I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad feels like HR is his home and has so many good relationships with staff. He loves the activities! They are very kind to him. When he leaves for an appointment or activity, he can't wait to return.

1. My mother was self pay and had to stay in double occupancy. She required help using the toilet because the handicap seat they provided was so high, she actually had to climb up on the toilet to use it, consequently causing an increase in her daily rate. The elevated handicap toilet seat was so high her legs dangled and her feet could not reach the floor. Staff rarely assisted her within an hour after pushing the call button. Frequently she would be left on the toilet for long periods before help would get her down. 2. Mother was there for physical therapy . The physical therapist was lousy. Frequently she only received occupational therapy from Ashley who was very caring and a good therapist. 3. My sister and I were there every day. It was the only way we could be certain mother got at least one meal a day and her morning meds which she rarely received prior to 1pm. 4. Mother was there for two weeks and her final bill is well over $3500. We have required an itemized bill prior to paying as we suspect a duplication of charges or charges for services not received. After 6 weeks we still have not received itemized bill. I am preparing a letter to the Ks AG requesting and audit of this facilities billing practices. My concern it that all residents are being over charged.

The residents suffer if they do not have family that are there everyday. I was with my Dad everyday. I had to force them to give him a bath. He said he did not want one and they just let it go. They gave him pills and he started to sleep all day. I complained because his medical directive said to give him food and water. He did not want to starve. The poor man died of anorexia and that was under 24 hour care. He was a sharp dresser and he never had his shirt tucked in or his hair combed. My Dad died weighing 88 pounds. The place was so short handed. I walked by the drug box one day and a vial of morphine was sitting in a box and no CMA around. . The Admin was not reachable. Social Services were horrible. I would not recommend the place to my worst enemy..

Weekends are the worst. Residents call lights are not answered. CNA will constantly make excuses for wht thet cannot help residents. CNA's are rough when helping residents dress. Director of Nursing, Administrator of the ignore problems with staff. Housekeeping is poor. Would not recommend Holiday Resort.

Facility is nice. Management is "too good for the residents". My mother-in-law has various minor problems with her apartment, but maintenance can't seem to find to make the fixes - things like the hand-shower is falling off the wall (we duct-taped and zip-tied it up). My mother-in-law's neighbor died in the apartment next door, but no one checked until my mother-in-law told the on-site manager TWICE (first time, "Oh, I'll get to it"). The facility is supposed to check people at 10 am, but that doesn't happen any more. Lots of little things falling through the cracks in the last two years. On-site manager spends plenty of time smoking on the porch outside her office.

My experience back then with my mom at Holiday Resort was excellent. She had a big room, and the people seemed very caring, and they and lots of activities and places to go to. They have a big dining room.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

For six years my father was a resident of Holiday Resort. We visited him often. Overall, I believe that he was very well cared for from the time he entered the residence until the day he passed away. One of the things that I appreciated most about this facility was the monthly newsletter. This was sent to all family members and it gave us a calendar of the events that were being held. Each month, the staff worked hard to give the residents a variety of activities to participate in. Some of the favorites were the fireworks on the fourth, trick or treating, pie and ice cream social, and the monthly sing alongs. From a young age, my sons became comfortable visiting their grandpa. One of them entertained with a group from his violin class. Another aspect was that they also provided a lot of physical activities for the residents. For example, there were spelling bees, senior olympics, bingo and nature walks for those able. I appreciated the staff. Each month I was invited to a meeting where my father's care was discussed. They worked very hard to keep him as active as possible with walking and exercise. Towards the end of his life, either I or my husband set up a vigil by his bedside. The nurses and other attendants were very quiet when they entered and provided us with anything we needed. I was by my father's side when he took his last earthly breath. Overall, this was a wonderful last home for my father. I couldn't have asked for anything more. The only drawback was that the home changed hands at least three times during Dad's stay. This did cause some problems with his insurance, Medicare and the payments. Other than this, I would fully recommend Holiday Resort for anyone needing a nursing home.
