Provision Living at Hattiesburg is always looking to further educate our staff on new studies in the areas of Dementia and Alzheimer’s. We also provide an online continuing education class through Medcorp that has courses that are designed for those working with residents with this diagnosis. Whenever possible Provision Living at Hattiesburg outsources educational and training programs provided by the Alzheimer’s Association of Mississippi or other organizations dedicated to providing care and services for those with a diagnosis of dementia. We are always looking to further our education in order to provide the best of care for our residents that call our Memory Care Neighborhood home.

Provision Living at Hattiesburg has a unique mixture of residents. Since we are known as “The Hub City” our residents bring with them the cultures of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and the city of New Orleans. Hattiesburg itself is in the “Pine Belt” of Mississippi and many of our residents have ties to the logging industry. We celebrate the accomplishments of all our residents whether it be a renowned New Orleans physician or a decorated War World II veteran who gave his country his all. Our average age of resident is 86 years young and still going strong. Our residents enjoy being a part of the “Hub City” and participate in adventures that may include a trip to the beach for a picnic lunch or one of our popular restaurants to savor the taste of New Orleans Cuisine.

At Provision Living at Hattiesburg we have a dynamic Activity Manager and she is loaded with energy. Our residents enjoy activities that challenge their minds, bodies, and spirit. Provision Living at Hattiesburg starts the day off with exercise and then the day is filled with games that stimulate the thinking process, men and women’s bible study classes, and break off groups of crafts or crotchet classes. Every Thursday our resident’s bake in our kitchen to provide snacks for the afternoon social. Our Activity Manager is always looking for new outlets to entertain our community. Trips to the Mississippi Gulf Coast casino’s and local restaurants are always a favorite venue to explore.

Provision Living at Hattiesburg is centrally located off Hwy 98 behind Merit Health Wesley Hospital. We are very close from Turtle Creek Mall and other shopping centers including Hobby Lobby and TJ Maxx. We are also located near many restaurants like Olive Garden, Chili’s, and Lone Star. We are 60 miles north of Gulfport, MS and there is always something to do on the coast. Our residents like to visit the museum at Camp Shelby to learn about the heroes of Mississippi or visit the town of Laurel and Laurel Mercantile Co. which showcases items for the HGTV show “Home Town” which is filmed in that city. From shopping to sightseeing, we provide an array of different activities that will interest most anyone who becomes a member of our active community.

Provision Living at Hattiesburg provides transportation to our residents either by our wheelchair lift bus or our company car for single or small groups. We offer free transportation to doctor visits located in the city limits of Hattiesburg. Our concierge service takes residents where they need to go such as beauty shop appointments or shopping with friends. We also offer transportation on Sunday mornings to area churches. Travel that is not to a doctor appointment and does not include 3 or more residents is $1.00 per mile.

The dining experience at Provision Living at Hattiesburg incorporates a mixture of Southern cuisine and New Orleans fare that will certainly satisfy most palates. We serve restaurant style meals in our dining room three times a day. We also offer an alternate menu that offers Heart Healthy substitutes. We have just unveiled our new menu options which will include breakfast options available all day. Whether you are a in the mood for Mississippi fried catfish or New Orleans gumbo-our menu options are sure to satisfy.

