The facility is absolutely gorgeous. It is very clean and well kept. The staff members are extremely friendly and attentive to all residents, family members and guests. The activities are abundant and fun for all including family members that are always welcome to join such as weekly chair volleyball.. My mom absolutely loves living there and has found many friends to spend her time with.

We have our uncle who lives in assisted living. Prior to moving to Magnolia he was bored everyday at his prior facility. He is a completely different person now since moving to Magnolia. He loves the bingo and card games that are offered weekly, participates in exercise, takes part in the variety of the discussion groups and tests his intelligence at the weekly trivia club. He is thriving and happy. Im glad my wife and I found Magnolia to be his permanent home.

Huge well constructed units with high ceiling-first class in every way. Love the views of Cass and Sylvan Lakes. Love the activities. Family owned. It is truly a 5-star resort

Magnolia is the place to be. Magnolia's staff makes it feel like a home away from home which is exactly what I was looking for. The care staff and administration are the most attentive and informative people. The amenities are absolutely beautiful and the meals are 5-star. I would recommend this place to everyone.

We found Magnolia by the Lakes for my mom. They were clean, and the staff were nice. They offered a lot of activities, and the residents were very interactive. There are a lot of things for the seniors to do, so all of that was taken into consideration. I didn't like the size of the apartment, so I wish it could be larger. But the layout was fine as far as the size of the room itself, and the dining room was nice and open. They showed me the area where the family could visit and that was very nice, so that helped add to the decision why we also chose that place. I like that area where a family could come there. I like the fact that the facility was off the water. It was near the lake area. I like the scenery. It looked well kept up, too.

We toured Magnolia by the Lakes. It was neat, clean, and very updated. However, my mom and l do not care for it so much. It was kind of dark inside, like dark halls, dark meeting places where they had bingo, and all that. It was not as friendly as some of the other places we have visited so far. We met one person who showed us around, so we didn't have any interaction with other people. They had an exercise room, and they had a resistance pool. They have meals included, but then their rates were extremely high compared to everyone else that we have seen so far.

Magnolia by the Lakes seemed like a perfectly good place. The apartment that I saw was very nice. It seemed very clean and relatively new. The staff who gave me the tour was very friendly and very personable. He was a very nice guy. He seemed to know what he was doing, and seemed familiar with this. They had a small pool. It looked like they had a little mini-golf course. They had a nice eating area and a nice lounge area where people could go to. They didn't take me into the kitchen itself, but I saw the dining area. They seemed to have a nice enough dining place where people eat. I didn't have the opportunity to actually try the food. The place seemed very clean.

Use extreme caution before placing a loved one in the Magnolia North Assisted Living unit. My mother died within 4 days of moving in (September 2021). We had continued problems with summoning assistance for my mother. Help was not to be found or slow to respond. She had multiple attempts to summon help in the hours before her passing, with no luck. Also, do yourself a favor and check there licensing with the State of Michigan. Dr. Bagne, the owner, will promise you everything to get a signed contract. When you have a problem you will never get past her assistants.

Provider Response

Magnolia North is an assisted living with residents or their POA choosing the type of care for the resident. If the loved one/POA decides not to obtain any personal care from on-site caregivers, Magnolia obviously does not provide any unless it is contracted. In order to save money, the Power of Attorney of this resident refused to sign up the resident for care from on-site Magnolia staff against the strong advice of the Nurse Supervisor and CNAs. Magnolia prides itself in being an advocate for seniors and the Staff try to protect them against the greed of those who place the seniors in danger by not recognizing the care needs of them.

I visited Magnolia by the Lakes, and I liked it very much. It just wasn't the right place for my husband. Everything was lovely, like the cleanliness, the staff, and the food. Everything was lovely. It was very beautiful. There were plenty of activities. The staff were very friendly. The facility was lovely. I was very impressed. It was clean. Everything about it was lovely; I could see myself living there.

