This community has been barely skating past state inspections. Residents don’t get the care that they need or even the medications they are supposed to get. The staffing is horrible.

My mom has found the place called Vista Springs. She has moved into assisted living with some services. She doesn't need much. It's outstanding. There was a personal relationship with my mom and the director because my dad had spent his last days there. The financial arrangements were easy to make, and the building is suitable. She's not happy to be there, but she's not going to be happy anywhere besides home.

Vista Springs Timber Ridge takes on a leading edge approach to elder care. It is designed to create an environment of matchless comfort, dignity, and most importantly, independence. The set up allows elders to be part of an intergenerational, loving community. It is person-centered care at its absolute best. The Executive Director, Jillian, and her Rediscovery caregivers, Allison and Shana, are specialists in their fields for whom elder care is a calling- not just a job. Vista Springs Timber Ridge has given us peace of mind that my family member is in a safe and nurturing environment!

The facilities are clean, comfortable, and inviting. The staff is friendly, caring, and professional; they provide excellent care. The food is the best of any facility my father has resided in.

The staff are wonderful and the facility feels like a large home; residents can (and should) go down the hall from their rooms to enjoy the library, living room, dining room or deck. The staff members have delightful personalities and engage my father in meaningful conversation. Finally, the facility is small enough to have a home feel, is bright and cheerful with many large windows, and the food (according to my father) is very good.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm in Vista Springs Timber Ridge at the moment. The food is better than the other two places I've been. They have different rules that I don't care fo,r but we're getting them changed because I don't need assisted living. The reason I was in assisted living was because my wife needed it. We could afford this one so we put a downpayment here and then she died. So, I'm here and I don't need assisted living but my son thinks I do. They're good people. I have a room. I don't like any of the apartments in any of the assisted living because I love to cook but none of them have cooking areas. They have activities, but they're for old people, and I don't fit because I'm ambulatory. I have my own refrigerator. They have a companion room type thing, which is bigger, but when my wife died after we had signed up, they moved me to a single room. They do a good job with the food, and they let me help cook. They told me they had a new system for exercise that I probably would enjoy. They try to accommodate me a little bit.

I visited this facility

Timber Ridge Senior Assisted Living Facility was a privately owned facility. We liked the staff. We did have a concern that because the owner is the single-most critical person to the operation who made the decisions about things based on her style, so if she weren't there or if she left for whatever reason, the entire operation could be very different. It was more remote, beautiful, very nice, and had a different kind of layout and setup.

I think the people working at Timber Ridge are good, but they are all worn-out. The cushions are all worn out. You have a butt imprint on all of the dining room chairs, they are very uncomfortable, and they have rollers on, which I am surprised for the elderly because my mom isn't in assisted living, and I don't get a roller chair for her because they slide out from them. There is not much for them to do besides sit in their rooms. They have a Book Club, Bingo, and a few other things, but not very much, so she just stays in her room. My mother-in-law has dementia really bad, and Bingo is just too loud and confusing. The area where they watch TV is very loud, not exactly conducive for other people to join in. I'd rather have her in her own place. She has a room, and it is adequate. She has one sitting chair, and then a desk chair, which is very uncomfortable because that seat is worn too. When we go and visit her, she has the one nice chair, and we sit on the uncomfortable chair and the bed.

Timber Ridge is a lovely facility. There are 20 residents per unit. When we walked in, it just felt very much like home. My mom is staying in a beautiful room with a big window and nice built-in cabinets. There is also a bathroom in the room. The staff are very caring and personable. They also have a nice array of activities, always celebrating all the special holidays, lots of musicians coming over for the residents. There are a lot of interactions amongst the residents.

Timber Ridge is set in a lovely wooded setting with a fenced outside area to prevent residents from wandering away yet be able to outside in the open. The inside is cheerful, comfortably decorated and accessible in that it is built all on one level. The different wings of the facility are small giving it a more family feel--no long hallways or endless lists of rooms. Timber ridge is much more personalized. The staff were always warm, helpful and clearly engaged with the residents. They knew residents' likes and dislikes and greeted family members who visited by name. The staff to resident ratio is pretty low so residents seem to get a lot of care. I believe it is more expensive than some other facilities but the personal attention is higher than I've seen other places. The rooms were quite spacious and home like rather than institutional, maybe a bit dark, but nice. The common areas are nice places to relax and visit. It is inviting and residents obviously feel comfortable being out of their rooms.

The whole staff is very friendly and seems well trained when i went and visited, but my relative who stays there has Rheumatoid arthritis and is now wheel chair bound. She needs help to do everything, even raise herself out of be. The care provided here is adequate for someone with lesser needs. I have witnessed other residence watching TV int the lobby the whole time i was visiting my relative and they seemed relatively happy and content. I stayed for a dinner one time and the chef made some sort of pasta which was really good, a lot better than other places. The facility is rather new, built within the past 3 years and it still has that new building look to it. Everything is very clean and have an on staff nurse everyday there not just assistants. So that is a plus for this place, and they have activities almost everyday to give the residents something to do, and they have a barber shop inside the same building so there is no need for excessive trips to get groomed.

I think Timber Ridge in East Lansing, Michigan is an excellent choice for placement for someone who is looking for placement. They provide their residents with several qualities of high level care to fit each individual plans of care as needed. That is tailor fitted and assessed by their trained and skilled team of Nurses. The common areas are very homey and comfortable and they serve a varied menu for their residents to enjoy. Family and friends can also stay for lunch or dinner with their family and friends. Timber Ridge is very beautifully landscaped, well maintained and structured and very satisfying to the eye. There residents are treated with the utmost dignity and respect from their team of health care professionals. They also encourage their residents to use their maximum levels of independence to keep them physically and mentally healthy. The surrounding neighborhood is also very well maintained and structured and has a serenity setting surrounding the facility as well. While there, I noticed that the residents were very sociable with one another and the facility does not smell. The management and staff are very professional and treat the residents like family and their staff are also very team and task oriented in their job duties and their performances. They offer their residents high quality levels of care there and their residents like it there and they also enjoy one another there also. I would recommend Timber Ridge to any and everyone ages 55 and above because I know that they would like it there and I know that they would do very well there also. In general, I would have to rank this facility on a fives stars rating for their excellence in providing their residents with several high quality levels of care to fit their individual life styles as needed.
