If you must put a loved one in this facility you really need to be a very strong advocate for their care and be aware of EVERYTHING including their meds, etc. If you aren’t prepared to do this you need to find a better facility.

My wife lives in Lancaster Manor. It is not too bad, but it has gone downhill. It used to be a city owned and now it is privately owned, and they don’t run it very well. My wife doesn’t like it, but she has been there for 10 years now. I’ve eaten there a few times, and food is about a grade lower than hospital food. I think if they improve on the meals, everybody would be a lot happier. I know my wife would be. Activities are basic, but they have people come in and play instruments for them and play bingo all of the time.

I visited my father at Lancaster Manor just about every day sometimes twice a day until his death on April 20, 2015. My father was in a couple different nursing homes due to Alzheimer's. I am so glad that he was able to spend his last days here safe and loved. The staff were great, they treated him with love and dignity. Towards the end of his life he needed a lot more one on one time and he really got it. Of course we would have rather had dad at home but this really was the safest place for him. I really can't say enough good things about this place! I am even thinking about volunteering there because its such a great place. I hope this helps I know how hard it is to make these types of decisions.

Fabulous place with even better staff! I was so impressed when I walked in the door for the first time to find it beautifully decorated with state of the art equipment in their therapy gym. My friends mother was there for about a month in their short term rehab unit, and the nurses were AWESOME! And the table side meal service is the best. Of course our resident loved the dessert cart! I would recommend Lancaster Rehabilitation to everyone and anyone. Top notch service by top notch staff.

Horrible place. Don't send your Loved one there. Staff are incompetent. Had a loved one there and wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. Ask for Tylenol and they bring it hours later. The residents diet was soft and didn't get anything soft if they did it was only 2things - for example cooked carrots and mashed potatoes. Our loved one would not received any supper meals if family wasn't there. Who knows about the other two meals. Made medications errors more than one time. Family had to ask to change the depends they don't just check or change automatically every 2-3 hours. My family is nice and friendly to others but the staff always seemed to have an attitude. We only ask for simple things correct meals, actually getting meals, not sitting around in your own waste for hours at a time, correct meds, and fluids. All of which seem to be impossible there. The window you cam to pent because the hand crank is in another room. Really you can't afford to have one in each room?? Numerous other complaint go into the care. Only go there if there are no other openings anywhere and you need a nursing home.

My father in law suffered from type 2 diabetes for years. It got worse as he got older and he also suffered from dementia so would often refuse care. We cared for him in the home until he had to have a leg removed and we were forced to place him in a home for 24 hour care. The transition was hard and the people at Lancastor Manor made it easier. The size of the home is only around 290 beds and the layout includes a yard in the middle where residents can grill sit on benches and enjoy fresh air while still being assisted by staff. The nurses stations are located in the middle of all halls for each floor and i havenever been to the nurses station and had to wait for assistance. They take the time to mot only listen to our needs for him but for the little extra things that make him feel truely at home. This to our family is priceless. They have lots of activities that include all residents and allow for social engaging. The entrance is a security buzz to get in door with a desk for check in as soon as you walk in. This gives us the comfort of knowing that with my father in laws dementia he can not just easily leave the facility. They have an ice cream night and an ice cream machine that family of residents is welcome to and this is great for the kids. I would recomend that if you are looking to place a family memebr in a home that this facitlity be toured and that you call the advisor at 402-441-7101. They have great counclers to assist with the transitiona and a great family support system. When you cant give the care to your family memeber at least make sure they get the kind of care you would.

Lancaster Manor has nurses that care about patients. Each patient is treated with dignity and respect and call lights are a real priority, which unfortunately is not the case in all assisted living facilities. They have staff committed to activities as well as rehabilitation so that each patient has optimum independence. The facility itself is large and has a nice outdoors area for residents to spend time outside. There is also a beauty parlor that many residents seemed to enjoy. Family visitors are welcome and they have a rather "transparent" care system which allows family to be involved in care and be aware of any medical decisions made. This facility has various levels depending on the needs of the resident, and is recommendable to me for someone who wishes their family to be treated with dignity and respect. Nursing skills are important, but CNA personalies are important as well, and I found them to be sincere, compassionate individuals.
