building, look out at the woods, which are pretty. They have deer there, and the deer do come up to the building and up to your bird feeder if you have a one. They invited us for lunch, but we went to where they were cooking. The chef was making cheese blintzes, and he was sautéing them and buttering a frying pan, which was greasy. It was not a healthy option.

I visited this facility

I liked the location, the cleanliness, and the friendliness of Atria. The rooms were very big. They were nice rooms. They had a full bath and a kitchen. The staff was kind and friendly. The dining area was clean, neat, and organized. It was a well-structured and modern building.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We felt mother needed more socialization with people her age and that she would have some interaction other than just being at home. So, we picked Atria Crossgate on that criteria. She stayed there for four years, which indicates that we were pleased by her being there. I liked the ambiance because it was small and she did not have to go on an elevator to get to her quarters. She stayed on her own studio apartment. The people around her were caring. The other residents were very nice and considerate. I liked the fact that it is very low key. It had a fireplace that kept lit in the wintertime which was very cozy. It is small enough that you get the feeling that people are not remote. People are familiar. A lot of the caregivers were Indian, which was a little difficult. We were dealing with people who have heavy accents. We're not sure they understand or know the culture that well, so that was a little off putting. But that was only in the very end that we had that.

Provider Response

I will certainly share your review with the appropriate departments to make sure that our communication with residents and families is clear so that we meet the expectations of those who choose to live with us. If we can be of any assistance to you at any time, please contact us at and be sure to include the Atria community name in your subject line.

Independent Living Reviews for Atria Crossgate

I visited this facility

Atria Crossgate was a nice place, but the price was too high. The facility was nice. However, the price as I understood was more toward assisted living and not independent living. I did not investigate too much further after I found out what the price was.
