I visited this facility

I went to Brookdale Florence. They didn't know I was coming which I thought was strange. So whoever I talked to never showed up. I waited almost half an hour before I think somebody else came and said, we didn't know you were coming. I don't even know who she was. She took me on a quick tour, but it wasn't something she usually did. It just looked to me very unorganized, very disorganized. I was just shown the common area. I met one woman, and I'm not even sure what her position was, but she seemed nice enough, she was apologetic. It just seems a little older facility seems a little smaller. I knew really by the time I walked out, I knew it was not where I was going to bring my mother.

I visited this facility

Brookdale Florence was fabulous. They were terrific there. It looked very appealing to me, the people were watching a movie, and other people were waiting to go to a cooking class. The residents looked happy and then the people that greeted us were very, very friendly. It felt like a good place. The rooms were fine. I think we saw one private room and one shared room. So it was to a shared room with two bedrooms with a bathroom that the people would share, but the whole place was very clean and it was very nice. The woman that showed us around her name was Wendy, and she was marvelous, just a delightful human being and so compassionate and kind and just lovely. She just really made me feel a whole lot better. She was a ten.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father moved into Brookdale Florence, and it worked out perfectly. The recommendation was fantastic. The staff is very caring and helpful. The food is what made my father decide to go there. They have several professional chefs. My father has a tendency to be a little picky, and he has loved everything. It's very homey looking. They have activities. He, unfortunately, has not chosen to participate in most of them yet. We're hoping in time he will do so. Apparently somebody brought in a dog for like pet therapy and the whole tone of his voice changed. It made him so happy that he got to fool around with this dog. It's only been a short period of time, but it seems like the activities director has a lot of good things going on for them. I have nothing but praise about that place. My brothers are handling the finances, and it is pretty reasonable. I think they were actually happy about what the rate was because we got a special. I think that it was what they expected to pay, possibly maybe a little less for now.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is a resident of Brookdale Florence. That's more of assisted living facility, not really a long-term care. We're hoping she doesn't have to go to long-term care, but if she does she may have to go somewhere else. She needs help because she broke her hip. She was recovering from hip surgery. She needs more care due to a break in her hip. She needs like help getting out of bed, going to toilet, she's not walking, so she needs help getting her out of bed, getting dressed, and getting a shower. They're not set up for a long-term care, which she may need. We don't know if she may need long-term care yet or not, but they don't really have adequate staff on the night shift, so they have like one med tech and one aid on the overnight shift. So that's what we're concerned with. The price is a little bit too much worth. It's a good living atmosphere, it's a nice facility, it's adequate. I'm not sure if it could meet her needs in the future 'cause of her health declining; breaking her hip and having problems.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad was in Brookdale Florence for around five months. My dad was in assisted living, but his memory is not good. The staff was fine, I had no problems with them, and they pretty much seemed like family. It's pretty clean in there, the food was really good, they made the meals, and wait on the residents. They had events, the families were invited, like Valentine's Day, and they had a dinner. That was nice.

My dad has been in Brookdale Florence for a little while now. It's a very nice place and it's very clean. The rooms are very nice. They provide entertainment for the residents and try to keep them busy. We like the location and the people. Overall, they've been very kind and seem to be caring. Dad is getting worse. We're hoping he can stay here for a while because his health is failing. The only thing that has happened so far that I was not happy with was they had to change his room. We knew he was going to switch rooms, but now he's going to change rooms twice. I was not really happy about it but things happen. It was out of their control, it was a bit of a mix up. I don't really have anything negative to say about the place at all. So far, so good.

I visited this facility

Brookdale Florence seemed clean and like it would probably served our needs. I have nothing negative to say about it. The staff was very helpful and showed us around. It was a good visit. We saw three different room options that were a little smaller than I thought they might be, but they certainly would have been adequate.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mom was at brookdale Florence for 10 months the place was ok until mom needed more care. As long as you are ok on your own you may be fine if you need any type of extra care get out of this place they will tell you they can handle it when in reality they can not.weekends and evenings there is no supervision so good luck with what you get. My mom had to go to the hospital twice which we took her ourselves because the medical staff is too incompetent. They did call the ambulance for her when the aid who was supposed to be taking care of her neglected to do her duty and mom wound up in trauma ceter with split opened head and broken hip, so glad we paid extra for extra care. If you have someone here pay close attention they talk a good game but their only true care is money. The management leads by example that explains why the staff is incompetent. Beware

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Sterling House is fairly new, and she seems happy with the care they’re giving. I know they have religious gatherings, bingo, a bus that takes them to town for shopping. The facility is very nice; I wouldn’t mind moving in there myself. They have a dining room, activity rooms, and a meeting area with television. When you first come in, it has sofas -- sort of a big living room. She actually has a patio, and it’s like a courtyard out there which is really nice. The only reason I didn’t give them a 5 was sometimes when you’re looking for a staff member, it’s a little difficult to find them.

I didn’t stay for long at Sterling House during my visit because they did not have a program specific to people with dementia, but the place had no medicinal smell or bad smell. The residents that I saw seemed happy and satisfied. The staff seemed to be attentive. The facility and the grounds are beautiful.

Sterling House was a good place, I was impressed. They have a homey feeling. Their rooms were good and looked comfortable. They were not really big, but for person, they were spacious. Their dining room was good too. It was small but very cozy. The staff was very nice. They seemed very competent. I talked to one of the residents and she seemed very happy and very nice. However, this facility has fairly limited activities for their residents.

Sterling House of Florence requires cash up front and that's why I couldn't get involved with them, but the staff were all fine. The rooms are very nice. This facility was my first choice because of the location. I would definitely recommend this facility and I have a lot of relatives and friends that had been in there.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We went to visit my Mother-in-Law who has been staying here since a couple of months. The best part about this place is that the personal care plans are tailored for your individual comfort. They have well furnished individual apartments here. The place is awesome. They have trained staff to help residents with daily activities like bathing, clothing selection,Grooming and dining. The medical staff is also available to take care of the people. The House keeping staff takes care of all the sanitation and other activities. The food is also very good and nutritious. The best part about this is that the service fees is also reasonable. They regularly have get together and gatherings and even have recreational activities to keep the residents busy. Its really a wonderful place away from the busy city life with a calm and serene environment.
