Provision Living at Beaumont Centre trains every staff member to be prepared to work with residents who have dementia diagnoses. Beginning with orientation, our team is provided training on effective approaches, understanding behaviors, and how to communicate with dementia residents. Our state guidelines require that we provide an ongoing program of dementia care skills training for all staff, both in our Memory Care and in our Personal Care. Our ongoing continuing education program includes extensive training for providing the best services for our Memory Care residents. We utilize resources and training techniques that are recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association and other organizations dedicated to providing care and services for those with dementia diagnoses.

These diverse backgrounds give our community a rich and robust group of people who quickly become friends and find common ground. Residents range in age from 46 to 98 with an average resident age of 84. Favorite activities include shopping, outings to surrounding parks and attractions. Our residents enjoy gathering for musical guests who frequently come in to preform for our residents in our Woodford Reserve room.

Our Executive Chef has over 18 years of food and culinary expertise in fine dining and restaurants. He brings creativity and flavor to our menus and adds special touches and dishes that may be new to our resident’s palates. Our restaurant style meal service is delivered in our beautiful dining room that is open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 pm. We offer a featured meal each day for the noon and evening meals, as well as an extensive ala carte menu. Ala carte selections are prepared to order at each meal. Breakfast is always cooked to order and is available upon request at all three meals!

Our community is a fully-sprinklered ensuring even greater safety for residents. Residents bedrooms and bathrooms have a call system that is monitored in a central location and alerts staff when a resident needs assistance. All entry and exit doors are alarmed and provide a greater measure of security. Our front entrance is locked 24/7 and requires staff assistance to enter the community. Provision Living at Beaumont Centre is also monitored 24/7 via security video cameras to ensure the safest possible setting for each of our residents.

Provision Living at Beaumont Centre is a pet-friendly community and we understand that our residents’ pets are family. Dogs and cats are welcome; however, must remain inside the resident’s personal apartment. Unfortunately, not everyone enjoys having pets in their lives and we must respect their rights as well as those of our pet owners. All pets must be leashed when outside the resident’s apartment, in common area, or outside on the grounds. We request that each resident and/or a family member ensure the care of the pet. Pets are not allowed in the dining rooms at any time.

Provision Living at Beaumont Centre is committed to ensuring that our caregivers are provided with ongoing education and training. Upon becoming a member of our team, each staff member is provided with an extensive orientation process that includes both State required training and additional training required by our community. Both new hire training and our ongoing continuing education programs include topics related to Dementia, Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Resident Safety, Confidentiality and Safeguarding of resident information, Safe Medication Administration Techniques, and Customer Service. Resident safety and security are a priority for the Provision Living at Beaumont Centre team. Safety measures include Sign-in and Sign-out system by Accushield at the front entry. All entry and exit doors are alarmed and those alarms are linked to staff pagers. Video security cameras are placed throughout the community and monitored for activity. The front entry doors are locked from 24/7 to provide an additional measure of safety and security. All other doors always remain locked from the outside and require a key code or staff assistance to gain entrance. Residents with a known history of wandering are referred to the care of Monarch Square our Memory Care Neighborhood.

Provision Living at Beaumont Centre’s Monarch Square Memory Care Neighborhood is designed to engage residents and encourage interaction between residents and caregivers. The neighborhood is intentionally designed to provide “activity” stations that appeal to residents who are may wander or have repetitive behaviors. The neighborhood offers an activities table with puzzles, memory games, adult coloring and painting supplies that residents have access to around the clock. The space is open and conducive to those who enjoy walking and offers activities stations for sorting and folding, sensory stimulation, organizing and tactile stimulation. Reminiscing activities often feature a topic and encourage residents to share their experiences from a past time in their lives to stimulate long-term memory.

In addition to our trained caregivers, our director of nursing and wellness manages the assessment of each resident using monthly reviews, regularly scheduled individual service plan updates and ongoing communication with staff and families. Provision Living at Beaumont Centre’s team establishes a baseline cognitive level for each Memory Care Neighborhood resident during the admission assessment process. Residents are formally re-assessed and their individual plans are established upon admission and updated every three months or when changes are observed by staff that require a new plan to ensure resident needs are being addressed.

Provision Living at Beaumont Centre provides each Monarch Square Resident with choices and options for meals. Caregivers take orders for each meal and residents join each other in a family-style setting in the dining area of the neighborhood to share the meal. To assist our dementia residents in making their meal choices, our caregivers often use our picture menus to help them decide what they want to eat. Caregivers often share the meal with residents providing a modeling opportunity that encourages residents to eat. As resident’s progress through the varying stages of dementia, caregivers may request certain types of foods, for example, finger foods or sweet tasting items that appeal to the resident.
