I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Do not let the looks deceive you. This place is HORRIBLE. I removed my mom after 31 days. There are a few nurses who REALLY DO CARE but the mgmt runs through staff and is horrible to communicate with. The patients are mainly dealt with by techs from a short term staffing company so no real backgrounds and the facility loves to place blame on them. Just place your loved one elsewhere

My name is Maggie and I’m a friend of a patient there ! I haven’t been able too go see and attend to my friends needs bc I’m sick n recovering from an injury! Anyhow, it was 2:30 in the am and I called my friend! At which time she told me she was in severe pain n needed to go too the bathroom! It is now 4am and no one at the nurses station has responded to her call light! If u can’t take care of the residents, why are you open!

I am/was a resident of this facility

Greenbriar Nursing Center is great. I like the rehab. They need to improve the breakfast. The staff is good. They have bingo, hair appointments, and painting. They have a courtyard, a salon, outside areas, and a gazebo. It's local and it's near hospitals and restaurants.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I had my wife in a place called Greenbriar Nursing Center. It is a nice place. They're almost brand new, and they're really nice. They couldn't keep her because they don't have the faculty there, and she kept trying to get out the door. She wanders. She was just there overnight. I put her in 2:00 that day, and they called me the next morning and told me that they couldn't keep her there because they weren't set up for a person like her (a dementia patient). It was a nice place. They have shared rooms, but you can pay extra and get a private room. They had all kinds of stuff. They had a library and a big dining room area. They had a nice dining room there. They had a play area where they put them in, and they had puzzles. It was a nice place. It was a lot better than where she is in. It was my first pick. The staff seemed to be really good over there. It's a good layout. They got a lot of nice brand new rooms and they had a couple courtyards. They got a lot of activities. It was $50 more than where she is now. It's not bad anymore. I'd put my wife on Medicaid because I couldn't afford it all. We don't make that much income. Medicaid will pay most of them. I looked at a couple of nice places, and they're $8500 a month and are private homes.

I visited this facility

Greenbriar Nursing Center seemed very good. The staff seemed minimal, but we did go on a weekend. The rooms were nice. They had two people in the one room that we visited and I felt like there could've been a little more privacy and the doors could've been better situated because if you were to open the bathroom door, you'd hit the main door. There were some safety issues there that needed to be addressed. Our friend is on a particular diet and he wound up eating something that he shouldn't have. The gentleman that was there always seemed to be cold. They need to be able to also address the issue of temperature inside the building. The facility itself appeared to be nice. They have a VFW next door, so if the residents want to play bingo, they can do that. The location was OK. However, nobody really said anything to us when we went in. They should have a sign-in sheet for the people that go in there.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I am a family member of a former patient. My mother was at GBNC for two years. Initially the facility was incredibly clean and staffed with qualified and friendly employees. During her second year at the facility staffing changes were evident and the quality of care declined significantly. On at least two occasions new staff members stated they were unaware of certain aspects of her care plan. The lack of training and/or adherence to protocol could have caused significant harm. Over a twelve month period my mother fell several times, including one from a shower seat. The staff stated that they had turned their backs and she fell. This fall resulted in multiple stitches and bruising. My mother also had multiple bed sores.

Greenbriar Nursing Center was very clean, the staff is very friendly, and it's convenient. They have Bingo, and every Friday is spa day. You can get your hair and nails done which is more for the women, but my dad got his hair and nails done once though, and they have a luau and take pictures; every day they got some kind of activity going on. It's homey, cheerful, bright, and clean. Every one of the staff is just as nice as they can be, and if they can't help you, they go and find somebody who can, and every time I deal with them, I tell them that I just cannot believe how nice and wonderful they are. My dad had wounds from when he had 2 hospital stays before he got to them, and they let me know what the other 2 hospitals didn't let me know about his wounds and what they're doing for it. They're very informative, they're able to help me with Medicaid, and they're doing great with my dad's rehab. He went from being paralyzed to up and walking. He's not walking great, but he can feed himself and walk.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My husband received excellent care and rehab at this facility, after a stroke, until he unbuckled his seat belt, fell, and hurt his tailbone. Then they over-sedated him to keep him from yelling until he became helpless, and I had to remove him.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was a patient at Greenbriar a few months ago to help me recover from an extended stay at a local hospital. When I first went there I was a bit skeptical about it. I was unable to walk and had to get around in a wheel chair. Once I was introduced to the physical therapy staff and began doing the various programs for my problem, it was a joy to be there. ALL of the personnel at Greenbriar treated me in a very professional way and was always interested in my welfare. The Physical Therapist are ALL excellent in what they do and did for me to make me walk again. After about 2 weeks, I was able to use a walker to get around and a short time later progressed to a cane. Five weeks after I started, I was able to leave Greenbriar by walking out on my own two feet. I have visited a couple of times to thank the Ladies for their help and support in making me well.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother has been a resident at Greenbriar on different occasions for therapy and now is a permanent resident. It is a wonderful facility staffed by a very caring staff. There is always some activity going on every day throughout the entire day. My mother is still cognicent and well aware of her surroundings and feels extremely safe at Greenbriar. She loves the staff and refuses to go anywhere else.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We visited Greenbriar because the hospital recommended it. It was the nicest facility with the best care that we encountered. The staff there was excellent, the food was very good, there were plenty of activities. The facility was beautiful and there were plenty of places to sit outside and admire the view.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

This facility had been recommended by a friend who was a former patient/resident there. My first impression was that this was a small, well cared for property. This suggested to me that the residents there would be well cared for as well. The decor was updated and cheerful and the building was very clean and odor free. The staff was very friendly and I liked the fact that an R.N. was always on duty. I also liked the fact that this was not a huge sprawling complex where a patient may get forgotten. The facility offered physical rehabilitation, patient activities, an in-house dining facility, and barber/hair salon services. Outside entertainment in the form of singing groups was brought in periodically. A Dr. specializing in geriatric care was on staff and held periodic meetings with the patient's family to discuss the patient's progress or lack thereof. These meetings included the facility staff that care for the patient such as nurses, aides and therapists, providing a 360-degree view of the patient's regimen of care. Meals were served in the dining hall or brought to the bedside as need dictated. The patient, who was a good cook, was somewhat critical of the taste of the food but it was nutritious. Care was taken to keep the facility clean and decorations were set out to recognize the changing of the seasons and holidays. This was a cheerful touch and helped provide a sense of normalcy for the patients and their families.
