My sister is in American House. I liked them. The only problem we run into is she goes down to get food. That is not so great because that is an additional expense for her, but she likes her little place. She likes all the people there. It is very homey. From the day she moved in, people went to her door and gave her little pies and cakes. They welcome her. That part is great. They have little villas. It like it is a very nice community. It is really nice, and the atmosphere is fantastic. The only issue she has is with the situation of the food. She pays $7 for breakfast, and she gets one little pancake and two slices of bacon, and when she asks for more food, they do not have anymore. However, from everything that I know about it and from everything I see, I already tell my sister who will take over my care that she can put me there, and I'm happy. I'm fine, and that's where I will go. For me, one pancake and two pieces of bacon is excellent. I love all their activities and their people.

Excellent, caring staff. All through my family's experience we were very happy with the way our father was treated. All additional costs and suggested services were fully explained and tailored to fit his changing needs. I would highly recommend this facility.

When I went to visit American House Dearborn Heights, it was nice. My mom seems to like everything. Food is good. The staff seems pretty good other than the medical staff. They don’t seem to quite have it together. They have all different kinds of activities. They have crafts, bingo, and cards.

American House Dearborn Heights was very nice and very clean. The management was excellent, but the apartment was too small. Everything about the place was perfect except for the room.

The first place we looked at was American House Dearborn Heights, and it's what we chose for my mom. The layout is wonderful, and the apartments are wonderful. The dining room area is lovely and well lit, front and back.

I visited this facility
I like the apartments at American House Dearborn Heights and if distance hadn’t been a factor, I probably would have gone there. Part of it was the fact that the distance away from my family was not good travel time for both of my children. I like the facility but it just wasn’t going to work out for me. I like the location as far as where it was situated on the grounds and the other thing is the meal situation there was not as good.

I liked American House Dearborn Heights the most, but it didn't have a memory care unit. It was clean and really nice, and I liked the people and the way it was set up. The staff were really nice and very knowledgeable. The rooms were nice and a little larger than I expected. I also liked their dining areas with one that was restaurant-style and one that was set up a little differently. They just didn't have a memory care.

I visited this facility
I visited American House Dearborn Heights for my parents. I thought it was a nice community. It was set up a little bit different than where my parents are at now. They did have meals available. It is a smaller campus, and so it offers better availability for services. The only thing is they did not have availability. Nevertheless, the community was very friendly. They were open to showing you the facility. They were helpful in answering any questions that you ask. It had a very good atmosphere. At the time that I went, they did have a person that was doing activities. The residents were very cheerful. Also the place was very clean. I like the atmosphere. However, like I said, they didn't have the availability at that time.

The staff at American House was fine. I didn’t have any problems with it, but it was not what I was looking for. I like their programs, but I didn’t like the fact they didn’t have handicapped accessible rooms to choose from. Their dining room was fine though.

The staff at American House was very nice and knowledgeable as far as my husband’s diabetes. They knew what type of food to bring. Everything was nice, clean, and orderly. The apartments weren’t as large in size; there wasn’t enough space, and there is one bathroom, but it is fine.

American House did not have any openings. It was pretty nice. The apartments were large and clean. The studio apartment was very large for a studio, so you have a choice between it and a one-bedroom apartment. The staff was helpful, friendly, and very professional. They had church services.

I visited this facility
American House is very nice, and they have lots to offer. It is the location that we are looking at because my children are living further south. I have nothing bad to say about them. They have field trips to the casino and to special events like opera or plays. They answered everything we have questions for.

Mom has finally decided to go into American House, so that's where she is now. It's a wonderful place, and it's larger than where she was. She has a buddy there now. They have a lot of activities. They have scheduled meals in a large dining room and so many more things than she was getting before. They come in weekly for cleaning.

American House was immaculate. I loved their Villas. I loved the facilities and the apartments that they had to offer. I liked their locations and the feel of the place. Their staff was truly excellent. I really adored them. They were really warm and very receptive. I would recommend them to others.

My father-in-law has been in American House for about a month and a half now. The food is good. The people take care of him and he is happy to be there. The facility is very nice. It felt like a hotel when I walked in there for the first time. It's been good so far.

I visited my grandmother who has lived there for 1 year. She says that she enjoys it but says it can get lonely sometimes. I try to to visit her as much as I can. There are many activities to do there, individual and group. She says the food there is okay but decent. The staff is friendly and transportation is available if needed. She likes relaxing in the garden with a book or watching television. There is security when one enters the building. Room service and guest meals are available. They have private bathroom and climate control systems. 24 emergency services are available. Some even have a small kitchenette.I believe my grandmother was looking to move to new facility, somewhere closer to where most of her family lives. She is looking at places in Florida and California. She says the place is nice but does not enjoy the Michigan winters.

I am/was a resident of this facility
My 1-bedroom apartment at American House Dearborn Heights is okay and the community is okay. I did a discrepancy write-up but they haven't come in to even start to finish the punch-list. My yard is a wreck, I'm the only one around here with a yard that looks like it hasn't been cleaned up in decades. The grass is all dried up and the sprinkler isn't working, and there's also a tree out here whose branches have been dry for many moons. But nobody has attempted to come out and maintain it. I was told that there are white benches out there but there aren't, I would have wanted to sit outside and enjoy the cool breeze. Other than that, my apartment is okay and enough for me to maintain. The living atmosphere is quiet and I like it. You have to pay for the meals, but I cook my own since we're in the independent living villas. They have activities in the main building but we can't go in there, only the people who live there can go in there. I was never asked to go in there and join any activity, they're mostly for people who needs higher care level. We also have a community area down here. They had a little musical concert a couple of days ago, I sat down and listened and introduced myself, and enjoyed other people's company. Everything is okay with the community except for the spiritual forces that are here. This place dates back to the King Arthur days, but now everything looks new.

American House looked great. It was also clean. Everything was perfect. The staff was very friendly. No problem there. The rooms were also clean. However, it was the cost that makes my mother not able to go there.

I visited this facility
The staff at American House Dearborn were very congenial when I went there. They have a main building and villas and it's very nice. I am pretty interested in the facility and I am waiting for a two-bedroom apartment. I was able to see the rooms and I like it because it was roomy. I felt comfortable with their staff, but the only thing I'm not crazy about this facility is because when you in the villa you have to pay extra for the food and it would be quite expensive if you add it to the amount of the rent.
