I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My grandma has been here for a little over a year now and we are so pleased with East Village Place! The staff are top-notch and so great with all of the residents. Every time I visit her she tells me about how happy she is here and how much she loves the staff and of course the food. Thank you so much to East Village Place for all you do for not just my grandma, but every resident!!

Provider Response

My mom stayed for short terms after hospital visits. She was well taken care of and enjoyed the food and company. I think she was a little bit sad to leave and go back to here apartment.

My mom is staying at East Village Place. It's excellent, and she's been given good care. The staff members have been attentive and helpful. For the most part, they've been very good. They have things like art projects, musical entertainment, and exercise classes. It's very expensive.

Provider Response

Thank you for sharing your experience, I'm glad you are happy with the care your mother is receiving and that you are finding the associates helpful. I also appreciate your feedback regarding rates. Please call me anytime to discuss other options that can make our community more attainable and within budget. Patti Castelli

I am/was a resident of this facility

Let's start with the pros at East Village. The exercise programs are great. The trips and excursions are also great. The staff is very friendly and courteous. I've always felt safe and the staff is very proactive with security and monitoring incoming guests. Now, the cons. The food is terrible. I don't know who was running the kitchen when these other residents posted reviews but it is anything but four star. At times the meals are inedible. There is not a lot of support staff in the dining room and residents are grouped together at tables despite the illnesses going around. I'm baffled. There's not a lot of assistance on the assisted living side. I understand staffing issues but it doesn't correlate with the money we pay. The same goes for the food being served. There is an expectation of quality meals when paying $5000 a month for a one bedroom efficiency. It makes you wonder if it wasn't more cost effective to stay at home and pay someone to come in and cook meals and look after you. Many of the residents complain about the food and services provided but stop short of complaining to staff. I believe with an overhaul of the menu and better hiring practices in the kitchen, this facility would be much improved.

Provider Response

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We take pride in high rates of resident and family satisfaction and I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you to learn the details of your experience. I apologize that you did not have a positive experience in our dining room and with every associate of our community and look forward to speaking with you so that I can address and resolve your concerns. -Patti Castelli, Executive Director

I visited this facility

I liked East Village Place very much and the lady that took us around was nice. The rooms were just too small because it would be for two people. It's a cozy place and it's well kept. They had an exercise room and a library. Everything was good.

Provider Response

Thank you for your kind words and high remarks. We are committed to creating an extraordinary place for our residents, guests and associates and I am glad it shows. Sincerely, Pam Skiba, Executive Director

I visited this facility

I would probably go with East Village Place if my mother need assisted living down the road. It seemed a lot more cheerful and uplifting. Some people had their doors open and they said hi to us. Their food seemed good too. East Village Place is a smaller place, but they have a small place where if you have company you can use that. I did ask about religion, and they showed me they do have diversity. The staff members were very friendly and helpful. The tenants came up to me too. They were very friendly, and they started talking and raving about the place. They sounded very happy there.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We placed my mom at East Village Place. It's a very good place and they understand the whole concept for care of elderly people. They have two levels so we wouldn't have to move my mom if she needed more care. They have exercise programs and memory care activities. They have a courtyard with a garden and lovely plants, places for people to sit in warm weather, a patio, and a grill. My mom has a nice view from her room. The staff is very courteous, warm, and always willing to help. My mother said they call her by her first name and that it feels very personal, warm, and inviting. The food is delicious and you can tell they put a lot into the meals they prepare. They have all kinds of dietary meal plans so people have variety.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are committed to resident and family member satisfaction and I’m so glad you are satisfied with the experience. I’ll read your review to the team and acknowledge them for their dedication and thank them for a job well done. Please stay in close contact and let us know what we can do to ensure your mom continues to thrive here at East Village Place. Sincerely, Pam Skiba, Executive Director

I am a friend or relative of resident

I have placed a family member at EVP and it is outstanding we have been residents for about a year and a half not and the care and compassion is outstanding you could not ask for a better place. I have had my family member at other places and there is no comparison, The aide we have is just the best she goes above and beyond each day, if you placed someone here you would feel the same about your aide even if it was a different aide then my mother has. The food is outstanding holiday dinners are better than a 4 star restaurant. The aides take the time to encourage the residents to eat and if they don't eat they get them something else to eat. I am so thankful I found EVP to place my family member it gives me such a secure feeling and I cannot thank EVP enough for their care and compassion. I know the difference I had my family member at another place and saw the lack of care which give me another reason to be so thankful for EVP.

I visited this facility

The residents that I talked to at East Village Place were all wonderful and very friendly. The only problem we had with this community was that the room was too small. We went into a room that was not furnished, and the bathroom was a little bit smaller than the one at the other facility. We wanted a bigger bathroom for my mom. They did seem to have great staff there. There were some people doing crafts. East Village Place was our second choice.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for your feedback and for including us in your search. I couldn’t agree more about the welcoming atmosphere and experienced, friendly team of associates that make our community so special. I hope you find the place that is ideal for you and your family and that 2016 brings health and joy. Sincerely, Pam Skiba, Executive Director

I visited this facility

East Village is strictly assisted living, and I didn’t really need assisted living at this time. It was nice, but it is really out of my price range. They allow pets, have a nice location, and is more upscale. The staff was very good and capable. We talked to one of the therapists, and we saw the physical therapy room. I wasn’t that impressed, but it is nice.

I visited this facility

This facility was extremely lovely on the inside and out. The staff was very friendly to my group and helped us with our belongings and all set up requirements, and the occupants were enthusiastic and excited for our performance and were very complimentary post-performance. Everyone who lived there seemed genuinely happy to be there, which I feel is hard to find in assisted living facilities. We ate lunch with the occupants and the food was surprisingly very good, which made us feel even more welcome there. It was very clean and we were treated with the utmost respect and kindness. I have not one negative comment to make about this assisted living facility.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We Transfered My grandmother to this facility when we moved to Springfield a few years ago. My grandmother was incapable of taking care of herself at the time do to her severe altimeters and her arthritis. The facility provided my grandmother with her own nice private room with its own bathroom. The nursing home had number of exercise programs and other activities to help keep the residents in good shape but my grandmother never got a chance to participate. due to her illnesses. The home even has small houses to rent if your loved on is really independent but still might need assistance in an emergency or just some extra help at the house. The only problem we had was that an orderly was caught neglecting our grandmother, so we moved her to a new facility but they did fire the orderly so we don't hold it against the nursing home.
