I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The rooms are large and kept up, I have found the staff caring and available. My sister sometimes has anxiety and the staff handles it very well. There are plenty of activities and most seem to enjoy the time spent on the interaction. The facility is overall very clean and when I visit there is always a lot of activity. Overall I am very happy that we found Blue Hills. The staff is very knowledgeable in handling Dementia Care. I also, have been present at mealtime and the food is good and my sister likes it. I find that it is a lot easier to deal with this knowing that she is safe and cared for.

Staff was okay. Nursing Coordinator, Jillian was phenomenal!! Rooms were clean but HOT ( like 88 degrees) and definitely needed some freshening up as paint was peeling etc. My one star is due to the lack of communication with corporate office. Beware if you are owed any type of refund- here it is 3 months later and we are still waiting for over $10,000 and no one from corporate can be reached. They even sent us written notification promising refund with a noted date and nothing! Alot of the staff that we worked with have recently resigned....which makes you wonder! If it wasn't for Jillian I would be giving ZERO stars.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband is a resident of Blue Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center. The administrator is great. The nurses are very good. Overall, I've been very happy with them. My husband's a Vietnam veteran and they're very good with him. I think the food is very good for the patients. The nursing staff is very good. The aides are good; I know there's a shortage of aides, probably pretty much everywhere. But they're hard workers and they do the best they can. The administrator in that facility is fantastic, Michael, he is very good. He is very hands-on, and he makes sure the patients are good. He makes sure that I'm happy with everything they're doing. He's just excellent. The social worker there is fantastic. They just all listen. They're good to the patients, and they're good to me. They keep me informed, which I like too. It's an older building, their hallways are a little narrow, but the facility is good, they keep it clean. They have a nurse on staff 24 hours a day. I think they are the only dementia-certified facility either in the area or something like that.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My wife was a resident at Blue Hills and she had Alzheimer's. The staff were very nice from the first day she went there and always treated me nice too. I would often see the Director of Nursing out and talking to the other patients and my wife she knew well too. Sometimes my wife was difficult about taking a shower but the staff went back to her and sure enough, would get her to cooperate and finish her shower. I used to visit my wife every day and even weekends and was surprised to see the Administrator there a few times. The staff seemed to appreciate his presence and he spoke to everyone using their names. I guess what I would say is that Blue Hills became my wife's and I second home and I was happy to be part of the family.

I can not say it is a pretty place but Dad was at a pretty place that didn't work out we moved him to Blue Hills and they were wonderful. As soon as he arrived PT was working with him .They took him off of horrible sedating drugs and let him be a 88 year old man with dementia. Blue Hills allowed us to spend the last few months of my Dads life with him and not a overly medicated shell of a man. He was allowed to pass with dignity and pain free i am forever grateful for the care and kindness .

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Mom has been living in the Blue Hills Alzheimer's unit for a little over one month. They do anything that’s got to do with cognitive function and brain injuries, too. It’s only 20 minutes away from my apartment; I can visit her more often than I could before. If she wants to have breakfast in her room in the morning, she can do that. They get her out of bed every day whether she finds a chair, falls asleep, and takes catnaps. I’ve gone in and played activities with her and with other residents. The two things that I was promised were safety and 24-hour care, and she’s getting both. It’s a locked-out facility so you need a code to get in and out. They have an outdoor area that they can go out and sit in the garden in the summer weather. They are accommodating the family themselves, too. I’m having Thanksgiving dinner with her, and it doesn’t cost me anything. There were a couple of things that she needed to have done, they did them, and they were fixed within 24 hours, so it was very good for me.
