I visited this facility

Chisholm Place is a very nice facility. The staff there was very helpful and answered all of our questions and made us feel very at home there, and their facility was excellent. The staff members were very accommodating to us and knowledgeable, and they were able to answer the questions that we had. It was an excellent facility. Their surroundings are wonderful, it's a good location. They have lots of activities for their residents, activities, and opportunities for exercise and socializing.

Provider Response

I visited this facility

The residents at Chisholm Place are not just encouraged, they're kind of nudged into interacting with one another. They have a multitude of group activities, and I was able to participate in one. They have a community sing-along, everyone just sits in the common area and they all sing along with all these songs. And you can just see everyone's face light up. I don't want to say that the rooms were adequate, that's not what they were. They were great, they were really good. Each room had its own private bathroom, or they had studios with a shared bathroom, and both were just great. The maintenance and upkeep seemed great. Everything was just there, there were no complaints at all. It was just top-notch. The staff who gave the tour was wonderful. Their dining area was more informal, but it was well-equipped, well-lighted, and clean. It was spacious, it was great.

Provider Response

Mike thank you for the kind words. We are so glad you saw our Chisholm family the way we do. We are honored to be part of their lives. We appreciate you taking time to tour and to write this gracious review. We are here to help- feel free to call us anytime .

I visited this facility

Chisholm Place is a great place. I was impressed with it. They have a lot of activities. They gave me a list of the activities they had for each day of July. The only problem I ran into it was that my wife hasn't been vaccinated, and I kind of got the impression why they wouldn't even take her unless she had then COVID shots, and then they called me Monday and I spoke to them a bit and they said, 'Well, she just had to be quarantined until she gets her shots.' The staff was great. She was informative, and she knew how everything worked. It is a large facility. I think my wife needs the area to walk because she moves around although slow, she doesn't get enough exercise in the house and I think a facility like that where she had to walk always would be helpful.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband is at Chisholm Place. It's a very caring facility, very neat, and very clean. The CNAs and the aides all address the residents by name. They don't talk down to them, just because they're in a memory care place. The director is very approachable. She's available to talk to you at any time. I found everyone that works there quite helpful. I would recommend it to anyone. Right now, the visitation is rather limited. You can see your loved one an hour a day, but you can go every day if you chose to do that. I'm just really satisfied and happy with it. They have activities, they do crafts, they have a courtyard that they can take the people out, which I think is important that they get outside and get some fresh air, and they have a common area where there's a TV that they can watch if they so choose. It's really nice that they do not leave my husband just in his room by himself. When I go to visit him, when we're finished with our visit, the gal always takes him and puts him back in the common area with the other residents, so he's not isolated in his room. Right now, the dining area is closed to anyone besides the residents, but he says he likes the food. I'm sure he will join in the activities as soon as things kind of open up a little bit. In fact, they posted some pictures on their Facebook page of the residents' things they had done for the 4th of July. Although my husband is not a joiner or he was not a joiner, I think that will be an important part. It's pricy, but he's also getting the highest level of care that they offer so that accounts for some of the cost.

I visited this facility

I love Chisholm Place. I met with the receptionist, she was very nice, very professional. The lady that gave us our tour, Sue, was very nice. She was explaining everything. And then there was another director that we were able to meet. They were able to get us in at the last minute. It was wonderful there. The facility, the ratio of the clients to men and women was equal. It was a bigger facility than the other one. They had a couple of rooms for husband and wife. They had activities. They have arts and crafts. When we were there that day, they were having a class session for some of the seniors. They had an outside facility that's in the center of the building where patients plant flowers. They get to take care of the garden because some of the clients there are gardeners, and they keep doing what they are interested in. She showed us the rooms. You can use their furniture or you could bring in your own. The rooms were nice. The only thing is they have a chest of drawers for the patient's clothing instead of closets, but I liked the chest of drawers. The staff was more engaged with the visitors. The patients were friendlier than in the other place.

Provider Response

Norma- Thank you for taking the time to write and share this feedback! We strive to do what we believe in and stand for: " To Protect, Engage & LOVE" your Loved One. We are so proud you saw what we get to experience daily- to see our Residents smile. Moments of Joy are our Birthright and every person deserves those even when we get further on our journey. Thank you again- your kind words will be shared with the entire staff. We love our partnership with Caring.com for allowing us to meet special families like you.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I visited many care facilities before making the difficult decision to move my husband to a residential setting. I felt led to Chisholm Place and that decision has been positively reinforced many times over. This is a loving, caring community experience with staff and administration tuned in to individual needs and adapting to meet those needs. I have many times personally witnessed the staff reacting with kindness and using the skills of redirecting to keep everyone safe in the community. The rooms are a nice size with large bathrooms. Residents have the opportunity to participate in many varied activities but also have a quiet space if that’s their preference. The staff has truly been rockstar heroes during Covid quarantine. Lots of FaceTime opportunities, pictures on FaceBook page and staff responsive to family’s questions. No placement is perfect, but Chisholm Place has been a blessing to our family.

Chisholm Place is a good fit for my mother because it reminded me of the assisted living place where she was living. It's very clean and the people are very nice. I like it. It's homey. They watch TV out in the living room, and they take them for walks in their little garden area. She's happy there. The staff is very nice. I was there the day she moved in and that was the last day I was able to see her because of the lockdown. They've been treating her well, and they've put a smile back on her face. I'm happy for her.

