I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

It's a great facility, with a great staff. Good food, good entertainment and activities. My mom Cindy Elder worked here and was a resident for a while. She loved it. Highly recommended.

My wife is a resident of The Villages at Historic Silvercrest. The cleanliness and the staff make the place. The staff were friendly and caring, I haven't met one who isn't. It doesn't feel like a nursing home. It doesn't feel like all the nursing homes I've been in before. Their staff is top-notch, and the food is excellent. Their location is up in a wooded area. When you go outside for a stroll, it's just pleasant surroundings. They have a beauty salon. My wife had her hair fixed down there, twice. There was a sitting area outside. You could go out there and have a barbecue.

I visited this facility

We went to The Villages at Historic Silvercrest. All the rooms were of possibly different sizes since it had been a hospital, a sanatorium, and a children's home. There's a slight difference in the room at each one because they had, at various times, served different functions. So that was the thing about it being so old. It was very hard to guess what you would get if you book a room there. The people were okay. They were a little bit different from the people I talked to in other places. But I saw it, I walked all over it, I walked outside, and there was not anything bad about it, but there was nothing so great about it. They had outside space where you could sit, and they had what looked like a lovely dining room. They had independent entertainment going on at the time. It was music. But there was something about the fact that there was no dependable size of the room. There was just something about it that I just didn't like. Their dining area was very attractive. Maintenance seemed to have been good considering how old their building is. It was in good condition. But I couldn't find myself willing to move to a place where I couldn't see where I would be living. It's not like all bedrooms look alike; they didn't in any way look alike. The staff was OK. She wasn't there when we got there, but we waited a little bit, and then she came. She was a little bit strange in that she said how many people they had that were on Medicaid and that they only allow 10 Medicaid. And I thought, 'Okay.' The whole Medicaid is okay with me, but I got a feeling that there was just a little bit of a class system there.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I lived in the Villages at Historic Silvercrest. It was very cold, and the residents were not friendly. The staff was very friendly, the food was very good, but it was not conducive to one big happy family. They did not work to include people to get to know one another, and be close. There were little cliques, and a new person will find it very hard to fit in.

I visited this facility

The Villages at Historic Silvercrest was an older building, but they did an outstanding job of restoring it. It was very visually pleasing. Being a five-story building, they had some really good views of the woods and it's on top of the hill with a good, panoramic vista. The staff member during the tour was very knowledgeable, but she was only part-time weekend help. She would have to get some answers from somebody else, but she was trying. I didn't have much interaction with the staff. We just had a quick look in the dining area. My dad would have been on the fourth floor and he would have had to come down to the ground floor for all his meals.

My mother-in-law got nursing care in The Villages at Historic Silvercrest. The rooms were very nice, and the place was very nice. They have a full table of activities, they have puzzles, games, and just probably everything you can imagine. There was a room full of stuff in it, there was a library, and they organize a lot of stuff to do. It used to be a hospital way back when, and then it was a children's home. So it was a hospital, but they made it very nice. My mother-in-law was on a pureed diet, but overall the food was good. The community was beautiful, it was a very nice place, very homey, and comfortable. When she was there for physical therapy, she didn't pay out-of-pocket very much.

I visited this facility

The Villages at Historic Silvercrest were very well kept and it looked like a hotel. The staff was very helpful. The dining area looked good. They had linen tablecloths, real silverware, and glasses. It was like a restaurant, not a facility. They have bingo, activities like movie night, and they have someone come in and play the piano.

The Villages at Historic Silvercrest is very nice and very clean. My husband has a very beautiful condo. In comparison to other communities, this one is less expensive. They have regular meals and they have good cooking. They have a very good, caring staff. It has been a nice experience. They do have some activities, but he doesn't participate in them. There seems to be painting, crafts, and trips.

I am/was a resident of this facility

The Villages at Historic Silvercrest is the best of the three places I have been in lately. The food was good when I first came here, but you get tired of that kind of food. I'm fortunate to have one of the biggest rooms on the third floor, but it's very expensive. Most of the staff is very nice, but once in a while, you get someone who's got a chip on their shoulder, but they're pretty good. They go out a lot of times to restaurants, and I enjoy Bingo and bunco, and they have Happy Hour on Fridays and music. They have other people come in periodically during the week to play music which is very nice so I usually attend that.
