I was admitted for therapy on Feb 23. That night I was not given any pain meds, while the nurse literally watched my agony. The therapy team was great. Housekeeping lacks the "cleaning" part. Room was filthy, paint peeling off the walls. The bathroom too disgusting to use. Nurses and aids are rude when you ask for something. On my second day I was yelled at by an aid for bothering her. After a 20 minute wait, I had to hobble to the nurse station, to see 5 just talking . No checking on people for 4-5 hours thru the night. Please do not come to this place or send loved ones. This place should not exist. I literally would not send my dog to this facility.

Upon arrival the bed I was supposed to be placed in had not been changed from the previous patient. Could not get pain medicine when needed, sometimes 2-4 hours after I requested it. Other medications brought all together in one cup and they never explained what I was taking. It could take an hour or more after I pushed my call button to get a response. I could speak up and advocate for myself, I can't imagine what happens to the patients in their that cannot. Ninety five percent of my belongings were stolen. I would never recommend this facility to anyone.

Our mother was a resident at another skilled nursing home, and after contracting covid 19, she was transferred to Frankenmuth, as they are a hub for the state to house covid patients. She arrived in Frankenmuth in September and stayed 17 days while she recovered, then returned to her nursing home. I must say, we saw her cognitive ability decline over that time, along with a 12 pound loss of weight. Along with the receptionist being very rude and unprofessional, answering the phone with HOLD ON!, and being put on hold or the call dropped. We were told after 9 days that she tested negative for the virus. We called our mother's nursing home to see if they would accept her back with the test results, and they said yes. We asked the Frankenmuth social worker if she could set up the transportation back, and she was not helpful at all. She said they didn't provide transportation, so we asked for info to see if we could set it up, and she had no info to provide us. We decided to drive across the state and get her ourselves rather than wait any longer to get her. On the morning we were on our way to get her, we got a call back from Frankenmuth, saying a mistake was made and she was POSITIVE! We had to turn around and figure out what was our next step. Days later, she was to take another test. When we called to make sure she was getting tested, she was omitted from the list by mistake. When she was put on the list, we inquired about a rapid test, to hopefully get a quicker answer and get her back, and was told by the social worker how expensive they were. We said we would pay it if she could check it out. She found out it was free! Finally, we were able to get her back. It definitely took a toll on our mother both cognitively and physically. The virus may have contributed to her decline, but Medi- Lodge Frankenmuth certainly didn't provide the care we were hoping she would get. They do have a tough job to do, but we expected better.

DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY. My father who is Covid Positive on Hospice was shipped to this facility in August 2020. My dad was still of sound my and coherent but would not go on a ventilator so Hospice was involved. The facility said he would have to be isolated for 14 days. We understood. They put him in the basement in a 8 x8 foot cement room on a slat bed that was 6" inches to short for his body and he is only 5' 11" he put up such a fuss and yelled for them to get him out of there that he signed off of hospice so he could be sent back to the hospital. He said it was a dungeon. Please if you love your family this is not where they should be.

When my uncle had to go to a skilled nursing facility, I put him to Medilodge of Frankenmuth. It just changed hands in July, and it used to be Tender Care. The rooms are not as nice as the other place he was in. You have to provide the TV, but they have Dish, and it is provided in the cost. When he was first admitted in there, I had power of attorney, but they declared my uncle competent to make his own decisions. My uncle was put there because he needed skilled nursing care to include antibiotics, bladder screening, and straight cath, but they weren't doing any of that. Even with my guardianship, they still were not going to do anything, so I contacted the case manager at Covenant Hospital and told them what was going on. Overnight, they got a bladder scanner, and the staff then became a lot friendlier and concerned about my concerns. Now, they're bladder scanning him every six hours, and they're checking him every two hours. Before, they weren't, and it seems like he is now being able to empty his bladder on his own. I call everyday at 3:00, and they update me as to how his appetite is, whether he is emptying his bladder, or whether he is being cooperative. They're just very helpful. They have a calendar of events. They have memory games that they play with the residents, and they have bingo. One thing I do like about this facility compared to the other two that he had been in is that they will make arrangements for transportation. He is in a wheelchair, so they have contracted with certain companies to come and pick him up for his appointments and take him. This place is very good about having somebody come and pick him up with a wheelchair lift, and they even took him to a VA appointment. I'm really pleased with it. He is in a double room, but there's nobody in there with him. He shares a bathroom with the room next to him. They should just treat family members with compassion whether or not they have guardianship. They shouldn't be rude to them.
