I visited this facility

PLEASE DONT TAKE YOUR LOVE ONE TO BRANDON REHAB AND NURSING. Some of the staff is nice and helpful, but if you visit your love one regularly you will notice unpleasant attitudes and flustration of the nurses. We experienced several areas of negligence such as occasionally leaving our love one in soiled depends and bed pads for several hours before changing it, long wait time before a nurse comes to check on your love one after the button has been pressed and they will say we will be back and it's usually 30 minutes to hours after that. The sheets are not changed as needed, clothes are not washed as needed and when they do wash them they get lost and we have to go beg for them in the laundry room. Limited showering for bedridden residents is truly understandable but our love went several days without a wipe down or bed sponge bath. The room was not cleaned or mopped until we complained. Their wound care team was not notified to care for our love one like they told us they would be therefore special care was delayed a week. During our routine visits other residents through the entire unit would ask us to please tell the nurses to come help them and when we told the nurses they would say sure ok we'll go check on so-n-so but when i left the area they would go back to their work station and get on the computer and i observed them still sitting hours later without assisting other residents. BEWARE i previously reported several issues to management and the directors, it changed for a few days but went back to the same old negligence. My advice to anyone if you can find another facility please do and for those of you who have rated good reviews that's great and i must say your loved one was lucky because within the last 2 months (January 2024 to present) this place has been heart breaking and i don't want any senior go through what our loved one experienced. No has control over their health condition, and the caregiver should have compassion for that and strict accountability but sad to say, when the family is not around and management has gone home, it's a different world. BE BLESSED and i'm praying God protection over all his people.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is currently at Brandon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. I've been impressed with everybody on the staff. It looks like they've done some remodeling, but it's an older place. In one of the common areas, they have a TV in there and some tables. It's a nice area that we can go to and visit. Her day room has big windows that have views of the outside, but her bed is old. They have a lot of activities there for her to do.

The center do good to all patients with special love and with a special love and concern for their health. They work as a family and care for each other, they look out for you. This is the place I would go if needed.

I am/was a resident of this facility

The nurse are the worst I have seen in many years.I am a retired Nurse and I know how things should go.Nurses carry dirty clothes and garbage from room to room, with the pandemic that's the worst although it not proper ethics anyway .

I don't know about the other reviews but I do know how they took care of my mother. My mom is a new stroke patient and admitted for rehab. .other purports they take good care of her and even check k on her every hour. Rehab is great and we can see solid improvements with her rehab. She is learning to walk again and is already up using a walker, simply amazing. Mom gives me reports on what she eats each day and it sounds pre6good actually. Nurses and CNA's are nice and ensure she has what she needs. Mother has made numerous friends while at the facility also. Overall, a good group of people that have displayed integrity. I certainly "would" recommend this place to my friends for proper care. I will always be grateful to the staff!

June 2020- DO NOT ALLOW YOUR LOVED ONE TO GO HERE!!! This facilty is horrible. My mom was here for less than 30 days for physical rehab and I believe she left worse than when she arrived. She is physically no stronger than when she went in and she fell out of bed twice and out of a wheelchair one that ended with an ER visit and stitches to the deep cut in her head! Additionally, this facility somehow managed to lose all her clothes and personal belongings including a make up bag with her name on it. Oh we did get 1 slipper! The staff is rude and the leadership seems like they care but lack follow through. The information you get from one person to the next varies and FORGET about reaching anyone including your loved one. ELDER ABUSE IS NOT A JOKE! IF WE WOULD HAVE KNOWN BEFORE OUR MOM WAS ADMIITTED TO BRANDON REHAB AND NURSING HOW HORRIBLE IT WAD WE WOULD HAVE FOUND SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I am/was a resident of this facility

As of March 10, 2017, I am a current resident. I've never been treated unfairly. The staff is nice. The nurses and CNAs are efficient, timely, and friendly. My call button is always within reach. My meal trays are always on time, and the food is good. Residents can also choose to eat at the in-house cafe and Bistro. And the place is always clean. Residents here have rights, and the staff respects those rights. I even have my own Wi-Fi-connected desktop PC , TV, phone, and furniture from home in my room. I also participate in many of the activities here, or go see a movie in the in-house theater. And I have friends here.

My Grandmother was admitted into this facility after a stroke, it only took 1 day to realize her life was in danger. while I was visiting in ONE day this is what i observed, they almost gave her another patients medicine, they are VERY rough, they move the call button out of reach, they do NOT check on patients at night not 1 time, they gave her no breakfast then they gave her no supper until i threw a fit, they don't change depend diapers very often, they talk abusive to the patients, nobody smiles, I told them about her blood pressure FOUR times before they did anything and by then i was so livid I told them its bad you don't monitor a stroke patients blood pressure at all. If you love your family member don't put them here unless you want something bad to happen!!!!!!!!!!!

Brandon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center seemed pretty nice. I liked the layout of it. The room seemed to be nice. The general layout and the parking lot stood out to me.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My father went into Brandon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and the two days that I was there, the staff was great, very responsive, and very caring. Physically, it looked very well kept and very homey. The residents looked cared for. It looked nice and really decent. The rooms were nice too. The staff was there immediately when he checked in, and they were very responsive with my questions.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My Grandmother lived at this facility for three weeks. Three weeks TOO LONG. After the first week, she began to tell me things that although sounded factual; I wanted to be certain of. I contacted the Attorney General's Office asking if it were legal to put a spy gam in her room. I was told that this was legal as long as it was not aimed facing the door. Grandma was in a private room. The camera I purchased resembled an alarm clock. There's no way that anyone would know its a camera without snooping around OR having a hidden device themselves. Within three days, I picked up enough on the camera to prove abuse/neglect. My Grandmother suffers from a femoral brake of her right leg. Caught on tape was an aide "slinging" her legs onto the bed, pulling her over on the bed BY HER NECK with one hand, giving her a SPONGE OFF on SHOWER day and washing her face with a washcloth that she had just used for her bottom. Grandma has a swallowing problem, but yet the aide would FILL her spoon and barely give her time to swallow. The call button was NOT within reach. There was NO ice or water left for her to have if she needed it. No matter WHAT time I visited, the same residents (at least six or seven) would be sitting along the wall in front of the nurses station; some awake propping themselves up; others hanging out of their wheelchairs. It was nothing for me to go by at 2am and find my Grandma lying in a soiled diaper. On video, there is one night where NO-ONE entered her room for almost SEVEN HOURS!! I was approached by the Administrator about four days after I placed the "clock.". He told me that "housekeeping was cleaning and came across what they believe is some type of camera device.". (right)....I admitted to having the camera in her room and the fact that I had asked the AG's Office. I was told that I needed to remove it instantly from the facility or remove my Grandmother. (Seems my camera made them a little nervous). I did remove the camera; only to keep peace until I found somewhere else for her to go. Fortunately though, three days later, my sweet Grandmother became very sick and I TOLD THEM I wanted her sent to the hospital. She was transferred and is still in the hospital with double pneumonia and congestive heart failure. I HAD Zto choose a rating star to move on. This is the ONLY resin I chose a one. Otherwise, I wouldn't have rated it at all.