We're really pleased with Chisholm Place. The atmosphere is welcoming. There's always a lot of staff members present and a lot of residents out doing things. They try to get them out of their rooms and have them interact with the other residents. They've hired more activity instructors, so they have more activities for them in the evenings and on the weekends. The staff is very attentive, very caring, and goes out of their way to help. My father's room is open and bright. We got him a double. It's nice because he can have a couch and a little bit more room. The bathroom is big, and it has good windows. The activity director is really good.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother stayed at Chisholm Place. They provided good care, and the facility was nice. Everybody seemed professional and on top of things. It's a good place, but she had a fall and had to go to the hospital. Chisholm Place recommended that we move her to skilled nursing. They had a nice outdoor facility, and she participated in group activities. The food was good. She liked it there, and we were very satisfied. They just couldn't adequately provide the level of care that she needed. Her room was always kept clean and comfortable. The staff was good, but the chief nurse left, and they were the main person we interacted with.

Chisholm Place is very nice. The layout is square, so it's easy for the people living there to get around, because they just keep going until they run into what they're looking for. So far everybody has been very nice. The place is very clean and they take care of my mom. The dining area is very nice, they use table cloths and napkins, and the food looks really good. The menus are posted on the wall, and they have an actual chef, not just a cook. The one day I was there they had little pool noodles and balloons, and they were hitting the balloons back and forth to each other. And then they have a walking club, where they go to many circuits around the building. The price cost a lot of money though.

I visited this facility

Chisholm Place only houses memory care patients, and the people were all very friendly. They had different types of apartments that were spacious and clean and had options like hardwood floors or carpets. They had activities for the residents that catered specifically to their personalities. There's also an interior walk-path so they can walk inside or outside and still be safe.

I visited and it was good. The utilitarian room is adequate. The rooms are okay. I generally like the facility and they specialize in memory care. Overall, I am impressed. The dining area was nice. Overall I think it's a good facility, and I'm just going to leave it at that.

It was a very nice facility. One of the reasons we were not interested in it was because it was a higher level of care than what we needed. The cleanliness was excellent. Everything we looked at was excellent. The way that they gave us a tour was excellent. The rooms looked very nice and very clean.

The environment at this community was not quite as uplifting as some of the other places I've visited, but they were certainly doing a good job for the residents.

We placed my dad here. We picked them because we are really impressed with the people that work there. It is not a really large facility, which we like. We like the room that my dad is placed in. It is fully furnished. The location is nice and close to where my brother and I live. We like the food that they serve. My dad actually chose it. This morning they played bingo, and today they have someone coming in who plays guitar. They have music activities. They have a person in charge of the activities. They do Frisbee, balloon toss, cooking, reminiscing, and bible study. They have something going on all the time. They served popcorn for them yesterday, and the smell of the popcorn gets my dad up and out of his room. They have a beautiful, open garden area that the patients can go out, walk, and sit in anytime they want. We have no problems with them. My dad went into a problem area last weekend. He keeps moving all of his stuff out of his room and packing them all up. He is determined that they will tell him that he can leave. I go and put everything away, and then he will pack it all up again. After the third time we decided to just leave it the way he has it. Then the day after he didn't like it that way anymore, he started unpacking it and put it away. Then we had a good week. They work with him so well. The rooms are furnished, and the furniture is really nice.

My wife is in memory care, and I am not really satisfied with it. It is a good facility, but with her condition, I just feel that she is not being taken care of as she could be or should be. I could be wrong. My wife is still there, and I don't intend on taking her out. It is a square shaped building, and the hallways are really long. One of the problems with my wife is that she has started wandering like people do with dementia and going in other people's rooms, so they keep telling me, "Oh, we will watch her and keep her," but what I don't understand is some of the residents leave their doors open, and it is just an invitation for somebody with dementia. They don't know where they are, they just walk in, and then if they need clothes they all go into the closet and get clothes and take them. So the staff is not one-on-one because that is so expensive probably for anybody. The price was one reason why we chose it because it was one of the cheapest places. They did not have a full place when I went -- it was only about 50 percent when she moved in and it is filling up now -- but they gave me a good deal. It was a good deal compared with what I would have had to pay for a single room because they gave me a double room for one person, and then they gave me level 2 so that was a little cheaper. It is OK, but there is nothing good about the whole situation, and that is not really knocking down, it is just the situation that I am in financially and my wife is in mentally. They do have activities, but I find them a total waste of time for somebody at her level. When I took her to play bingo, half of the people present would go to sleep while that was going on. Another thing was the exercise program. I happened to be there one day when they were doing that, and the only one doing it was the director who would sit by one person, and they would try to do it, but as I looked around, again half of the tmem were sleeping and not paying attention at all. But that is not the community's fault. It is where these residents are in their lifetime. The rooms are really nice, and they furnish everything. You don't have to move furniture in and out, they will use their own furniture, and it is nice. The single room has a bathroom, a separate room, and a nice shower area that you can walk in and where you don't have to step over something -- just a plain walk-in -- so there is no tripping or anything.

We have my mother-in-law here. It is entirely memory care, and it is about five miles from the house, so it is very convenient. The food is good, and she likes it. Her room is very pleasant. It has a nice central area where patients can walk outside. They have a great staff. They are always very pleasant. The patients are well taken care of. The food is excellent. They manage her medications properly. It is just a really top notch place.