We have selected Magnolia by the Lakes for my friend. The community overall had a very close-knit family type of environment. All the residents were extremely friendly. The place was clean. The amenities were top of the line. The floor plans were good, the upgrades were nice and the food was excellent. They have all sorts of activities, crafts, movie nights, church, and trips to the grocery store and the markets and the movies. They have a whole calendar of activities that are available daily. The staff was very knowledgeable and personable.

I went to Magnolia by the Lakes. It was nice, everything was upgraded, it's not a very old place. I like the walk-in shower they have and the walk-in closet. I like the washer and dryer in the room. And I asked somebody about the food, and they said it's excellent. And the lady that toured me, she sat down with me and she answered all my questions. She emphasized and had a lot of empathy for me. She was very kind and concerned and caring and very nice, so my experience there was 100 times better than the other place. The rooms are beautiful. They're pretty large. You can get to the bathroom, from the bedroom, the living room. It's the same bathroom, but you can get in from either way, at night, you don't have to go out to the living room to get to the bathroom. That was nice. The closet was huge. It's clean.

At Magnolia by the Lakes, I saw the assisted living rooms on one side of the road and I saw the senior living on the other side. They said that we could have a senior living apartment on the third floor, which was a two-bedroom and I would love to have stayed there. I would like to have gone there. I did not have any food but the person who was kind of a salesperson told me that they don't really spare anything on their food and that they have good meals that occasionally they might even have steak or something special. She was kind of bragging about the owner too. This person was a physician and I was told that she used to own hospice centers around the United States or something and sold them. She had this place because she felt the seniors deserved to live very nicely. I like the philosophy of what I heard about her. I did not meet her though. There was a room on the 3rd floor that we could have had in the senior living section. My husband could live there and they said they could give him assisted living and that I could live there too. It's a 2-bedroom place but it was going to be around $10000 rather than $5,000 or $7,500. It was very, very lovely. The carpeting maybe was a little bit older, but it still was lovely and clean. It's 2 bedrooms and the kitchen is better than the kitchen in our house that we've lived in for 50 years. The cabinets were first class, nice countertops, the carpeting was like a lighter gray shade, which was nice, and a nice-sized area for the full washer and dryer. It has nice walk-in closets for the two bedrooms, the bathrooms were big and it has a lot of shelves or drawers in the cabinets. I loved it, it just costs too much. The person who helped me or showed me around was very pleasant, down to earth, and seemed very kind. I don't know what the experience would be if you lived there so I would skip the rating though because she was just a salesperson. I toured the assisted living side too and I felt it was a little bit dark. There's a room there where you can watch movies, and it had the amenities but to me, it seemed a little dated. I can't remember if it was red and gold but it kind of looked more like a hotel. I had a heavier feeling in there rather than light and cheerful. They showed me one room, which if I signed up right then and there, would be like $5000 but it was a very, very small room and it needed some updating. It just would not have worked for my husband. I also saw a nursing station there and there were a couple of nurses or assistants. I didn't talk to them, but I saw them working and taking care of patients in their rooms. The rooms, just by glancing at them, seemed crowded and older. Maybe the patients had been there for a long time. If I were living there, I think we would be quite happy because there is a nice balcony with a sliding door, and when you're on the balcony, there is a strip of houses kind of below you and you have a lake view. You would probably see boaters in the summer too.

I am/was a resident of this facility

My mom is now in Magnolia by the Lakes. We chose this community because it doesn't look like a senior facility if you will. This was more like she thinks she's in a hotel in terms of the ambiance of it, and absolutely the cleanliness of it. The staff is outstanding, and that's another factor. They have on-staff nurses that were also great, as well as the care that they give to the people. Her room is very spacious, extremely clean, and very up-to-date with all the ADA stuff that's needed for an assisted living person. It has a view, it's not just a bedroom, but it's actually bigger than my son's dorm room in college. The food is outstanding.

