Assisted Living Reviews for Atria Newburgh

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Overall, my relative is very happy here. However, there are problems from time to time. Recently, there was a mix up regarding whether or not my relative had ordered a meal, and she was in tears because of the way the staff treated her. The staff member even came to her door to show her the form which she filled out wrong. I can't believe somebody would treat my 90 year old relative like this, and that's not even taking into account the fact contact should be limited due to COVID. Luckily, my relative was able to get food with the help of another staff member.

I was very impressed with Atria Newburgh. One thing I liked about it was the perfect location. It also seems to be very well-run and very nice. The room I saw was very nice, small, but very adequate, and seemed to be well laid out. The dining room looked very nice and they have other meeting rooms or gathering rooms as well. They also have a private dining room if you want to have your family over. The transportation sounded good. The place has also been there for a while so it has a good reputation.

I liked everything about Atria Newburgh, but it was expensive. It's absolutely beautiful, and the staff was excellent. They recommended home specialty service and who to get. The location and the grounds were perfect. They had special units for Alzheimer's and everything you need there. The food was wonderful. The dining area was restaurant-style with menu, linen tablecloths, set silverware, and napkins, and they do different themes on different days. It was perfect.

Atria Newburgh had a newer and cleaner feel, the accommodations were very good, and it seemed to be a good facility. The tour guide was adequate. The dining area looked nice and inviting. I saw the exercise area, and I thought it was nice and they had a nice game room area.

I visited this facility

I visited Atria Newburgh. They had multiple sizes of rooms. They had one or two bedrooms and studios. The staff treated me very well. I was very impressed. Their dining area was a restaurant setting with fixed meal times and additional menu service for non-meal time kind of diner. So, if you missed a meal, you could always order something off of a limited menu. They had excursion activities, local gaming activities, running activities, exercises, card games, bingo and social activities. I liked the place.

I went to visit Atria Newburgh, and I thought it was really small. The cleanliness is fine. I just don’t like that it's small.

Provider Response

Thank you for visiting Atria Newburgh. I’m sorry that our smaller community model wasn’t a good fit for you but I hope that you find a community that meets your needs. I welcome any other feedback.

Atria Newburgh is really nice. People feel like they are living in a community where they can be friends with other people there, so everybody seems happy. The dining room is nice.

Atria Newburgh is a very beautiful facility. My husband’s parents are living on the second floor. They both have walkers, but there is an elevator. The dining room is on the ground floor, and the laundry facility is right down the hall from their little three-bedroom apartment. There are people that come in to check on them to make sure that they’re coming down for the meals and help them with the washing of their towels and linens. They have a lot of activities at the facility. We have received an invitation for a dinner that they’re having for family members next Thursday. The food is delicious; my father-in-law likes their dessert. He’s not used to having desserts that often, and now he really enjoys it. They feed them very well. This facility was recommended to us, and we would highly recommend it, too.

Atria Newburg is beautiful facility. It is very nice. The outside is very pretty. The inside is attractive. Their apartments are similar to the ones at the other facility I've looked at. Their dining room is very nice. Everything is nicely set up. The staff is extremely friendly and seems very caring. Everything in this facility is excessively nice. I would like my half-sister to be there; however, they don't take Medicaid.

The staff was extremely helpful and seemed to build personal relationships with each resident. I had not seen my great grandmother in years so I was unaware of the condition she was in. The staff provided a run down for my family and me describing her situation. A staff member gave us a tour of the facility and then brought us to see my great grandmother. We were able to spend as long as we wanted with her and have lunch there together at a big table they set up for out whole family. The facility itself was a little dated and looked like it could use some livening up. Overall I was very pleased with the facility that my great grandmother was staying in. She seemed like she had adjusted very well to her new home after having never lived in a place like that before. The staff was absolutely great and they treated her well until she passed. I am very happy that we found a place like this.

We live in Tennessee and my husband and I were going to visit his mother for the first time since her accident at the assisted living home. When we got there the staff was very helpful and got us up to date on my mother in laws recovery. We were able to sit in with her during to see the exercises that she was doing to get the strength back in her new hip. I was concerned about whether my mother in law would actually try to get better, or if she would just stop trying to get better, but the staff has motivated her so much. Because of that motivation she is ahead of schedule with her rehab. We also were able to eat dinner with her in her room, and the food was great. My mother in law loves her room, and she is able to decorate it anyway she wants too. My mother in law is doing great and should be able to go home soon.

My grandmother suffered from various ailments, including a couple of mild heart attacks. She was having trouble managing her home anymore, so we decided as a family to find a living situation that would best fit her needs. We couldn't be happier with having her live at Atria. It's in a convenient location, under a mile from my mother's house, right off the highway, tucked behind a quiet neighborhood. The building and the grounds are beautiful and warm, much like a real home, with gorgeous landscaping, a wraparound porch with big, comfy rocking chairs, and entry and exits that are accessible to people of any physical capability. Grandma has her own private studio apartment that we've decorated for her with favorite things from her home, and she has a huge bathroom that is easy for her to use. Her kitchen is modern but simple, giving her just what she needs to do her own cooking, and she can also eat in the dining room. They have activities all day every day, which is so important to her, since she is such a social person. She really seems to like the staff, too. They are kind and respectful, and available to my mother for any questions she has about Grandma's health or medications. Grandma is receiving the best care possible at Atria, with a high quality of life that she deserves.
