I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom had to come here for rehab for an injury for 20 days. If it had not been for family members coming in daily , they would have left her there to perish. She has not been bathed in 20 days. She is there for physical therapy, but has not recieved it for 4 of the the 17 days. I have to call every morning to make sure they dress her and get her out of bed. NO ONE takes her to the bathroom so she just has to go on herself. They don't answer the nurse button. It take an hour or longer for someone to respond. Her roomate fell and couldn't reach her button and she yelled for help, and no one came. My 86 year old dad who just had leg surgery had to go find someone to help her. The nurse in the hallway is the rudest individual. The cna's sit in the hallway talking and on their phones and ignore the patients. I have to tell them my mom hasn't had bowel movements for 4-5 days and to give her something. She got covid while in there and they have given her NO MEDICINE and just shut her and her roommate in the room. When I went at dinnertime, their lunch trays were still sitting from 11 am and had not been picked up. This place was rated 5 stars. It's a joke. Thank GOD we were able to be with her, but the poor ones in there with no one, heaven help them. The food is less than to be desired. Dessert one night was whip cream in a cup. I would rather take a leave from my job, than to EVER put my mom or dad in this place ever again.

A friend of mine was at Heritage Manor of Mandeville. It's an older facility, but they give you very good care. The medical staff were very professional, like the nurse and the pharmacist. When my friend was there, she had to have prescriptions and certain things while she was rehabbing with her hip, and they were right on top of it. I like that part of it. All the people that work there were very cordial and friendly, as were the people in the facilities. The food was average, but it wasn't anything exceptional. They had bingo, they did some crafts, and they did some music. There were always activities she said.

We moved my mom to Heritage Manor of Mandeville 3 weeks ago. We chose it because it's a small facility. The staff is great. They are right there all the time. They have bingo games, puzzles, and crafts. They have a courtyard. The parking lot is kind of small. But other than that, everything's great.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband moved into Heritage Manor of Mandeville last month. So far, I think it's been pretty good for him. He's doing speech therapy and physical therapy. He's made some progress; they have him standing now, which is better than being in bed all day. I was concerned about some of the medications he was on because he was sleeping a good deal when he got there. I asked them if we could taper off on some of the medicines to see if that would help him with his therapy and make him more alert. They've done that, and it seems to be working. It's very clean, and I've not had a problem. The food looks good, but he's on a puree diet. They do have activities. They did an Easter parade and made Easter bonnets, they had bingo, and they had an ice-cream-sundae party. The activities are good.

Mom's been in Heritage Manor for rehab and short-term care for about a month now. From what I've seen through the window of her room, it seems clean, and she seems to be getting excellent care. The staff has been very kind and very professional. They update once a week, but we can visit outside the window whenever we want. They had some group therapy, some group activities, and a hairdresser, but they're not doing any of that right now. Everything is individual rooms now because of Covid, and they have seating in the front. She's only been there for three weeks, and we've not been able to visit the facility at all because of Covid.

Do NOT put your relative here. The CNAs are lazy, lazy, lazy. They do not keep water in pitchers in rooms. My husband was always dehydrated, as were other residents. They told me that they only have to OFFER a resident water, and if they refuse, they can't make them. Well, all they had to do was put water in a straw in his mouth, and he would have drunk it down. He did it all the time with me. The tables in the dining room were always sticky and dirty. The CNAs were on their cell phones all the time. I was there all the time, and the aides should have been walking the halls to check on patients, but they were not. Too busy clicking and clacking away. I reported it to administration. It stopped for awhile but continued. One day the state came to visit. One CNA said, "They're not going to take away MY phone!" This place is a dump. They try to put lipstick on a pig, but it never looks or smells better. Right after my husband passed away, the nurse came in and announced, "He gone!!" Needless to say, I'm still ticked about that incident. Don't put your loved one here. In fact, don't put them in any nursing homes on the Northshore or anywhere else. They're all rotten. However, the social worker was amazing!