My brother is currently at Magnolia by the Lakes, and we've chosen this place because of the staff. They're very caring and very concerned people. It's a very nice facility too. It seems like it's in a nice neighborhood. It's accessible and not being too far away from us. They have three different types of rooms, and everything is very adequate. The dining area is very nice, and everybody gets along very well.

My parents have chosen Magnolia by the Lakes. They give you so much more for the price, and the apartments are very upscale. They have the latest wood floors, 10-foot ceilings, and beautiful kitchen cabinets (like Amish). They have ceramic tile for both bathrooms. It is much larger in space too. The unit we got is like 1,350 square feet. They have three meals a day. They cleaned the apartment once-a-week on a weekly basis. They have all these incredible activities. They even have a pontoon on Cass Lake for the people who live there, if they want to go for a ride on the boat. They have shuttle busses. The community itself is just gorgeous.

Our tour at Magnolia by the Lakes was great, it went very well. It's pretty impressive and it was a nice tour. It was fabulous and the tour guide was extraordinary. She took us through, showed us everything, and was kind of in tune with what we wanted. She showed us what we wanted to see. It looked relaxing. It has somewhere where you can go, an open space, and the dining area is centered around all the big rooms. It was somewhere I could go and sit back and relax, be comfortable and safe, and look out at the lake and see the beautiful scenery. It would give me peace of mind to just be in the home where I live, and relax without even going anywhere. We went to other places where when you walk outside the door, it's like being in a hotel. But when you are outside your door, it doesn't give you that presence of a hotel, it gives you beautification. When I got there, it went over and above my expectations. And the people are very friendly. The owner of the place gave us a lot of information. It would be a place that we could spend our lifetime in. The residents were also very friendly and nice, they're welcoming and inviting, and they seemed happy. I like the kitchen counter, it reminds me of my own kitchen. It's an open-space kitchen that's really up to date, and I did not expect the kitchen for seniors to be up to date like that, including the cabinets. You could enjoy it; the ceilings were high, the room colors were beautiful and I like the room color. There's a balcony. They have meals, breakfast, transportation, and they have trips for where you want to go. It's very convenient. We were invited to dinner, and we felt it's genuine. They have an excellent staff. It was very clean. I kept asking "Had anyone lived in these particular units that we looked at?'' It was so spotless.

Provider Response

Thank you very much, we are very proud of our beautiful Magnolia by the Lakes. We strive to provide the best environment for our Residents.

I had a very good tour of Magnolia by the Lakes. Everybody was very nice. We had a meal, and the food was good. The rooms all looked very nice, and their kitchens were nice. I like the fact that the bedroom went right to the bathroom, and you can get to it from two different directions. That was a selling point. They had laundry right in the room. It's a one-bedroom-one bath. They have two-bedroom-two-bath apartments and one-bedroom-one-bath apartments with a den. They had different styles of rooms. My mom is by herself. She is almost ninety-one and she doesn't really need a lot of room, so I'm mainly looking for a place where she could get her meals, and they were accommodating with that. They have bingo, movies, and TED Talks. They even have pontoon rides because they're close to a lake. You can sign up to go to Kroger's or the Dollar Store. They have a really nice courtyard, and my mom’s room looks out onto it. It has a little nine-hole putt-putt course on it. At ninety-one, she is not going to be doing a whole lot of things because her eyes are getting bad, but they have a little craft room and a little sweet bar that they open up maybe once a week, and you can get bread, sweets, or something like that. My mom is moving to independent living right now. She'll need assistance going down to get her meals and things. Somebody will have to come, get her, and take her down in a wheelchair because it's too far for her to use her walker. She doesn't have the strength anymore, but they have a care team in there that handles that. I like the fact that they have a nurse on staff 24/7. For a slight fee, they put a landline in your room with big buttons. If she wants to call me, she just has to push "one," and if she wants to call the nurse, she just pushes their number. Since she can't see the numbers on phones anymore, it will connect her to people more easily, so I like that feature. They seem accommodating. Everybody seems very friendly. All the ladies smiled and said hello when you walked down the hall. Nobody looked grumpy.

