I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My brother moved into Brinton Woods Health & Rehabilitation Center at Winfield. They offer rehabilitation, they have a dining area, they show movies, and play bingo. They can't go out right now due to COVID. Everything is going well, and he's stabilized.

The staff is excellent and they truly care about their residents. I have been visiting for two years and can find nothing wrong.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband was there for about a month. Everyone was so pleasant, the place was spotless, and the staff was very caring. I have to say compared to Levindale in Baltimore this nursing facility gets a 5 star. You can never expect to go into a nursing facility with elderly parents and not be critical, but my husband is just 60 and I was there once a day and witnessed the caring staff help him with showers, interact with occupational therapy, physical therapy, nurtritional needs, etc.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My Grandfather has been a patient at Brinton Woods twice this year. His most recent visit was due to him getting surgery on his throat. The first time he was in Brinton Woods it seemed like a very outstanding and wonderful Rehabilitation Center, but I unfortunately I cannot say the same for his most recent visit there. I would like to start off by telling you how I myself work in a Assisted Living Community, so I know how things are ran and supposed to be handled and how to properly treat residents and family members and I can't say that all the staff at Brinton Woods followed these guidelines when I know for a fact that they have the same ones because it is part of the Maryland State Law. My Grandfather was telling me a story the last time i had visited him about how one of the staff members came into his room and asked him what he was doing, he said talking on the phone, she proceed to snatch the phone out of his hands and told him that he wasn't talking on the phone and held the phone up to her ear to listen to see if anyone was there (which there was, he was talking to his brother) and then handed him the phone back and says "oh, I thought you were talking to yourself". IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM IS THIS OKAY!!! Regardless if he was talking to himself or not it shouldn't have matter and doesn't give her a right to talk so degrading towards him. A few days later he said she came back and apologized, i'm not sure if that was on her own free will or if someone caught wind of the situation, but that is not okay whatsoever. Another thing about the staff members at Brinton Woods is they have been known to drop things onto the floor and then pick them up and still use them, my father while visiting his father in the facility saw this happen first hand himself. If you have a loved one or know someone who has a loved one who needs to go into a Rehabilitation Center I HIGHLY recommend not taking them to Brinton Woods and here's the main reason why: My grandfather had been in Brinton Woods for quite some time to recover from his surgery on his throat and on Thursday September 15th my father, his sister and their mother were supposed to have a meeting with the staff about him being released, well that morning my Aunt had stopped in to visit with my grandfather. He had spiked a fever and they recommended him to go to the hospital but he didn't want to go but then it went down and seemed to be doing okay but then he had started choking to death and went into cardiac arrest and my Aunt who was still there visiting with him was SCREAMING for help and for someone to call 911 and the staff had NO sense of urgency WHATSOEVER! they didn't even try to resuscitate him while he's choking to death and he was not a DNR patient. They finally took him to the Carroll Hospital where there they tried to resuscitate him, but it was too late and we had lost him. There's no reason why the staff didn't run to my grandfather's need while my aunt is screaming for help and there is no absolute reason why they did not try to resuscitate him either especially since he was not a DNR. After all of this malpractice, Brinton Woods later called my aunt after my grandfather passed away in THEIR care to "follow up" and see how my grandfather was doing, Needless to say, DO NOT take your loved ones to this facility. Their staff is clearly not properly trained nor do they care about their profession and taking care of people in need. Coming from someone who works in the same field, it takes a strong and caring person to do these kinds of jobs and the people at Brinton Woods unfortunately are not those kind of people and are well under qualified.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My relative was at Brinton Woods first for rehab after being in the hospital for she had a fall. They were wonderful for that and the rooms were very nice. She only had to leave there because her insurance run out, and they were too expensive for me to keep her in there. They were very caring, and I thought they were very nice I like them. They worked with her, did the rehab, and I thought they were very good.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother was a patient at this facility for a few weeks before transfering to a better place. She complained constantly about the poor treatment she received. I even heard from her roommate that the attendendants hollered at her for soiling herself. She was in for a broken hip rehab after surgery. I would not reccommend this facility to anyone who cares about their loved ones.
