Margaret's Meadows

I went to Margaret's Meadows. It was near our home, it was only five miles from my parent's home. It was not that great, the person I spoke to was professional and informative, but it was very depressing when you walked into the facility. They should improve on a lot of the finishes. It was an older facility and the maintenance and upkeep of it I wouldn't say were up to par. And so just the overall esthetics and look of the facility itself, there's a lack of brightness and cheeriness when you walk in, lack of decoration, the lack of a lot of things, and it was pretty depressing. The first thing I thought of -- the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest when I walked in there. The pricing of that facility was only $200 less per month than where my parents are at, and my parents are probably in the nicest facility in Mount Pleasant right now. It was more a country setting, and some individuals might like it there. The staff was professional, but the office that I met with him in, just wasn't very clean. And I would think that if you're going to be talking to potential family members of possible people that would move in there, you would want to have a very clean and orderly office location where you're going to sit down and talk over with somebody moving in there. That was a big negative for me. Another thing that was a negative was the fact that there was that one individual who was like the manager of the facility, and then there were only two health care workers on staff at all times in this pretty large facility with at least 25 to 30 people, so lack of staff.

I like Margaret's Meadows, and I might pick this place for my father if I need to. They have a large open area where people can watch TV. There were cards and puzzles out and things the residents could engage in. They make all the food fresh. It was good to know that they either have a blender available or something to make sure the food is soft, which was one of our concerns. I would rate them the highest; I was very impressed. I met with the owner and got introduced to some of the staff members. They were engaged during the meal time when I was there, and a lot of the staff was helping people sit down to eat. Everything was nice and clean, and the place looked warm.

Margaret's Meadows is a wonderful facility. The atmosphere is comfortable and homey. Staff are very pleasant and attentive. My mother was there for a couple of years and she was very well taken care of, at all times. I highly recommend this country home.

I was very impressed with the care my mother received when she was in this facility. The staff was very caring and cheerful. The manager Sue worked with me at all times to guarantee my mother the best care possible.