We've already signed the papers for Magnolia by the Lakes. We're looking to move my dad in August. We went through independent living looking for a place that had assistance available. In that place, you can add on whatever you need to the independent living (which my father fits at this time). He's still independent, and he will have his own apartment. The facility is really nice (as far as the apartments), and the way that the hallways are furnished. The people that you deal with are extremely personable. The location is nice; it's right next to a lake. They have a pontoon boat, which they take the residents in on outings. The cost was not over and above what could be expected. They provide all your meals, and they have lots of entertainment available. My father liked it, and that's the most important thing. The apartment that he would be staying in was a nicer size than the other ones that were available. The ability that he would get meals every day was a nice thing because he doesn't want to make his own meals. They provide everything as far as laundry, cleaning, and picking up trash; everything's included. The bottom line is it's a really nice place, and he was really happy with it. It was definitely better for him than other places that we looked at. They have games available, a monthly party that they set up for the residents, swimming, crafts, and exercise available on a regular basis with an individual to take care of all that. They have a miniature golf course in the middle of the open space. They have a lot of different activities, and it's all written out so that they can choose what they want to do. It's independent, and it allows the person to do a lot of different things. They have special trips to the grocery store and other areas, like museums and stuff like that. All they have to do is sign up. They take you to doctor's appointments and other appointments if you want within about a mile. If I was 20 years older, I'd like the place for sure. They gave us some samples of the food while we were discussing the arrangements, and it was definitely good.

I toured the Independent Senior Community of Magnolia by the Lakes and I couldn't believe my eyes- the picturesque setting, the high ceilings, the gracious apartments and the gorgeous views- all starting about $3,000. My parents live in Florida and it is so nice that Magnolia has an enclosed bridge connecting several buildings. My parents are coming to visit Magnolia. This place is worth a visit. I wish I were old enough to live there! Nice job. highly recommend.

Magnolia by the Lakes is a very high-end facility. It had beautiful rooms and great structure, but it was very expensive based on their cost model. I went into their independent living facility, which was a six-floor building structure. I got a tour through one of their single bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. It was a very nice facility with very beautiful rooms. It looked like they had a really elegant dining area. I saw the exercise facility, and I was given a list of the activities they published for the month. I didn't have issues with the staff.

Magnolia by the Lakes has a section that’s open and a section still under construction. It was a nice place. The only problem was that it was too expensive. The rooms were all efficiency apartment-style. There were no grounds, and the dining area looked very nice.

Magnolia by the Lakes was very good. They were very caring people. The facility was great. It was a little on the small side, but it was clean. They were in the process of expanding. The price was a little on the high side, but it definitely would have been a place I would have considered. However, the facility was a long distance away from me, which was an issue. I recall that there were good activities; they would go out and do activities within the facility.

Magnolia by the Lakes was very nice. It was a brand-new, small place but way too expensive. They were building more units of permanent apartments for seniors across the street from the facility. So, it was very nice. They had a Jacuzzi pool, computer room, television room, and exercise room. The rooms were beautiful. When we first walked in, there were flowers on the table and it was very pretty. There were only 20 residents. I was a little disappointed that you had to bring your own bed and a stand for your own TV. They said they could possibly bring something in for your clothes to hang. I did not care for that. I thought for the money that you were paying, you would have a nice hospital bed, but they did not have anything supplied. I was not too thrilled with the rooms, and the view was of bushes. The two-bedroom we saw didn't even have a view. For me, I like to look outside and see something.

Magnolia by the Lakes is a smaller facility, but it is very clean and very well managed. Jason was there when we went for a tour, and he was very thorough and very professional. It's a brand-new building that opened only eight months ago. They have a beautiful dining room, exercise room, and a theater room. The staff is all very friendly, helpful, and taking good care of my dad.
