I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

At first my family loved this place even though it needs a lot of repair work done. The CNAs are out of this world and great personalities to be around. Everyone seemed nice at first but during the last 3 weeks my family member was there the staff (nurses and office workers) have gone downhill. I have heard a woman named Moe scream at patients and I have been disrespected by many of the staff when I call to update them on insurance or check on the health of my family member. I am the POA and the next of kin for this person and it is like finding a needle in a haystack just to find out how they are doing. I asked for no new medicines to be started without asking me first and they did anyways. I asked to be updated at least every 10 days on how my member was recovering and to this day I still have no idea what is going on. Each time I call I either get placed on hold 30 plus minutes or hung up on. The workers there are not very professional and have done nothing but make a hard time worse and more stressful.

My Mother was placed here for I could have some respite care, I called up there every day & ask HOW is My Mother doing???, Everytime I called the answer was "She's resting", Well I ask HOW she was doing not WHAT she was doing, so they are trained to say that on the phone. Plus My Mother was there for 5 days & 4 nights, She came home with a huge gaping wound on her butt, The Hospice nurse had to come out to My house & tend to the open wound that not had even been treated for @ Garden Court. & then did not tell hospice about the open wound that developed @ Garden court, This is horrible,I pray for the Elderly

Garden Court Health and Rehabilitation is old and rundown, but the people are really nice. Mom has a big and nice private room which needs some upgrading, but she gets the care that she needs. They need to get more furniture and do a little bit of paint.

I visited this facility

The nurses and aides are terrible. Extremely loud and disrespectful . The people and the nurses station always got mad if you pushed the call button when the patient needed help. Horrible attitudes. I popped off to them and they all tried to fight me. I was working for a patient up there and they're making it to where I can't even visit my patient. Would not recommend the garden court rehab !!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a friend or relative of resident

My family member was here for about 3 months and went home in January of 2016. We LOVED this rehab facility. Everyone was extremely caring and attentive. On top of being responsive of any needs, they were just as caring with family members as they were with my family member who was there after having a stroke. I would recommend this facility to anyone I know.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Room was quiet, pleasant and cleaned well everyday however, there was an ant problem they could not get rid of. The food was okay for the most part. Nurses and aids were pleasant, however, it took forever to get anyone in when you hit the call light. After dark, forget about anyone answering the call light. Maybe they are short staffed. I don't know but that is why I am giving them 1 star due to the fact if there was a life or death emergency and you hit the call button, would anyone come to check on you?

The only thing positive I can say about this facility is the physical therapy department. They have really good therapists. (It is run by a separate company, maybe that's why). Very loud and unprofessional staff. Nurses could often be heard talking very loud and vulgar at the nurse's station. My family member was in his right mind and evening nurse would routinely not bring all of his medicines. Evening shift employees spent a lot of time on the patio smoking and on cellphones. Took a long time for assistance when calling out. The Shreveport Times reported they are a 1 start nursing home and after having a family member there, i can believe it. Lastly, the food was terrible.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My friend got into the Garden Court Health and Rehabilitation Center around the second week of May. I would like to inform you that the rehab is all right; in fact, the rehab people are excellent, but the regular staff who work here are very insufficient. They do not check on the patient; they do not clean the rooms sufficiently enough; and the food is horrible. They do not make nightly rounds. They pretty much leave the patients on their own -- they let them try to do things by themselves, and that is not good. The building is fine, but they are not exactly what you would call wheelchair accessible because the jambs on the door are not even flat, so people in wheelchairs can't go in and out without assistance. I find that reprehensible. I am a nurse and I know what is supposed to be done every night and I know how a staff member is supposed to act. My friend is not crazy; she knows exactly what is going on and she knows that she is being neglected. She says they have Bingo frequently, but it is not very interesting, and they have movies that nobody watches. Her room is just fine, it is a private room and there are a couple of small closets and small bedside tables, a couch, and a tiny refrigerator. This is probably sufficient for what goes on here, as people normally stay about a hundred days -- that is all. The rehab people are the only good thing about this place. Let me reiterate that the meals here are horrible and it is inexcusable.

My son was in Garden Court Nursing Center for rehabilitation. He liked it there and the staff was okay. However, they could improve on the smell of the place.

I am a past client of this provider

Dad fell six times in the eight months he was at Garden Court. He fell and broke his hip the day I was going to bring him home. And they discharged him to me with a broken hip. They didn't take any x-rays. They just took his word when he was asked if he's okay. He said yes because he knew he was coming home. When he fell, he cut his finger and there was a whole lot of blood. My dad also suffers from dementia and Alzheimer's. So he was more concern about his hand than anything else. When I got him home I couldn't get him out of the car because he couldn't even stand up. I had to call 911, and they came and lifted him out of the car and took him to the hospital. He was operated on the next day. Some of the staff there was good, but overall I would say no. He hated the food because it was really grotesque. It was nothing I would eat. It was bad. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody.
