Assisted Living Reviews for My Doctor's Inn

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
The staff at My Doctor's Inn goes the extra mile. My mother is in assisted living but now that her dementia has worsened, they spend extra time with her ensuring she eats and they assist her with video chats nearly daily so she can see and speak with family members. She enjoys the live music and singalongs. My Doctor's Inn is just outside of Detroit and they have done a fantastic job of keeping the Covid-19 infection rate extremely low. The only reason I don't give it five stars is that the food is so so. Not bad, just not as delicious as at some other long term care facilities.

Carefriends are great but need help. They put your loved one on the toilet and then leave to help someone else leaving your family member alone. Not safe. When their busy feeding residents at meal time one resident would get up and was seen peeing in another residents sink right at the door. Or peeing at the door where you come in. When you leave sometimes it takes a lot of time to find someone to let you out because their busy. On paper they show their well staffed but when are they at certain times. Please put your loved one in a place where money is not their main concern. If you leave incontinence supplies for a certain resident and management is there they say they will take care of it and then put it in a storage room to sell to any one else to make the company more money. We then went to the storage room with the help of a worker got it and put it in the room of the person we wanted it to go to. If your loved one passes away mid month they hurry and rent the room out and don’t return any money you paid for the entire month. Getting double the amount for that room for the rest of the month. Anything to make more money. I was even asked to watch the residents by a worker while the only one working at that time went out on the patio with one of the residents. I'm glad no one fell. It would have been on me.

The care friends were great but I was told they have no training with Dementia residents. After reading up on Dementia a lot of what they did in their memory care was done wrong. The only thing management was worried about was making money. Not extra safety for the residents. The nurses there did a good job ordering prescriptions but when the doctor would visit he would have a nurse from a homecare firm come in for a follow up not the nurses on staff. Think twice about putting your loved one here in the memory care side. Your loved one deserves it.

Their memory care is bad. They force food on your loved one when any article I have read says you don't do that to someone with dementia. After my Dad passed away I went to get his things and the tether alarm equipment that was purchased that they charged his account for was gone off his wheelchair. Probably to sell to another family as full cost. Look for a company that is more worried about your family member not money.

The carefriends are great but told me they don't get training for dementia residents. Management is only worried about making the company money. Not your loved ones. The nurses don't even know how many stages of dementia there are. When the doctor does something to the residents he has an outside nurse come in to follow up not the nurses working there. It is a business plain and simple. Please look for someplace that knows about real memory care. Your loved ones deserve it.

My Doctor's Inn's food is above average. The care is lacking in some areas, but the overall atmosphere is nice and pleasant, which is much better than what I had found in my friend's previous residence. They have studio apartments, which are smaller than most assisted living places. They also go up to 2-bedroom residences. The housekeeping could be a little better. Especially when it comes to carpet shampooing since I noticed there are very bad soiled areas.

My father is currently at The Doctor's Inn. This is a wonderful facility with great caregivers that really care about the people. He came from another assisted care facility that was not very good so it took him a while to adjust here and realize the people at The Dr's Inn really DO care and have his best interest at heart. Everyone at Dr's Inn are very friendly. He tells me he is "Happy" here. There are always daily activities scheduled and they do a great job scheduling these events.

My father is in My Doctor's Inn. They serve 3 meals. They have a visiting doctor that comes through to the community. They have events regularly. They also do trips outside every now and then. So far, so good. The staff members seem attentive. They seem to care. They also have a memory care unit.

It's a wonderful place for my husband's father. There's one caregiver for every five people, so they get a lot of attention. It's very friendly and very clean. We were most impressed with their caregiver-to-patient ratio. It's a very good place. They have lots of activities, like they go to the movies and to different functions during the holidays. They also go shopping and things like that; they take them to a lot of places.

We chose My Doctor’s Inn for my dad because of the level of service and the feeling of security. He was given a medical pendant; if pushed, his three caregivers would know where he was within 20 feet. The meals were all prepared fresh, and the chef there didn’t believe in using processed food. They have on-site doctors, a dentist, podiatrist, and therapist, and they have nurses on standby 24 hours. The facility has a warm feeling to it.

My mother is at My Doctor's Inn. She has been there five to six weeks now, and she is going to be there indefinitely. They have fantastic staff. It is a fantastic place. I highly recommend it.

Everyone was friendly, and they answered all our questions. What I liked about My Doctor's Inn was everything was included. It had a memory unit, and they separated them, so that when they were in the more final stage, they would be in a different area. The rooms were very nice. They had a kitchen, a bedroom, and a living room. The dining area looked nice. I really like that place.

I am a friend or relative of resident
My dad is a resident and we have found it to be an excellent place that can support him through the continuum of care that he will need as he ages. He says the food is great (except for the attempts at making pizza) and he likes the caregivers. It is clean and the team is responsive. Price is a better value than other comparable facilities that we looked at even though a little further from my house.

My sister and I felt My Doctor's Inn was our best choice for our parents that time. They live in the memory unit. My father was placed there as an emergency case. It's close to where my mom lives. We thought it would be easy for her, but it turned out she ended up going with him. We also knew other people who have family there. It seemed to be all in all expensive, but a good place; relatively new, just over a year. The place is full of light compared to other places I've seen. They have tiers of services, and it's a fair way to charge someone. Most of the caregivers seem caring and compassionate. They have nurses all the time. The management is accessible, too. When I ask something, they follow through with it more often than not. My mother loves the food, they say it's nutritional. Nutritional means there's a lot of food, and they can have what they want. If somebody has a blood pressure problem, they don't put salt in it. For my dad, they make sure they don't give him dairy products, or else everything is a mess. If I were doing it, I would want them to have fresh food. They have fruits, but it's more of a fruit cocktail. They have activities, but I don't think my parents participate much. They seem to be content there.

I visited this facility
My Doctor's Inn was referred to me by someone. It was similar to other facilities I visited. The difference would be the cost. Others were more expensive. Their rooms were very clean and very accommodating. It was a well-managed facility. However, it was located way out from me.
