Nursing Home Reviews for Belmont Manor Nursing Home, In

I am a friend or relative of resident

Do even consider placing a loved one in Belmont Manor with out hiring a private nurses aide to be with your loved one. The staff at Belmont Manor is unprofessional and uncaring. There is a very high turnover of staff because the good staff ends up leaving because they are overworked and given too many residents to take care of. I should know because My mother was a resident at Belmont Manor for several years. Many times I would find that she had not been changed and she had not been fed and she had been left sitting in her wheel chair for over 9+hours at at time. My mother got very sick and dehydrated because the nursing home staff did not give her enough water or food. They would leave a food tray in front of her and walk away. The staff did not communicate with the family that she had not eaten for days. She lost 25 pounds in 3 month due to lack of care.

Employees there were not treated nicely by their higher ups as I (more than ) once observed. "M" insulting person employed there bringing them to tears. I only observed this as waiting in hallway, then I said to myself what can you expect from unhappy employees when they are treated as such? I felt bad for the poor thing. Owner is nice, not sure if aware.

Don't judge a book by its cover, and don't be fooled by the clean and shiny exterior of this home. On the outside, Belmont Manor looks clean and polished. But the lackluster care of the staff makes it a horrible disappointment and a potential dangerous situation for its residents. Staff take 15 to 30 minutes to answer a call button, if they come AT ALL. Most of the time, it takes a family member to drag a staff member out of the hallway to get some assistance. They even take 5 to 10 minutes to respond to a fall alarm--that's an alarm that tells the staff that a resident with a FALL RISK is up and out of their seat or bed! When my father-in-law was ill and needed to go to the hospital, the charge nurse sat on her rear in the nursing station eating potato chips rather than checking on his health or well being. She claimed, as she was munching on her chips, that she was 'waiting for a call from the doctor.' Ridiculous. She also sent the WRONG CHART with him when he was transported via ambulance, which caused a huge and dangerous situation in assessing his needs and health at the E.R. I would NEVER put a loved one in this place. It may be all clean and shiny, but the staff is, at best, overworked and unsympathetic and, at worst, uncaring and bordering on dangerous and incompetent.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My grandmother spent about five years at the Belmont Manor while she lived out the rest of her life when caring for her became to much for our family. The staff at the facility was great, from nurses to nutrition and counselling for not only my grandmother but for my family. Everything she needed was available in this facility , there was a hair salon, always activites and bus trips , a dentist ,church and many other things that made the stay there enjoyable. Although gram didn't remember many of the trips or activities seeing the pictures of her having fun and hearing the nurses tell us stories made us feel so much better about her not being at home. In the Alzheimer unit they had there own dining area and special care to keep them safe, they also had a function hall that you could use to celebrate birthday and other events. The staff made everything the best they could even through her last days, even after her death the staff kept in touch and many came to her services.

I visited this facility

This facility is not in the best section of Belmont, which is a fairly wealthy town. But even though the facility is not as attractive as many others in the area, the quality of care is very good. The staff does a good job trying to meet residents' needs. And the floors are matched to the residents' care needs. The people I was visiting had problems after a stroke or heart attack"”and the staff seemed knowledgeable about taking care of them. The nurses seem particularly helpful; there is never a long wait after they are called for help. Many of the rooms have two or three residents, so there is a lack of privacy and more the feeling of a hospital than a home. The food is a little above average, but not great. Because of the convenient locale, this facility may be best for Belmont residents or those who have relatives nearby. There is no long wait for admission, which is often a necessity for many people. But a drawback is that management is often pushy to get more residents in there who might not necessarily be a good fit; it feels as if they are most concerned about making money.
