I visited this facility

I like that Monroe Village has a lot of activities. It is very modern, and they offer a lot of things. The apartment is pretty nice. It has a kitchen. It's a nice-sized apartment. There's a stove and a refrigerator. The staff member who toured me around was very helpful and very nice. They serve three meals a day. They have a garden area and a greenhouse as outside spaces.

Provider Response

The introduction and tour of the facility was very good. We were glad that our Mother was going to a place that appeared to meet her needs and she moved in approximately 1 and a half years ago. Unfortunately since she moved in, she has experienced a steady decline in services. Some of the decline was understandably due to COVID but the facility has not evolved since, with lack of social services and an extreme drop off in both the quality of the food and the availability of food service. Many of the residents feel the same way and have voiced their concerns to management, which have not been addressed adequately.

Provider Response

We are sorry to hear that your experience with Springpoint did not meet your expectations. Providing a safe and healthy environment for all residents, while giving friends and family members comfort and peace of mind, is our top priority. We stive to deliver quality services and the assurance that our residents and their wellbeing always come first. We appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention and will thoroughly investigate them. Monroe Village has an open-door policy, and we welcome you to reach out to Jay Whiteman, Senior Executive Director of Monroe Village and Village Point Rehabilitation & Healthcare, to share specific information on how we can do better for the community. Thank you.

My parent has had nothing but grief from this management. Her bathroom was flooded by a customer who was not appropriate to live in independent living. my parent called for help to mop up and was told that maintenance wasnt available after five. she did it herself. when we complained to corporate , they made her sign an agreement where she promises never to complain again. can you believe this? there are no lights in the parking lot for days. they are ignoring our calls to fix it. there was a customer w altzheimers in the independent part who was banging on the doors at two am. it took them 7 months to get her moved. another flooding occured in their apt, when the plumber upstairs made a mistake when he was fixing something. no apologies, no checking for moistness. and the attitude is so horrible, speaking down to residents, have heard this from other residents. stay away from Jay and cindi, the managers. for the first few months of covid, i complained that staff werent wearing masks properly and were entering the apt. Some of the kitchen staff is very sweet to the residents.

I visited this facility

Monroe Village was the best and most comprehensive facility that I've visited. My parents are not there yet, but the rooms were all very nice, relatively new, well-kept and in very good condition. The staff was informative, professional, and polite. It was a very good experience. The dining area was probably one of the nicest parts of the place. It looked beautiful and it resembled a ski lodge, like there's a lot of wood, it's warm and it's very nice. They had a full calendar of daily events, transportation services, a big new gym for the residents, and an indoor swimming pool.

Provider Response

David, we are so happy to read such a great review about Monroe Village! We look forward to your next visit and can't wait for your parents to join our Life Plan Community! Kind regards, Monroe Village

My mom is going to be moving soon to Monroe Village. We toured it, and it was absolutely fantastic. It has been a slow process for us, but they have been absolutely fantastic. The salesperson, Karen, was not forceful. She's super kind and super helpful. Every person that I spoke with on the way has been absolutely amazing, and I am pretty picky. The room that we chose was the model. Even though it was the model, it was beautiful, and they will still be repainting it and changing the carpeting. The dining area was beautiful. It was called the Fireside, and it had a big brick fireplace in the middle of the dining room. Of course, they changed their seating plans and all because of Covid. In fact, my brother and I both said it reminds us of a Florida hotel rather than a residence. It was absolutely clean, and everything was updated. I was very surprised that it is a 30-year-old facility; I thought it was absolutely new. Everything was updated including the carpeting and the painting.

I am very impressed with Monroe Village. The woman who took us on the tour was wonderful, very informative, and really helpful. They have tiered costs that you have to pay upfront, plus a refundable deposit versus a non-refundable one. You can pay extra to ensure that if you require hospitalization or skilled nursing, your cost would not change. They have a pool and an auditorium for concerts. They have a couple of different options for eating: formally or buffet-type. They have a very nice dining room, library, and a card room. They have some larger apartments that are kind of new. It seems to me that when someone vacates an apartment and if that apartment has not been upgraded, they will upgrade it before the new person comes in. It’s like moving into a new apartment. They put in new cabinets and change the carpeting. Each apartment has a nice, enclosed three-season room, which is the balcony but enclosed enough that you could spend winter out there also. They have a nice courtyard to walk around in. The people were very nice. They are also building a very large skilled nursing facility in the property. I think it’s going to be a 100-bed facility.

Monroe Village was nice, attractive and I knew a few people that lived in that area. I couldn't find an apartment there that was to my liking. They have all kinds of activities.

I visited this facility

I was looking for a facility for my husband and myself and we looked at Monroe Village. The place is big and they've just got everything we need. Everybody we spoke with likes living at the facility. We liked the apartment and everything there. There were no negatives and it was the best place we saw.

Monroe Village is closer to where I live and it has everything that I am looking for. The food is excellent. The rooms are nice in size. It feels like you are in an indoor resort. The doctors and staff are cordial and they cover 24/7 round-the-clock service. They have two calendars of activities on the board. They have activities within the place. They have activities outside in the general area. They have bands, symphonies and people doing plays go in and perform for the residents. Buses are in their disposal to wherever they want to go like ballgames, malls and restaurants. It has a homey atmosphere and my dad is happy there.

The facilities were clean and comfortable. Even temperatures throughout (which is of great importance to the residents). The food was all hand prepared in the kitchen, and the orderlies and support staff were prompt and courteous. Anecdotal evidence from my grandparents says that most of their experiences were positive, with occasional rudeness from the staff. For what little they could afford, they were happy living there before they passed. Insurance/welfare was covering most of their stay, so i can't speak to the pricing. Overall this seemed like a good place for retirement/community or end of life care.

I visited this facility

Upon my visit to Monroe Village, I noticed the place seemed well kept, clean and had a generally good atmosphere. The female security guard (I forgot her name) was extremely friendly and helpful. While the place seemed nice it appeared to be controlled chaos for the staff. They were constantly juggling residents and emergencies but seemed to keep an excellent demeanor about them. Monroe Village seemed like it would be a great place to stay but horrible to work at.

This facility was very easy to access since it was only a few miles from my house. Now the cleanliness of this facility wasn't the best, but I still rate it on a 8/10 or 4/5. The facility was a cost friendly place. Many of my friends mother's were also attending the facility creating a great enviorment for my mother as well as her friends. As I said about the cleanliness, it wasn't the best. When replacing bed pans in and around my room, it was a bit of a hassle and quite smelly, even though I wasn't able to smell that well. It also was very crowded. Over All it was actually ra really good place to stay.
