I moved into Cascades of the Sierra. It's got a nice atmosphere and nice people. My apartment is small but comfortable. The food has been very good. They have a workout gym, a beauty shop for hair and nails, an art studio, 3 libraries, some common rooms, and a real bar.

The Cascades of the Sierra was beautiful. It's nicely decorated, pleasant, and has a lot of open areas. There are a couple of dining rooms, a fitness center, and a movie theater. It's just top-notch. The memory care residents seemed to be pretty happy. When I came in, they were meeting together in a common area and several of them waved at me and said hello. So. they're very responsive. They weren't highly drugged or anything like that. I volunteer once a month on a Sunday there. We have a ministry, and so I'm acquainted with several of the residents. I know a gentleman from memory care who seems to be able to get around and interact pretty well. That was encouraging that they don't just keep them confined to one place. The staff is very helpful from my volunteer experience, from the tour I had, and from meeting with the contact person. They have a wonderful program where they do activities every week. It's expensive, but I think you get a lot for that if you take advantage of all the things they've got there. I call this place 'the country club' because it's just above and beyond. I know people that have been there or had their relatives there and they were all very pleased.

Management of this facility is non existent and non communicative with residents. Wellness care staff are great as are the food service staff I spite of being woefully understaff. Lip service with many broken promises by management makes it a very frustrating experience to live here. Many residents complain but little is done to correct the issues.

My mother is in Cascades of the Sierra. It's been a very positive experience placing her there. The people have been very helpful. The pricing was very competitive. They just offered a lot of amenities for us. They have included in the price, their meals, their utilities, cable, wi-fi, room cleaning, garbage removal, laundry, and transportation to events. They have a beauty salon, an exercise room, a theater room, a bar, great rooms, a pool, and lovely landscaped outdoor areas. She got a one-bedroom. Right now, they're starting to do some more stuff.

We chose Cascades of Sierra. They had the services that we were interested in. They also had availability. There was no waiting line to get in. The staff was very nice and very helpful. They have Independent living and assisted living. They had a single bedroom, and they had a strange one where there were two bedrooms together (that was in the memory unit). We got a two bedroom. They have several activities, and they just did a community wide survey of other activities that people would like to add. They're grading their activities. They showed us the dining room, the exercise facilities, and some courtyards for just walking around and getting outside. We saw the crafts room, poker players, and the bar. It's close to a lot of places that those of us who are still independent go to (shopping, places to eat, or exercise places). It's not a radical change from where we are now.

My mother loves Cascades of the Sierra. There are a lot of activities. The staff is really friendly. She's real happy to be coming out of the COVID restrictions. Her apartment is about 900 square feet, so it's got kind of a great room concept. She likes that it's very spacious. It's a one-bedroom, has two bathrooms (which I don't know why because that's kind of waste of space). It's very open. They got a library, a pool, a gym, a theater, and a beauty parlor. They play poker, blackjack, beanbag baseball, Wii bowling, and bingo. The food has kind of gone downhill since Covid. I think they've had trouble keeping chefs lately, but it used to be a 5. They have independent living, assisted living, and memory care. They have buses and vans go out and take them to their doctors. Before COVID, they were taking them out to Walgreens and Costco and stuff like that. They haven't resumed that yet.
