Legend at Capital Ridge is strictly assisted living and memory care, far more regimented than the other place. They're clean. It's a well-maintained facility, but the vibe leaned more towards the assisted. You have to eat in the main area and time is regimented. Room layouts were good. The staff was very knowledgeable. It's not that anything was bad, but it was much more of an institutional feel to it. They have a salon, a rec room, a dining area, and an outside courtyard.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to visit us James! We take feedback seriously, thank you for sharing your experience.

I liked Legend at Capital Ridge very much. It was very light, very friendly, very open, and very spacious. It was good. The staff was very knowledgeable. The individual, unfortunately, has only been there a month, so there are some things that he wasn't able to answer, but overall, he was very good. The rooms were great. They were very nice. I saw different room sizes, and I was very impressed. They said they have everything in terms of keeping the residents actively involved, but I didn't see anything.

Provider Response

Thank you, Kurt for taking the time to write this great review! We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit at the residence. Please feel free to ask to meet our Life Enrichment Coordinator to discuss the many ways we keep residents actively engaged during their stay. We hope to earn the privilege to serve you and your family in the future.

I went to visit Legend at Capital Ridge for their assisted living. The rooms were kind of small. If you are not in a wheelchair, it would be just fine (like if you had a walker). It felt a little tight to maneuver around those rooms with a wheelchair once you get the furniture in. They were really nice rooms, and it was a really nice facility. For us, for wheelchair purposes, it would be a struggle. They had a small kitchenette, a half-size refrigerator, and a microwave. You bring in your furniture or whatever else you'd like, including what you want to make the room look like you want. You supply those things. They had three meals They had a little coffee station, and they had a bistro area to get drinks, coffee, and stuff like that throughout the day. The lady that I talked to was very helpful and very good. I didn't try the meals, but they had a good variety of meals and options. There was a restaurant-style menu that you could choose from.

Legend at Capital Ridge was very accommodating. They were great. It was so clean and new. It had a lot of nice amenities. The food looked good, and we liked the people. It was nice. They had two places you could entertain people. They had crafts, activities, and a nice atrium area that you could walk or sit on and soak up in the sun. We looked at three sizes of rooms and they were quite adequate and very nice. They also had nice sidewalks that you could walk around with benches to sit on just every few feet; you didn't have to walk long ways. The dining area was a very appetizing place to sit. It was much so much like a restaurant, and it was cool the way it was arranged. My brother liked the place, too.

Provider Response

Thank you Marleys, for sharing your experience and leaving this great review! We hope to have the opportunity to serve you and your family in the future.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad was at Legend at Capital Ridge, and it's extremely nice. We didn't get to really interact with the staff very long, but I met some really nice and very helpful people. The unfortunate part was he just really didn't get to take part in the amenities because he passed away after four days. When we went and visited about a month ago, we got there at the right time, so we could eat dinner. They served me a plate as well, and I thought the food was really good. It's pretty expensive (a little over $4,000 a month), but I think it was well worth it.

Provider Response

Hi Brett, we're sorry to hear of your father's passing. We appreciate this review and for the privilege to serve you and your family.

I did a tour with Legend at Capital Ridge. It is nice and it is pricey. They do a lot of things that I really like, but it costs $7000 plus a little bit more for the memory care. They have some hand exercises for them to work on and some activities to do. My husband is not very motivated to do anything by himself and the staff said they'll try and collect him for the different activities. On the other hand, I am not sure how much he would really do.I think to myself, "okay they have all of this stuff, but will he really use it? Is it worth two thousand more?" The staff member that gave us a tour was very informative. We looked at some other departments that were not in the memory care unit, but they seem to want to put him in memory care. The room in the memory care unit had a living area and a separate bedroom. It has enough space. Some roooms have full-size beds. His room had plenty of space for his belongings and a twin bed, which is what I thought I would get for him. They had a big sitting room and activities to do there. There were some women that were coloring and other options available that they can do to utilize their hands. There were several people in the common areas. The staff member told me that they don't let them spend all of the time in their rooms. They had about three people in the memory care unit. The place is really nice and I really like it, but I don't know if we can afford it. The place is wonderful and it does look like they have things for them to do. Another concern for me is that it is all the way across town. They had some rocking chairs outside and you can sit out there and relax.

Provider Response

Thank you for visiting us Linda! We are glad you had a good experience. Thank you for your feedback and concerns.

My father is at the Legend at Capital Ridge. So far, it's been great. Everything's been going pretty good. There were a couple little incidences of miscommunication, but everything has been fine since then. It's a very well-kept place. The staff is very engaging. Whenever we need anything, they're happy to help us get what we need. A few times I was in there with him the staff came in to check on him. His apartment is small. The bedroom area is adequate sized, but the living area is pretty small. He uses their restaurant, and they have an activity center where they do programs. The food is pretty bland.

Provider Response

My impression of Legend at Capital Ridge was very nice. They have small rooms and the dining area looked okay. They have about the same amenities as the other senior community we found. It's a nice place but we just liked the other one better. The staff in Legend at Capital Ridge was good as well as the residents, there wasn't anything wrong with this community overall. The room we looked at we're not interested with it at all because it was very small.

Provider Response

Legend at Capital Ridge was exceptionally nice, and the staff was very friendly and gave me good written information. The rooms were excellent. The only thing I was concerned about was it did not seem like there were many activities to occupy the residents.

Legend of Capital Ridge was a totally different kind of environment because it was more for people with memory issues and much more solemn. There were people together in a clubhouse. The clients were very quiet, and there was not the activity that would be going on in the independent living. The person who gave us the tour provided me with information about what was there and the type of atmosphere it was, so he did an excellent job. The facility was very clean and lovely.

Legend at Capital Ridge was very nice, modern, clean, up-to-date, and had nice, small rooms. The staff was very good, showed us the various apartments that were available, explained what was available as far as the type of help that they can provide, and discussed with us the possibility of long-term care insurance and the help it might provide. She showed us the cafeteria and the snack bar area. She told us they had quite a bit of activities going on.

The Legend was very clean and nice. The staff was very good, and the rooms were very nice but very expensive. The staff seemed very good. It was in a very nice location in the outskirts of Topeka, so you can overlook the capital city.

We weren’t too impressed with our visit to Legend at Capital Ridge. It was a nice place, but it seemed more like a nursing home. It was really quiet and not a lot of activities were going on. The rooms were nice, and the dining area was nice as well. The staff was really friendly, but the place really was not my dad's cup of tea.

We really like Legend, but they didn't have a registered nurse at night, and that was the problem for us because my mom needed that extra care for her diabetes. The staff was really nice. They took me to the garden area where they can go and sit. The facility is only 5 years old, so everything is nice, pretty, new, and up-to-date; however, we found out later that we can't go there.

I had a walk through at Legend. It was extremely nice and extremely modern, but for its price, we didn't pursue it. The rooms were very large. The facility was 4 years old. So, obviously, it was extremely modern and very clean. Their dining area approached was restaurant style. You would order from a menu.
