We liked Beehive Homes of Louisville/Smyrna Memory Care because it was smaller and had a more intimate feeling to it. Leann was the person who gave the tour and she was very professional and very welcoming in her attitude. Being a smaller unit, it seemed like the staffing ratio would be better, too. They had a barber shop, a beauty shop, a spa for doing nails, and some limited outdoor facilities where residents could sit outside in good weather. We were very impressed with them.

I visited BeeHive Homes of Louisville/Smyrna Memory Care. I did not like it at all. It was extremely small. There were no locks on the gate in the courtyard, and it's right by a very busy road. The dining room looked like it had maybe two or three tables. The residents were all just sitting around on couches watching TV. They seemed bored. I was not impressed in any way, shape, or form with that facility. I was shocked that there were no locks. The upkeep of the building looked OK.

I had an appointment with Beehive Homes of Louisville/Smyrna Memory Care for my sister, and my daughter and I went and there was no one there to give me any information. There was no one there to take me on a tour. But the employee that was working there that day went ahead and took us on a tour, which was very nice. This is in memory care. I liked the memory care setup. The Beehive rooms are big. I love that. You can put a bed in there and a couple of chairs or some stuff. It was a nice comfort point for me. They have a bird cage with birds in it and it's all glass which was nice. I liked the door. It looked like it was nothing but books, like a library, but it was a door. It's pretty cool. The memory side is a lockdown so that residents can't get out. I also went out front to the assisted living part and I didn't care how the setup was. They make you walk into the main lobby. They're sitting there with the TV, and everybody was sitting around and watching television. The kitchen is like a kitchenette. They cook on their 4-burner stove for the residents, and I didn't like that part. They can walk up and get burned. They didn't have anybody there to answer my questions and I couldn't get prices. But as far as the employee that took me on the tour, she was very nice. She let us look at a couple of rooms and that part was nice. They had a room with a couple in there and we got to meet them. The place seemed very nice and clean.

I went to Beehive Homes. It was clean. The rooms were a pretty good size. They had lots of little nooks and distractions. I appreciated that. However, the downside is that there was a smell that I wasn't excited about. The staff members had been there for three years or less, and the woman who was in charge of the unit was only 21 years old and was just about to graduate college with her Social Services degree. She seemed to be inexperienced for a director. Additionally, the staff members having an average span of three years there made me feel like there has been some turnover.

I saw the small dining area for a few residents, but it was adequate. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
