I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
FACT..there is no one on premises with nursing qualifications..meds are given by your average person off the street...narcotics were given to our mother without being charted...the caregiver tried to double dose our mother by giving meds at noon, then another caregiver came in at 1:30 to give same meds...luckily , mom had sense to say no....FACT...the floors are often unattended by staff after 4pm and weekends..only one caregiver on second floor, and they often leave the floor for other duties and one left the building to get Chinese for her supper...floor was unattended...with residents eating... for over 10 minutes...FACT..I asked 5 different workers what the fire drill procedure was...most said "I don't know"..Ass. Director said "Thought fire doors were probably closed"..one said.."I think we just close the doors and wait for fire dept"...FACT..cook had car trouble one morning so all residents were removed from dining room, taken back to their room and told to wait...our mother did not receive brk from the staff that morning.... for this, she paid $4000 a month....we had problems from second day and when we said we were taking mom out, Chronic Care would not approve need for care at another facility...It was approved by another doctor and we removed her...PLEASE don't assume anything at this facility..beds are only changed when you ask, not weekly...there is no nurse on duty...ever...you must ask to see nurse from another site....If personal buzzer works at all...often broke or dead batteries...care givers take 30 minutes to over an hour to answer your call...hard for an 80 yr old needing the bathroom....our mother was there less than 2 months, with daily problems...and we had to fight to get her medically removed because of Chronic Care....would never recommend this place other than a motel..certainly not a place where knowledgeable care was needed or given.

I am a friend or relative of resident
My older brother came to Traverse Victorian very ill. On his good days he enjoyed visiting with the other residents out in the fenced and locked garden area. It was so peaceful there with the walkway and flowers. Even on bad days he still enjoyed sitting out there. He didn't eat much but said the meals were very good. When he didn't feel like eating the chef would make him a special milkshake. The caregivers were very attentive to all his needs. The hospice nurses were wonderful to him and comforting to me. I would definitely recommend Traverse Victorian for any family who are struggling with how to care for their loved ones. It's a hard decision to make but the staff there are very compassionate and helpful.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
I found Traverse Victorian, but I am not happy with it. Insufficient help; my sister had had a stroke, and it was not recognized as a stroke. Eventually, where she had previously been, they were very aware of the dressings they change and her personality, and nobody could identify what happened or what was wrong. By that, I mean she became almost schizophrenic. All of that has passed now, and that’s the problem. When I took her to the facility, she is in right now, she had been in the hospital. She had a great deal of physiotherapy and was able to walk in with her walker into the facility and then to her room. But she is in bed all the time now. They don’t encourage her or go out for meals. It is easier I think just to bring the meal and put it down. Actually, I have been in the insurance business and still am, so I really know the difference, and these people have about five places; the last one that they uilt is like ticking old room motels and going in. My sister is in a very attractive room. It is not physical aspects necessarily except that one thing I kind of object to is that she never sees people or hears people. It was quiet, but you are living there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, nobody is coming in to your room unless to bring your medicine and then leave. There is very little communication, and I have watched her just go down. She is in bed practically full time except when she gets up to use the porta potti right next to her bed. They do not have enough help, the nurse at the most comes once a week, and I don’t know how many patients they have, but I know it has increased. There is just no way one day that she can’t get around and see people. The population gets larger and larger, and then when my sister went in to have a shot of sciatica, first of all they didn’t want her to go, and I said I had helped her previously and I really just took her into the very same doctor we had used before.
