What ongoing training does the staff receive in dementia care?
We are required to meet state regulations for dementia care training. This is ongoing and done upon hiring and routinely after they're hired for their position.
Describe the overall population of assisted living residents at The Blake at the Grove. What is their average age? What are their favorite things to do?
Average age is 82. They enjoy onsite entertainment, outings, volunteer groups, church service, crafts, puzzles, exercise and the watching movies in our theatre room
What programs or activities does The Blake at the Grove offer to enrich residents' well-being?
Exercise, spiritual groups and onsite activities, music and brain games

Mall of Louisiana, AMC Movie theatre, Dick Sporting Goods, Woodhouse Spa

We offer a multi passenger van with wheelchair lift accommodations
What makes the chef or dining program at The Blake at the Grove exceptional? What kind of menu can assisted living residents expect?
Our Chef has years of experience, he has created a culinary council to discuss dining suggestions and concerns of our residents. Monthly the chef provides a special feature meal outside of the daily menu offered.

We have onsite security daily
How does The Blake at the Grove keep residents' families informed about their loved ones?
We use email, posted memos/flyers and our concierge desk has posted memos as well. We send actual vides of onsite activities via email to our families.
What is the care staff-to-resident ratio at The Blake at the Grove during daytime and nighttime hours?
Staffing is based on our census and acuity of our residents. WE have staff in our community 24/7 both licensed Nurses and Personal Care Attendants. We provide separate staff for Assisted Living and Memory Care
If The Blake at the Grove accepts dogs or cats, what indoor/outdoor areas can they enjoy?
Dogs are allowed in resident suites only and the exterior of our building, sidewalks and walking paths
What ongoing senior care training does the staff receive?
Our staff is routinely trained by our Relias training software along with monthly staff inservices. Our staff meet all state requirements for training and safety prior to working within our community. The training is ongoing

Our Independent Living residents enjoy a worry free lifestyle. The average age is 78

Our Chef has years of experience, he has created a culinary council to discuss dining suggestions and concerns of our residents. Monthly he provides a feature meal outside of the daily menu offered. Our Independent Living residents can dine in their main dining room or in the Bistro. The Bistro is sports bar atmosphere with a full service bar and small plate options. Our daily menu consist of chefs feature for lunch and dinner and the daily menu with more than 6 options

Bistro Bar, rear covered patios, lounges and lobbies on all floor, theatre room and large activity room spaces on 1st and 2nd floor

All our nurses and personal care attendants are Blake employees.

Our staffing is based on census and acuity. Our nurses and personal care attendants work 24/7. Each area has designated personal care attendants for either Assisted Living or Memory Care
What safety features or security measures does The Blake at the Grove provide to protect residents who wander?
We have a secure memory care neighborhood within our Assisted Living
What programs or activities does The Blake at the Grove offer to keep residents engaged? How does the staff engage residents' long-term memories?
Our memory care staff engage with residents through a walk with me through tomorrow programming format. When a resident moves into our community, we have the family complete a activity assessment of current and former interest of the resident. Our Memory Care Director takes that information and creates meaningful days by engaging the resident in things of current and former interest either in large or small groups based on what they can tolerate. This is constantly changing to match the changing needs of our residents.
Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?
Our Director of Wellness does all routine wellness assessments of our residents and communicates changes with family and physician. This assessment determines their level of care.
What techniques does The Blake at the Grove use to support memory care residents during mealtimes?
We offer adaptive dining for residents based on their ability to feed themselves, swallowing precautions and need of cues. THis is heavily monitored by physician, nursing and Director of Dining
How does The Blake at the Grove keep residents' families informed about their loved ones' health?
Our Director of Wellness and Executive Director schedules routine family meeting to keep the family informed on the needs of the residents.
