Assisted Living Reviews for Care Community

June 30, 2014

By Carol70543350

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Care Community is an older establishment, but the staff is absolutely wonderful. They do more home-type cooking compared to other places I have looked at. I can't say enough about the staff. My aunt has a private room; it is a pretty good sized room, and then she shares the bathroom. They deal with walk-able people right up to where they have a nursing home on other floors. You stay there right up until you pass on. I don't think it is publicized as that, but from what I understand the prices are a lot less than many of the really nice ones, which I know she would not be comfortable in because of her personality. She never had any children; they had a very quiet life with their church and staff, so I know she will be overwhelmed in a very busy place where people come and go and have their own cars. But it is more of a nursing home status. They help her to the bathroom because she is in a wheelchair. They help her dress and take showers. If she can't go down to the dining room or if she is not feeling well, they will bring her dinner. There is a lot more one-to-one with the staff. I go on different days; I don't have a schedule. They allow 24/7 visiting; you can go anytime during the day and night. You just have to call ahead because they do have a lot to do after ten, but if you want to come, if you are there, they will let you in. They have movies, they play bingo, they have outings, they have people come in and sing, they'll fill Christmas parties for kids, they had their own Halloween party for kids, and they allow pets. I think it is a little more money if you have a pet, but they do allow pets. That is nice for the residents, to be able to take their pets. Actually, they have their own gorgeous bird cage and a sitting room where they can watch the birds. I am very happy with the place.
