Our experience with University Living is good. Their food and the staff are very good and accommodating. The place is modern and clean. I'm satisfied, though the feel of the place is of an institution.

I visited this facility

University Living was very nice, they were very accommodating, very helpful. The sample unit was nice, and there were a few residents who had their doors open. The eating room was very nice and high quality. They have a room that you can rent out if you want to have a party for a loved one. Everything that I saw was a five out of five. It was very classy and very clean.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was a resident at University Living for the last month of her life. She was treated with respect and kindness from everyone we met. Tanum, the community relations director, is wonderful. During my initial tour, she took time to answer all my questions and was warm and friendly during her interactions with all the other residents. She and Chef Thomas even picked my mother up from her apartment and drove her to her new studio at University Living. During her last month, my mother was very limited in her movement, and spent her entire day either in bed or in the armchair. The dining room was very accommodating and delivered all her meals to her room. The women who run the activities are excellent, and even though my mother was unable to participate in the activities, they would bring her ice cream and check in with her regularly. Although UL is not a nursing home, there is a nursing director on staff and a full time nurse scheduled on the premise at all times. My mother's medications were delivered to her on time by qualified staff. One of the nurses, Nick, took time to sit with my mother on a couple occasions when she had a nightmare. My mother relied on the aides for assistance in going to the bathroom and getting ready for bed every evening. Her attendants were very kind and patient. My mother relied on her hospice team to help bathe her, but the attendants are also able to assist in this regard as well. I was present every day and was grateful for the cheerfulness of the floor supervisor and the medical technicians who helped make my mother comfortable during the last month of her life.

University Living was very nice. It was a little farther out, but I thought it was a lovely place. The rooms did not have a full kitchen which was perfect, but they would provide her with a refrigerator and sink. They had storage areas and nice bathroom for the people to go around. The staff was very profession. They were very nice to us. They sat down, talked about everything, and gave us materials. They were very pleasant.

I visited this facility

University Living was OK, but I didn’t see any people walking around, and that turned me off a little bit. It’s a very nice, very friendly place, and I met the chef. The room would have been nice. However, the place was not convenient, I didn’t care for it being on the third floor, and the main thing was it was close to the expressway.

I visited this facility

I liked that University Living was very clean, had activities going on, and the people I saw seemed happy and involved in activities. I liked that it went from assisted living through memory care. I was concerned for my dad because he has memory issues, so that’s one of the things I was looking for. It seemed like the care was very good there, and the residents seemed very happy. There were activities to help with memory because they specialized in memory care. The people there were very helpful, answered any questions I had, and if they didn’t have an answer, they got back to me right away after they’ve found an answer.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My relative is in University Living for about three months. I like the caring community. I think it is well rounded and efficiently run, and their group is young. I will recommend it to others. They have quite a bit of activities. They have outdoor swimming, and they take them outside by bus.

I guess the bottom line is that they have had a lot of activities that we felt my aunt would get involved and be active. She says right now, she's complaining that it's not how it was in the beginning. But I think a lot of that is because she doesn't want to be there, and she wants to be at home. I tried the food at least once when we initially moved her in. The food looks pretty good.

I am a friend or relative of resident

About four years ago I started looking for a place for my mom. The facility fit her very nicely. It had a more modern look for her and everyone was very nice. The activities, food and staff was a good fit. If I had any questions they were addressed promptly. What I liked the most is I could come and go whenever I wanted. This was her home with no "visiting" times. As time went by I felt like part of a larger family. Another difference was having college students who came in to volunteer with the residents and all the outside musical groups that would perform for all. It was a very good choice for our family. I would highly recommend University Living.
