I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We chose TigerPlace for my parents because of the overall quality and because they had an apartment available. Their rooms are very nice, the one they're in is pretty small, but it works well for them. It's a nice community. They have some activities for the residents as well like bingo, exercise classes, and they do shopping trips in the community because they have a little store. They also watch movies and they have a theater. Their food is really good; I have eaten there. Everything is as good as can be expected given the situation. The staff is really good, they are attentive to my parents' needs, and they communicate with me, so I have no issues.

I had known somebody who had been at TigerPlace and they were very happy. They were very good with showing us everything. I saw people who were very alert, visiting, and friendly with each other. The staff was great. It's set up so that every room has an outside entrance with a porch that looks out over woods, a garden or over town. They had one and 2-bedroom apartments and everything was clean and gorgeous. They had a lovely dining room and people were sitting and chatting and interacting with each other. They had an arts show going on and they had a complete theater. We were very impressed with it. The menu looked wonderful, too. The guy that took us on the tour was the director and we really liked him. Whatever stage you're in, as you move up or down, they have staff there to deal with it. They have a full kitchen and laundry in each apartment. The food looked good and the people seemed to enjoy it.

TigerPlace is a really neat place that would have been our first choice, but they had a long waiting list. That's where the place, "retirement in place was invited." They found out that aging in place would extend the life of an average person for a year. We had friends there whose apartment opened to an enclosed courtyard, and that's where they keep the pets. You rent an apartment, and the services are brought to your place, so it was more expensive. The food there was great.

TigerPlace was very nice. It was equal to the place that my mother had chosen. The staff seemed very caring, open, and friendly. The rooms were more expensive than the ones at the other place, but they were of a good size. We did see the schedule, and the residents seemed active. It was comparable to the other place. The atmosphere was friendly. The people looked interested. They seemed involved and happy.

Tiger Place was very nice, but too expensive. The people working there were very nice. It looked very attractive. They discussed the activities with us, but I couldn't remember them. I liked that it looked very nice and clean, and it was in a good location. They were friendly. The person who accommodated us was super accommodating and perfect. I would recommend it to others if they could afford it.

I am a friend or relative of resident

Tiger Place is an Aging-in-Place community. My dad is a resident there. I can't say enough good things about the staff, facilities and community. The administrator, social worker and director of nursing are kind and compassionate. Most important to me is that they are involved with the residents and day-to-day activities. My mom recently passed and they were there for our family throughout the whole process - even attending her funeral! The head of the dining facility (chef) checked on my parents regularly to see if there was anything he could do. The front desk, housekeeping and dining wait staff couldn't be more attentive and friendly. I don't have to worry about Dad being alone during this difficult time and know that he is in a safe environment where he is able to be as independent as he wants along with staying active in the community events. He has an apartment within the Tiger Place facility and doesn't want to be anywhere else. Oh, I forgot to mention that Tiger Place is tied to the University of Missouri. Student nurses, students in the vet school, and social worker interns also work with the residents giving the extra attention that they love to get. Tiger Place is a first-class facility that promotes a healthy lifestyle and works to keep the residents "young at heart"! Check them out and talk to residents when you go.

The Tiger Place independent living facility looked really well-kept from the outside as we drove up. Our uncle has lived in the Columbia region for quite a while and would like to stay in touch with friends and family. We especially liked the park-like atmosphere of the grounds. Our uncle loves to tend the garden and we could see that he would be impressed as well. The main foyer had a lovely receiving area, reminiscent of a quaint country home. It was hard to imagine that this was an assisted living facility. The communal areas all had interesting activities occurring, from reading to games and resident interactions. It was clear that the residents enjoy living here. The living suites were all a nice size and did not seem cramped. They were also beautifully decorated. We could see that our uncle would be comfortable in any one of them. Each unit had individually controlled temperatures. The kitchens all had ample counter space and appliances. This is important, because our uncle has been quite a cook most of his life. He enjoys entertaining, and we could see that he'd be able to do that easily here. The patio areas also had barbeques where they have hosted and private parties. Events and outings scheduled include anything you can imagine "“ from restaurants, to art museums, the library, which our uncle particularly enjoys, to local films and crafts, fine dining and theater. The also host monthly birthday parties for residents at the facility which they encourage friends and family to attend. The dining areas have many options. From more intimate to communal dining, resident can choose whatever they like "“ in addition to hosing guests in their own spaces. The food choices looked nutritious and delicious, as well as the regular snacks "“ offered continually. In all, this is a lovely facility with caring and attentive staff. All of the resident's needs appear to be met easily and efficiently, in a friendly and caring manner.

Great atmosphere! It is such a nice atmosphere here at the Arbors living apartments in the retirement community. We like the residents, and the independent living staff treats our friends well. They have lived here two years and have loved every minute. We like the exercise room and our view of the pond. We tell everyone we know in Columbia to come and tour the facility! The exercise room truly offers the patients an opportunity to stay fit and active. Our friend that lives here has made such an improvement physically since moving in. She also, with the help of the caring dietician, has improved her diabetes and weigh issues. She is truly happy in this home and consistently has the help and support she not only desires but requires. The only negative that I can recall is the cost of this facility. Our friend practically pays her full benefit check and then requires additional aid from her family (and close friends). Her improved health and activity; however, are worth the extra dollars.
