I visited this facility

The staff at Bickford of Raytown was very nice. She took my dad around in a wheelchair because he couldn’t walk very far. The dining room was nice. The do have assisted showers if they need help, and they did have 3 meals a day.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Bickford of Raytown's rooms were excellent, but the food was not so good. The care was not good. When my mother-in-law needed assistance, it's a long time of waiting for her to get help. The girls did not do a very good job of helping her.

Provider Response

I am sorry to hear about your mixed experience with our Bickford of Raytown branch. As the director I strive to make sure our residents and guests have a wonderful experience. I appreciate your review and hope your future experience with us is pleasant.

Bickford of Raytown was very nice, but it was way out of our price range. It would've been great, and it would've been much better for my mother. Unfortunately, her finances couldn't stretch far enough for her to go there. They have a timeframe for when they serve their meals, so if you don't get down there right at 8:00, they don't stop serving until 9:00 or 9:30; which was better. Also, she's got early onset Alzheimer's, so she's going to need to be in a locked facility. It's locked from the inside, and they're more equipped when she gets to that stage to where she's really wandering. The dining room was spacious, and clean. The residents looked really active. They had a lot of activities, and they had an activities director. They looked like people who were pretty much engaged in social activities. The only thing that bothered me was the price. They could make it a little more affordable.

The staff at Bickford of Raytown was wonderful. The feeling of the building was dark, though we were there at dinner and we were seated right next to the dining area. Not a single resident spoke to us, so we decided it was not a good place for my friend to be. The room they showed us was a studio, and my friend did not like it.

We chose Bickford of Raytown because it's closer to us and it has what mom needed. It was a smaller place and it has worked out pretty well for her. Mom has been very happy there. The food is great and the rooms are good. The staff was great as well. They have exercises Mondays through Fridays every morning. They also have two or three activities everyday like Bible study, crafts, and entertainment coming in.

The staff members at Bickford of Raytown are very caring and attentive to the needs of the residents; they are very good. The facility is modern, and it is like a home. They have Bingo and different outings, they have devotional services, and other things like that. My dad says the meals in the evening are not too good. They really score high on a lot of things, but there are just a couple of things like the meals in the evening and their medication is where they kind of got a little bit off track.

The rooms at Bickford were very nice. They had studios and one-bedroom. We dropped by on a Saturday and they were very accommodating. They showed us around. It was a little bit older facility, but they were in the process of adding a memory care units.

I visited this facility

While in Missouri, we visited the Bickford of Raytown while looking for possible assisted living facilities for our aunt. We stopped in on the spur of the moment and were glad the staff was happy to show us around, despite the fact that we didn't have an appointment. The grounds around the main doors were nicely kept, with flower beds and nicely manicured grass. The interior was inviting and we could smell fresh flowers. The décor was quite nice and fresh. The foyer was nicely decorated and seemed homey, as did all of the communal rooms. The rooms were all clean, well-kept and conveniently designed. They took the time to personalize to each resident's tastes. The activity calendar featured many healthy and stimulating activities. We liked that the staff encourages participation and tries to make everything interesting for its residents. They have outings to local libraries, events, cultural events, restaurants, shopping and athletics. They also take suggestions to update the schedule. The dining areas were nicely designed and warm. Residents may choose communal dining or more private situations. The food we saw looked and smelled delicious. The menus included food options for all kinds of diets. Residents could also make special requests. There were places for residents to visit with families, as well. The communal areas were nicely designed with easy to access furniture and a comforting decor. There were plenty of nice areas for quiet time as well as socializing with other residents and friends, family and other visitors. The residents were encouraged to enjoy physical activity as much as possible. They may take exercise classes such as yoga and aerobics, or use the weight training and other equipment. They may also enjoy the nice outer walkways around the courtyards safely. The residents here looked very content in their living environment and were well cared for by attentive, kind and considerate staff.
