The people at Waltonwood at Cherry Hill were very nice and the chef came out and talked to my mom because she is on a gluten-free diet. She went there twice. She went once with me, and then she went back again with my brother. She put $300 down there, but she had put in on a one-bedroom and now she decided the one-bedroom is too small. She's got to the end of the month or she can switch to another unit if one comes up, but there are seven on the waiting list for a two-bedroom. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The building is like 22 years old, but it had been renovated. It looked a little worn and it needed some maintenance, like the front door entrance and stuff like that. It looked like it was all scratched up, probably from walkers. We saw the library and the movie room with a slanted floor, so everybody could see. They had a courtyard. We saw lots of people out there having lemonade or punch or whatever they had out there, and it had a good turnout. It was good. I just think the room that we saw wasn't as good as the others. It didn't have laundry and dishwashers in the units. That was kind of lacking. The facility was very good and clean. You could tell they had redone some areas. They just need a little bit more on the front door, but it was very acceptable.

WALTONWOOD at Cherry Hill IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE After helping care for both my father and my mother during their final days and then coming down myself with an auto-immune disease, it became necessary to sell the family home and transition into a more secure living environment, where I would have access to care yet remain largely independent. After touring several dated facilities with older style décor, worn furnishings and unfavorable conditions, my outlook for independent living became bleak and discouraging. And then it happened! As I turned off Lilley Road into the parking lot of Waltonwood at Cherry Hill, there appeared a most handsome and architecturally splendid building, situated on well-maintained and gorgeously landscaped grounds. This outward beauty served to make me want to take a look inside. The friendly and knowledgeable staff greeted me in the lobby, offering a guided tour of the facilities and grounds. The inside “ginger bread” décor, with vaulted ceilings, crown moldings, and generous amounts of wainscoting and chair railing was just breathtaking and all the furniture, carpet, and painting was perfectly coordinated, clean and well-maintained -- unlike anything toured in the surrounding area. The air was fresh with all new, modern furniture and perfectly coordinated within the buildings. All the apartments had sliding glass doors for adequate natural light and fresh air ventilation, each having a patio or balcony. During the tour, I breathed a little prayer to the Lord, expressing my desire to live here if possible. However, after moving in, the facilities, grounds and charms were just the beginning. The heart and soul of Waltonwood lies not in the physical space alone rather in the staff who plans, organizes and facilitates the multitudes of excursions, activities, services, sporting events, professional arena shows and on-site entertainment of every variety for residents to enjoy. The food preparation and quality here are unparalleled and planned by our on-site professional chief with particular attentions to quality of taste and nutrition. The activities director coordinates multiple activities available for most every hour of the day. Most importantly on a personal level, I feel safe, secure and well cared for living here. I recommend Waltonwood most enthusiastically to anyone needing a little help while aging.

I went to Waltonwood at Cherry Hill to visit a friend. It's very nice. I noticed a lot of interaction between the staff and residents. They seemed very caring and very responsive to the residents' needs. The place was tastefully decorated and very clean. The grounds were beautiful. They offer entertainment and transportation. They hold family dinners every other month where a resident can have family come in and have dinner with them in a private setting.

My father has been at Waltonwood Memory Care for nearly a year and I feel very comfortable with the care he has received there. The staff is friendly and engaged with the residents. Even during the shutdown of the pandemic there were many different fun activities. The memory care team will go above and beyond for their residents.

Waltonwood Cherry Hill was nice. They offer a lot of things, but it was expensive. You get your apartment and everything, but you've got to pay for the assistance to help them out. If you want somebody to give your loved one their medication, you've got to pay for it, but the room was very nice and clean, and the people were very friendly. They had church services, movie nights, and card games. The grounds were well-landscaped. The lady who toured me around was nice. The design and layout of the place were also nice.

I am a relative of a current relative. They let an outside therapist in for almost 2 hours with COVID symptoms. She tested positive the next day and now COVID is circulating throughout the place. It's shameful that, at this time, they are not more careful about who they let in. Imagine the anxiety of my relative and all of the residents! We were having doubts before this happened. Most of the staff hangs out around the central desk chatting instead of checking in with patients. When my relative gets upset about something their first answer is always medication. I'm sure that's easier for the staff but how about just talking to the person and finding out what is wrong? We are not happy with what we've seen there. I guess that's why they make you sign a year-long lease. It's harder to get away when you find out how substandard the care is. I highly recommend that you avoid this place for the sake of your loved ones. There are many places to choose from in the Canton Michigan area. You and your loved one do not have to settle for this place. When you are shopping around make sure you ask a lot of questions about how they protect the residents from outsiders potentially bringing the COVID virus into the community.
