My parents stayed at The Chelsea at East Brunswick for about three years. It was generally a good experience. We had a few problems along the way that I had to complain about as far as the housekeeping was concerned, but my parents were happy there. The food and the care were good. They had plenty of activities and kept them busy. They did very well during COVID. They lost a few people, but generally, most people stayed healthy. They were very careful about it. They had a separate dining room where you could go into the dining room if you visited your family and wanted to eat with them. It was very expensive.

When I went to The Chelsea at East Brunswick, I saw staff interacting with the residents, which I liked. I kind of felt like I had to see something like that to see how they treated the residents. They were all very friendly. The residents even said hello to me. It was a nice community. I'm leaning more towards that one only because mom has about two years to pay out of pocket, and if she's a little short, they'll work with me. That's the conversation I had with the people at The Chelsea. I want to make sure that they would have a room for my mom when she switches over to Medicaid. They also have people in-house that I could deal with for that transition when that happens. The woman at The Chelsea was very nice. Every question I asked her, she had an answer. When you go visit, on your way out, they give you a little box and it's something from their bakery that the chef made and this happened to be a blueberry muffin and it was delicious. I didn't save it for anyone. I ate the whole thing myself. The facility was very clean, very new, and very updated. They had beautiful flooring down. They have a hair salon, and they have certain doctors come in like podiatrists and things like that for the residents. They have their cable TV, and they try to keep them out of their rooms and involved in all kinds of little activities there, bingo, baking, stuff like that.

Mom is very, very happy at The Chelsea at East Brunswick. They're very caring, the place is beautiful, and they're very attentive. The only negative is the food is not great, but I don't think any of the food is great in these places. Most of the staff are very friendly and attentive, but there are those for whom it's just a job. They need to get a new chef. The place is elegant; it's not modern, but it's well kept. Mom is now in the memory care unit. She was in the assisted living in the first couple of months, but she's been moved over to memory care. She's safe and comfortable, and it's very homey.

The Chelsea at East Brunswick has wonderful aides, who are always helpful and always smiling. I enjoyed living here. The ladies are very nice. The residents are very nice. It's casino night today, so we're playing casino games like blackjack. We play bingo and we do a lot of crafts, so we're always busy. The food could be better. This is a rather old facility. The bathrooms are not handicapped-friendly. The bathrooms are awful.

The Chelsea seemed to be a superior establishment. The place itself was superior. The rooms for the residents were very superior, too. Food seemed to be good enough. However, they were expensive. The community was well-equipped with amenities. There was a library, a separate room for watching television, and an activity room mostly for games. The list of activities I saw was extensive with a wide variety of different activities. There were lots of different things that different people could do.

I didn't like The Chelsea at East Brunswick. The building's really pretty, but the memory unit was on two floors, which I thought was weird. They have to transport them up and down the elevator to take them to the dining area. I also think they don't have enough aides, especially at night. There's only one aide per floor, so if something goes wrong, the one on the bottom floor has to go to the top, or the top one to the bottom, which is ridiculous. I didn't like the price either. The entrance was $6,000 just to sign up to go there, which was ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend it. The people I met seemed very nice. The tour went fine and they answered all my questions.
