My grandmother started staying at Suncrest as an emergency respite client. She had fallen and the hospital released her, but she was not ready to go back home. She stayed at Suncrest for almost four weeks. The facility was clean, it did not smell like urine, and the staff was friendly. I liked that my grandma had a private suite with one other lady. They had their own bedrooms, dining area, television-watching space, and private sitting chairs near the window where they could watch the Huron River. The chair my grandmother used for TV watching was electronic so it was easy for her to be more self-reliant when getting up and down. She also wore a personalized pendant for contacting the staff when she needed anything. The best part of her staying there was when she pushed the button, someone came to help her within a few minutes. I wish she would have decided to stay at Suncrest. The owner was very responsive to our questions and everyone was so nice! The only drawback I noticed is the lack of organized activities for the residents. I would highly recommend this location.

This house is in a sort of quiet area, but across the street is a trailer that always had kid toys and garbage laying around. The food in here was all processed. I get that many of the residents have sensitive food tastes, but I expected better than to see instant potatoes and instant soups served all the time. On numerous occasions, staff members argued because some were not punctual. I really sympathize with the staffing issues, but the residents need extra care because they almost all have dementia and reduced mental capacity. I did not get the impression this group home could adequately care for the people living there. If you have no other option, I understand. But you are probably better looking elsewhere. They also didn’t follow Covid guidelines and frequently allowed visitors without any care of telling visitors to wear masks or asking if they had been tested recently.

My husband moved into Suncrest Adult Care Home. They were very caring and nice people. They took good care of him. It was just an old house, but all the workers were very kind. I had a little bit of food once in a while. Everybody was at different stages of dementia, so some people could eat a whole meal and some people couldn't. What I had was good. I didn't see many of their activities because the residents aren't able to participate in them really. They had some books, but I don't think anybody would be capable of reading them. They had a couple of TV areas and sometimes people would congregate to watch TV together. It was kind of a family atmosphere.

I visited this facility

Suncrest Adult Care Home was very nice. There were ladies and gentlemen having lunch and the guys were watching sports on TV. If they had a vacancy, I was willing to move there. We were there during lunchtime and the food smelled wonderful. They have a nice sunroom and a nice deck.

Suncrest was like family to our family. My grandfather stayed at Suncrest until the end. He received exception, loving care. The staff treated him, as well as my family with love, patience and kindess. We could NOT have asked for a better fit for my grandfather at the end of his life. The home was clean, happy and always smelled like a home-cooked meal! There were plenty of things to occupy and stimuate their minds...puzzles, games, tv, books, or watch chickens in the backyard! I would highly recommend Suncrest..it just feels like a home.

My dad was at Suncrest for 10 months and my family and I couldn't be more happy. The house is clean and has a home feel to it. Almost all the meals except for an occasional pizza at residents request, are cooked fresh. Often my dad and the others were asked for input on what they wanted for meals. Laundry is done everyday. The staff was always so friendly to my family and I as well as my dad. My dad loved sitting out back on the deck to watch the chickens in the yard. Families don't have to call before coming out to visit. One day while visiting my dad, another resident asked for red lip stick and the owner went out and bought it for her! I was super impressed by that. I was updated often on his status and they knew when to get hospice involved with his care. These girls are great and I couldn't be happier with the care they gave my dad. Highly recommend.

The two owners put on a great act to begin with, then look out! !They promote a country atmosphere even live chickens. They promise you fresh eggs, home cooked meals which consist of process, frozen meals, They in my opinion, are way under staffed. If you question anything, then you become an out cast. I would caution anyone to do their research before putting your love one in this group home. They are from from loving with their patients.

My father lived here for the last year-ish of his life. I'm surprised by some of the bad reviews that this place has received. I was very pleased with the care that he received while he lived there. My father suffered from diabetes and very advanced multiple sclerosis, so he needed assistance bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, etc. Everytime I went to visit my father, he was clean and dressed and in good spirits. My father was a tough man to please, and when he wasn't pleased with the care that he was receiving, he would let me know, but he never had any complaints about any of the aids here at Suncrest (he did have complaints about the care that he received at some of the other facilities that he lived in). They even did the bulk of the legwork to get him on hospice care, and took the lead on coordinating his care with hospice. Anyone who is caring for an ill parent know how much of a pain care coordination can be, so I was particularly appreciative of this. The only 'problem' I ever had with this facility was when he first arrived. I moved him from one facility to another, and the last facility he was at had stopped giving him his insulin regularly (for some reason). When I moved him to Suncrest, they just continued his same regimine, which included NOT giving him regular insulin. It's not necessarily their responsibility to second-guess the inbound care plan that they're given from another facility, and as soon as I realized what was happening and asked him to go back on the insulin, they did so without giving me any grief. I just mention this because if you do choose to move your loved one here, you will want to review the medication list and care plan to make sure that everything looks correct to you, because they may not identify any oddities in that plan.

Happy daughter.

My mother was at Suncrest for 9 months. The care was amazing. The staff and owners cared for her and the other residents as if they were their own family members. In my mothers time there, I've seen them buy clothes for people, invite families to have dinner, allow pets to visit, and let me stay with my mom around the clock until she passed away on hospice. The house is always clean and is geared for families. Suncrest was a God send. Recommend highly.

We selected this place for my Dad after several visits and felt comfortable with our choice. We made a big mistake. He arrived the first day right from the hospital and was confused (he suffers with dementia/Parkinson's ). The owner greeted him and made him dinner and we appreciated that. The next morning I went to visit and requested to the other owner that he be showered and shaved. She told me it was no problem and that they would take care of it as soon as the aid arrived. One of my siblings arrived later that day and he was never dressed, showered or shaved. His bed was a mess and he was more confused then ever. The day after that my brother stopped by and our Father told him he fell out of bed and had to sleep on the floor. My brother questioned the aid that day and she stated the owner and her husband had to drive from South Lyon. That is quite a distance from Highland. That was unacceptable. He also had feces on his sheets and my brother asked what it was and the aid said she didn't know. We moved him out within one hour. I called the owner with my sister and she told us to move forward or move him out.

My family decided to place my 82 year old father at this facility after visiting the site. My father has lewy body dementia and uses a walker with assistance. He is often confused as to his location. We were promised showers two times per week and a loving and clean home for him to spend his final portion of his life in. I removed my dad on day three of his stay for the following reasons.... 1. He wasn't showered by third day even after co-owner promised he would be showered on day 2 2. He fell out of bed and had to lay on floor until owner arrived to do a lift and assist in the middle of the night, even though fire department offers that service for free with a quick response time. 3. He was always a docker style pant and button down shirt wearer all his life and we were promised he would be dressed as he preferred. We found him at 12:30pm with pajama pants, button down shirt on only half buttoned and untucked. 4. He mentioned to me that they would not allow him to get out of his lift chair. They forced him to sit in the chair all morning. I confronted the owner about all the above issues and was told that these were our problems because we asked to bring him a day earlier than planned for move in ( which they agreed to). She said that they were experiencing flu going thru facility and that's why these issues happened. I found feces on his bed sheet packing up his belongings and she said she had no idea what that was. " she claimed she just arrived at work and didn't know what it was". The owners of this facility tell you that this place cares for elderly but really they have no idea how to take care of individuals that need help. They have nothing but excuses and say "either move past this or move him out". I moved him out!!!!!

My wife is in Suncrest Adult Care Home. Somebody told me about it, it is run by two registered nurses who own the place, and I went out there and looked at the home. It looked adequate and I had to get her out where she was, so that is why I took her there. It is clean, quiet, and that is what she needs. She is in a private room right now and it is fine.