Provision Living at Hattiesburg has in place the latest in fire safety standards and life safety codes with a fully integrated alarm system that includes smoke detectors in all resident apartments and throughout the community and a remote connection to a central dispatching system. Our community is a fully-sprinklered ensuring even greater safety for residents. Residents are provided with an emergency call system that is monitored in a central location and alerts staff when a resident needs assistance.
How does Provision Living at Hattiesburg keep residents' families informed about their loved ones?
Provision Living starts communication with families the minute they come into our community. We want to insure all that walk in our doors that they have entered not only an Assisted Living Community but a home ready to embrace a new family member. From the first “Discovery Session” our staff members contact family through email blasts, text, and telephone calls to keep family members up to date on activities in the building to health-related issues. We always try to keep residents and family members informed with information that will make their stay at Provision Living as helpful as possible.
What is the care staff-to-resident ratio at Provision Living at Hattiesburg during daytime and nighttime hours?
Provision Living at Hattiesburg meets or exceeds all requirements that the Mississippi State Department of Health has put in place for operation of an Assisted Living facility. Our goal is to make sure all of our residents receive the care and support they need to thrive in our atmosphere while safely executing their independence.
If Provision Living at Hattiesburg accepts dogs or cats, what indoor/outdoor areas can they enjoy?
Provision Living at Hattiesburg is a pet-friendly community. We understand that pets are family and we want them to live in the community and provide happiness to their owners. All pets must be on a leash when in common areas. Dogs can be walked in the courtyard or along the sidewalk in front of the building. We offer pet services such as dog walking, feeding, and litter changing in case our resident must be away from the community for any reason. There is a fee for this service. We do not allow dogs in the dining rooms at any time.
What ongoing senior care training does the staff receive?
Provision Living at Hattiesburg provides continuing education for all members of our professional staff. These training sessions are tailored to the Senior Living Industry and must be completed by all staff members. We also offer monthly in-services and safety training for members of our staff as well. These in-services are state required and cover topics such as Fire Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Resident Safety, and Confidentiality of resident personal and medical information.
How many staffers are on duty in the daytime and overnight?
Provision Living at Hattiesburg follows all state mandated requirements for staff to resident ratios. In our Memory Care Neighborhood we staff a Memory Care Coordinator, a Licensed Practical Nurse, and two Resident Assistants during the daytime hours. In the evenings we staff two Resident Assistants and a Licensed Practical Nurse. Following state guidelines there will always be at least two staff members in the Neighborhood at all times.
What safety features or security measures does Provision Living at Hattiesburg provide to protect residents who wander?
Resident safety is a top priority at Provision Living at Hattiesburg. Our residents that exhibit a known history of wandering are placed in our Memory Care Neighborhood which is secured by a key pad entry. In the Assisted Living community residents are asked to check in and out of the community. All exterior doors are kept locked and the front doors are locked at 6pm and opened at 6am. We have a doorbell and an intercom system that allows are staff to monitor who comes in the building after hours. We also have 24-hour video security cameras in place.
What programs or activities does Provision Living at Hattiesburg offer to keep residents engaged? How does the staff engage residents' long-term memories?
Provision Living at Hattiesburg offers many activities in our Memory Care Neighborhood which are approved by a Licensed Recreational Therapist. These activities are offered in small increments of time and range from daily devotions, crafts, outside time when the weather permits, and memory stimulating games. We also include our Memory Care Neighborhood residents in larger activities that include residents from our Assisted Living such as musical entertainment and holiday gatherings.
Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?
Provision Living at Hattiesburg relies on the professional assessments provided by our nursing staff, our Memory Care Coordinator, and our Director of Nursing. Resident’s are evaluated at the time of admission to the community and continue to be monitored thereafter. We continue to communicate with family members, physicians, and therapist as residents decline from their initial assessment to make sure they are remaining in the appropriate setting with the correct plans of care. We continue to assist family members find appropriate placement if the decision is made that we cannot continue to meet the residents needs or they are deemed inappropriate for Assisted Listed by the Mississippi Department of Health.
What techniques does Provision Living at Hattiesburg use to support memory care residents during mealtimes?
In our Memory Care Neighborhood our residents are encouraged to come to a centrally located dining area. We serve our residents “family” style so that they can engage with other residents and staff members who sit with them for encouragement. We use colored china to entice our residents to enjoy their dining experience. We also provide many options for our residents for them to receive the nutrition and hydration they need to thrive.
How does Provision Living at Hattiesburg keep residents' families informed about their loved ones' health?
Provision Living at Hattiesburg believes in being proactive about the care of our residents. Upon admission to our community each resident is assessed of their individual needs. This is extremely important for those that will enter our Memory Care Neighborhood. After a care plan has been determined it is set in place. Our staff members monitor our residents and look for changes in eating Meetings with our nursing staff, family members, and our Social Worker to discuss changes and possible solutions to provide the best care for that individual. We encourage our family members to ask questions as we provide support and education for them. We also encourage our family members to speak to us openly about any concerns they may have about their family member. Together we find solutions and options to ensure that resident is taken care of in the best manner possible.

Provision Living at Hattiesburg is centrally located in a business district of Hattiesburg. We are behind Merit Health Wesley hospital off Hwy 98. Hattiesburg is home to the University of Southern Mississippi and William Carey University. This offers many opportunities for our residents to interact with college students in many areas of study. Our location also offers opportunities to explore as we are within a two-hour drive to both the Mississippi Gulf Coast and the City of New Orleans.

Provision Living at Hattiesburg is not affiliated with any hospital, but we are located less than 1 mile of Merit Health Wesley. Hattiesburg is also home to Forrest General Hospital and Hattiesburg Clinic which is also in very close proximity to our location. We utilize and have a working relationship with all of our hospitals, clinics, and rehab facilities in town to ensure that we help our families and residents continue their aging process in the healthiest way possible.
This gracious community sits on the campus of Wesley Medical Center, convenient to Turtle Creek Mall, restaurants, entertainment and other Hattiesburg destinations. Residents enjoy a full schedule of activities and wonderful meals prepared by our chef every day. Their families appreciate having 24 hour staff available to check on their loved ones. Provision Living has studios, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom deluxe Assisted Living apartments along with a wonderful Memory Care neighborhood for those living with Alzheimer's or related memory loss.
