My mom has moved into The Gables of Fitchburg. I like it, the staff there are very nice. They do keep her studio clean. They're very receptive to questions and inquiries about anything from my sister and me. I don't have any complaints. They have a huge library and Pittsburgh Library swaps out the books every week. They have a movie room. They have a giant room where people can gather. They have different activities, different people from the outside coming in to do music. They do have crafts, but my mother is not interested in that. However, there's an abundance of things that she has access to. Their staff were nice people. The food is very good. It's much better than the last place she was at. The facility is nice and very clean. The value for the money is very good, compared to what we were paying before, it's significantly less. I have no complaints. The only thing I can think of is if the staff drop by more often and just check in and say hello. I know they're busy, and my mother just likes to chat once in a while with the staff. If they had people in there who could stop by and just chat and sit for a while, that would be nice.

My aunt is a resident at Gables and has been for the past 3 months. I find The Gables to be very clean, staff is extremely fridendly and helpful. The Gables serve 3 very well rounded meals per day and my aunt has indicated several times "the food is good". She also enjoys the all the entertainment and nightly movies. At times when I was visiting and found I need to call maintenance for one reason or another, the staff and maintenance responded immediatly. My aunt is very happy with her unit. Gables indicated that we could hang pictures and basically whatever we needed to do to make my aunt feel at home. I would recommend The Gables in a heart beat.

I visited a friend in The Gables of Fitchburg. It was very nice and clean. They had a lot of activities for the clients. As this person needed more help, they always came up with excuses that they couldn't check on her medications, or offer her pain medications and things, so that part of it was not good. She wasn't bad enough to move to a nursing home, she still could care for herself, but needed a little more help from the nursing staff. The layout was very nice. The activities and such were on the first floor. It was wide open and roomy, and that was very nice. Then the rooms themselves went up to three floors. They can improve on the responsiveness of the staff, and I know that's the problem everywhere you go. This woman, she was in pain, but she never thought to ask for medication; her daughter talked to the nursing staff many times and asked if they could offer it to her. They always said, "Well, this isn't a nursing home. We can't be running after her to make sure she's okay." So that was a little disconcerting. I know they had people come in and give concerts. They had card game type of things, and I think they even had a bus. They would take them out to lunch and things like that.

The Gables of Fitchburg was very nice. The only issue there was that they just had assisted living. We would definitely consider them, but my parents wanted a separate cottage place, more independent living, and they didn't have an independent living component. We have a senior friend that we communicate with every week. We've been in the apartments and they're really nice. The gentleman that lives there that we visited seems to like it very much. We sing for them, and they're very nice. If I was a senior living, I would live there. The staff members were good, very friendly, and accommodating.

My mother-in-law moved to The Gables of Fitchburg, and it was really easy, quick, and worked out really well. It's like a five-star hotel, so it's really nice. The staff is warm and friendly. They include all services and the upfront cost is the cost of everything. The dining area is beautiful and very nice. They have game rooms, activities, trips and outings, laundry facilities, and pretty much everything that's needed. It's very expensive though, but you get what you pay for at top quality.

My 84 year old father is a very proud man who has always valued his independence. The Gables of Fitchburg has allowed my father to keep his independence while giving our family peace of mind because he is never completely alone. He has a nice size, well kept apartment at "The Gables" that includes a living room, kitchen, bedroom, handicapped bathroom, and patio. One of the things my dad has always enjoyed about his own home is his collection of oil paintings. At the Gables, he was allowed to hang his paintings; giving his apartment that personal touch. I can not say enough concerning the staff at "The Gables". From day one, they have made my dad feel like a part of their family. When ever my dad needs assistance, all he has to do is press his life alert button, and a staff member is there with in minutes. The staff also goes out of their way to get to know the interests of each resident and make them feel special. My father is a Yankee's fan and one of the staff members gave him a Yankee's baseball cap. Prior to my dad becoming a resident, our family always worried about my dad being alone and just sitting in front of the television until one of us could visit him. The Gables offers daily activities to keep my dad active; including bingo, musical events, and day trips. The cost of "The Gables" includes three meals a day. I have had the opportunity to have meals with my dad in the dining room and have found that the meals to be very tasty with nice sized portions. In short, I highly recommend "The Gables" for anyone that is looking for a quality assisted living residence for their loved one. I am confident that my dad is in a safe place and is receiving excellent care.