My husband was placed at Heritage Manor of Mandeville. I was very pleased with this nursing home. The people were very accommodating. They took very good care of him. I have nothing but positive feedback to say about them. The rooms were nice and roomy. They have lots of closet space and really nice bathroom facilities. They have a very nice big dining area. They also have a small garden area where they can take patients out. I would have to say that the admissions director was the most helpful person in the whole situation in both times my husband was there. She was very helpful and went out of her way to do everything that we needed. She was just wonderful.

Hertitage Manor was used for a family member as a skilled nursing faciliy and I feel my family member was not properly taken care of. He got an infection because staff would not listen to the family about putting resident in the whirlpool bath tub. So therefore, he ended up back in the hospital with another surgery which was unnessary if staff had only listened to the family. Also aids are lazy and sit in hallways on there phones and don't tend to the residents.

I chose Heritage because it is more of a skilled care facility. I felt like she was at that stage where she needed more help. A lot of the assisted living homes close their doors at night. It is kind of hard for somebody in a wheelchair to open and close doors, so we are worried about her being in her room not being able to get the help she needed if the call button didn't work. I just felt that it was more appropriate. The staff seems to go in there. Sometimes they are just busy because they have a lot of people to deal with, and I can understand that. But she is not complaining too much about them. One of her complaints is that they don't give her enough to drink at night. I can understand about not wanting to get up in the middle of the night to take all these people to the bathroom. The cleanliness is better. When I first walked in there, there was like an odor that you get in older homes that has carpeting. One thing I would do -- and I don't know how much they can control this -- would be to take the carpet out and put tiles down to make things cleaning easier. I did like the grounds. The grounds over there are nice. They have like two ponds over there and a walkway with a little bridge and fish and stuff like that in there. If you wanted, you can take them for a walk and get them away from the area without having to take them to your car which is next to impossible to do if someone is in a wheelchair. They could probably use more staffing at night though. The parking is hard there too. If you are a person that has to go to a busy hour, it might affect you a little differently.

We were very happy with the care that Heritage Manor of Mandeville provided for my mom. We felt particularly good about the physical and occupational therapy program. They were really, really strong and I felt that she really progressed well under their physical and occupational therapy program. Nursing was fine. The aides were kind of weak, but that's okay. She complained about her food because when she receives it in her room it's cold, but when she goes to their dining room it was pretty good.

I visited this facility

Heritage Manor of Mandeville is just a few minutes away from our home. The care is excellent and the facility is very clean. People are so nice. They treat everyone with care & respect. With regards to the food I think my Mom likes it because she gained her weight that's why I'm really happy. Although, she is still in an adjusting period. But nevertheless Heritage Manor is one of the best nursing homes in Louisiana.

My great grandmother went to stay at Heritage Manor around nine to ten years ago. She lived there for almost 8 years before she passed away. Over the 8 years that she was there the staff sty basically the same with little turn over that I could see of. My great grandmother had basically the same group of nurses working with her in the end that she did when she began. Over the time there I would vist her often and from my many trips to Heritage Manor I learned a few things. The staff that is there are friendly and kind. Over ther eight year that she spent there we never incurred a major problem. Any time that there was something that would come up try staff at Heritage Manor were always right there waiting and willing to help find the answer to what ever question you were in need of answering. And if the person that you had asked did not know the answer then he or she would find someone that did. Heritage Manir offered many things to the people that were living there from daily events to special holiday treats. There was always something going on.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Both my father and father in law were residents at Heritage Manor. My father in law was our first encounter with a nursing home setting. We and he could not have been more pleased. We visited often and left each time with our minds at ease. While there he developed a friendship with a particular nurse's aid and our family has always felt that relationship was very special for my father in law. He was well feed, his grooming needs were taken care of and most importantly, the caregivers were quite compassionate. Our scheduled meetings with the staff were informative and helpful. Ten years later when a nursing home setting seemed the appropriate environment for my dad, without hesitation we secured a room at Heritage Manor. Though some of the faces had changed, the basic feel was the same. Friendly faces, competent and accommodating staff and a clean facility. We were blessed that our community had such a wonderful facility to over see the care of our dear family members.
