Rittenhouse Village at Michigan City looked very nice. It was very welcoming. The staff was very professional and pleasant. It looked like they set up all kinds of activities and activity centers for the residents who are interested in those types of things. The few residents that we met seemed to be OK. They weren't really outgoing, but they were walking around and seemed to be enjoying things. We saw a one-bedroom unit. It was nice, pleasant, clean, and neat. It was not quite as big as I would have hoped it would be, but it was sufficient. It wasn't suitable for my friend's needs though. She would not be happy there, and she is not really ready for it yet. For me, I thought it looked very nice. It was convenient. I don't really have anything bad to say about the home itself. I think the physical appearance was very nice. They have a very nice little dining area. The staff were very pleasant. They didn't seem excited to see us, but they were very professional. I have been to other places before in the past, and they had more of a homey atmosphere. In the common areas in Rittenhouse Village, it looked more like an upscale house. It was like a living room that I wouldn't want to live in because it was too nice-looking. The dining area was pleasant and nice. They had a lot of windows, but it just didn't look homey. I understand they don't have a lot of carpeting in these places (probably for them to keep it clean), but it just looked a little too cold. It didn't look like a hospital room; it was nicer than that. If I had to live in a place like that, I would say that I could get used to that. My friend was not happy with it at all. She's a very picky person.

We choose Rittenhouse for our parents after touring several places. This was always at the top of our list. No regrets at all. The staff is wonderful and attentive to our and my parents needs. They made the move easy and comfortable.

We moved into Rittenhouse Village at Michigan City. It's a very quiet community. The maintenance on the outside of the building is all taken care of. We don't have to worry about snow removal, lawn care, or anything like that. They have many activities throughout the week. They have a beauty salon and an exercise room. They have a restaurant that you can go into to have lunch or dinner or breakfast. They're very attentive, even in an emergency. All we have to do is call the main building, and they'll get 911 for us or whatever we need. I can't say enough about it. It's just really, really nice units that we live in. It's very accessible. It's on one level. We have our washer and dryer right in the building here. We really like it here. We do our own food right now, but there is a restaurant in the big building, the nursing home itself. We haven't had a chance to get over there. It's worth the money to us. Some people think it's too expensive, but it's really worth it.

We did a tour of Rittenhouse Village at Michigan City. The staff was great; however, the room is really small. The staff was awesome; I loved every one of them, and it was just great. It's just, the rooms were too small. It was perfect, clean, and it was nice. The neighborhood seemed fine, even if you went outside. It was nice, you could go outside and just sit, and it was perfect. Everything inside was perfect, it was clean where you could set and go, it was perfect other than the rooms were too small. We were there during lunchtime, and we were hungry. They just gave us free coffee and a free pie. I would go there just for that.

We visited the assisted living and extended care at Rittenhouse Village at Michigan City. They were fine. They were pricey. The continuing care was fine. The staff members were very helpful and very nice. They have good food. It's a nice place, but my mom needed more care than what they could have provided for her. They have trips, they have a beauty shop, they take them shopping, and I'm sure they have art and social activities. The food was very good.

Rittenhouse Village is a little crowded and doesn't feel as homey as the other place I went to. I visited the memory care, but their rooms were very small and hospital-like, not homey. Their facilities were homey and the assisted living was really homey, but when you get in the memory care, they're just like hospital rooms. I know they didn't want people to just stay in their room, but I just didn't get that warm fuzzy feeling there. I have been there for a support group meeting and the food was really good.
