I am/was a resident of this facility

I am a resident of Ocean Springs Health and Rehab. From the very beginning they have made me feel at home, and cared for my needs. They have good standards, and make things nice for everybody.

This is going to be kind of a long review but I believe it will help with questions that some may have, my father was in the rehab for approximately 3 months. Also in and out of the hospital a few times in that stay. He was a very needy person wanted to have the nurses attention whenever he wanted it. The staff was very attentive when they needed to be, there were also times they would leave him alone and he would adjust. I visited everyday. He was in to rehab from complications of sepsis, and cancer but along the way because of heart issues and medication he had a few strokes. This led to him being frustrated and would be agitated with everyone and thing around him. The staff was very patient with him, not myself though, I would get on him for acting out. The facility is clean, the food was not to bad, although after time went on he had to have soft food. The rooms are a decent size at first he had a room of his own that was fairly large with the bed and a couch in it, but went into hospital and when he returned had to share a room which was a little snug but manageable. The only issue I saw was the TV situation. There are 2 in a room and you just cant watch 2 at the same time. They had activities for the residents we were not in a situation to participate. Rehab staff was very good with him and did not push him to do more than he could, all in all my family was pleased with the place. As for the value, he had medicaid that covered so many days. They are also one of the places that have wound care which he needed, and was taken care of on a regular basis.

My mom was put here in November after she had a stroke in October and required 24 hour care. Twice in a few months (April and then late July) she was allowed to go septic. I found her unresponsive in her bed. Did not respond to pain or verbal commands. I was told she had been like that all day. I asked the LPN to call 911. Once she got to the hospital we found out she was in septic shock. After about 2 weeks of being pumped with 3 antibiotics and having aspiration pneumonia from the septic shock, we decided to swap her to hospice care because antibiotics were not working. She ended up passing away August 5. If someone would have even cared that she was in the exact opposite condition than normal (normally fully alert, talking, able to move with her wheelchair) they should have gotten her help sooner. If I wouldnt have told them to call the ambulance, she most likely would have been dead the next day in her bed. Unacceptable!!!!!!

My father was there for 20 months. Unfortunately for his care needs there are not a lot of choices. If someone answers the phone it's unlikely the person you want to talk to will answer theirs. Leaving a message could take days. Some of the staff was good. Upper management seem to be non-existent. At one point my father's finger was broken. After two days of no splints I asked the nurse why and she said she was busy and forgot. They always seemed very understaffed. People calling in sick. Until covid my mother went five days a week to stay with him. I think because of that he got better care than some. Once Cove in started they would not allow us to come in even though they promised we could see him before he passed. Never happened the only call I ever got from them was when he died. Then all the sudden miraculously we could go see him. How does that make any sense. The person responsible 4 transportation to outside appointments never got him there on time. When I complain she was completely rude an Unapologetic

Just got a call for the second time that my mom fell, I really don’t think we will ever know for sure what happened this is a place that I wish she had never been put in . She has had so many UTI’S , and I think they are overwhelmed I don’t want to think that they don’t care , but I for one is not happy with what I see !

My father was transferred to this facility from USA in Mobile after a fall. It's my feeling that this facility should've never accepted my father at his level of care. He fell while at OSHRC. We have no idea how long he was down. They never could get his low salt diet correct. My dad's stay was over the Xmas holidays. The staff was overwhelmed. Never saw a physician. Three years later we've stopped the law suit we were working on for our own mental health. He was transferred back to USA where the physicians were horrified at the wounds on my father's backside and the ancient catheter OSHRC used on my father. To be clear, this was 2 years ago. Still mad. The place looks decent. There aren't a lot of options on the Coast. They did a good sales job on us. Might be decent for minor rehab but not for an elderly man with a nuerological injury.

I was very impressed with this home. Though it is an older home, it is very clean. The staff is friendly and it is obvious that they care about the residents and families. Lots of activities and I loved that I could eat with my family member. The food was great.

Long term not the best choice. Rooms are run down as stated my loved one has 2 broken night stands The drawers will not open. It takes 40 or so minutes if the patient pushes the button for help. Food is not good & cold by the time the patient gets it. They actually lock in visitors and they cannot get out unless an employee lets them out. I waited Saturday 10 minutes. No one in the front hallways and the office was closed. I got out because someone came in. I've tried to get a DR appointment for my loved one for 2 months now and still do not have one. I'm thinking of changing!!

I visited this facility

Ocean Springs Nursing Center had a lot of activities like planning the meals, bingo, going to plays, and exercise. It was nice, very lovely, and clean.

CNAs are good if kept attentive but thet are nice to patients. Patients who have no visitors are left with very minimal care. Doctor is never around and never gives family members updates. Rehab is the worst I've ever seen, rehab staff gives excuses and seems to want to work only with those needing minimal care. Is not a place to take loved ones if you cannot be there often. It is very clean but the rooms are old, beds and equipment are old. Nurses are good but are only there to administer meds, nothing else. Administrative staff is never around patients and are only there to assure funds remain to the facility. If the Doctor and rehab were better I'd give another half star.

Ocean Springs was an outstanding place. I actually had my wife there for short term and it was just a matter of cost. It was the only reason why I didn't keep her there. Their facility was neat, clean, organized and the rooms were nice. The medical staff and the assistants were all good. They had shift workers and the ratio of the care staff to the residents was good. There was always someone available. The meals were adequate and they had activities every day. It was a good facility.

Medicare rated this place 4/5. I would rate it 1/5 or less. The place is run down. There are not enough nurses on staff. The nurses there are not always responsive. My father fell out of bed and broke his hip after he was left unattended for 6 hours. The food is very good, but everything else about the place was terrible.
